PM vanished - who was it from?

I just got a pop up telling me that I have a new message, but...no new message, and no corresponding email.

 

If you PM'd me in the last few minutes, please do it again!

 

(At least I think that's what the pop up said.  I just glanced at it.  Could it have been something else?)

the contents of the pm are shown in the email so if you are lucky perhaps it is there.

Ooh, what a mystery! We should all take out our cards and try to solve it at once! Oh, wait, I am supposed to be the moderator here so that’s not a very helpful answer  *putting on my serious work-hat*. Is your PM box full? Make sure there is plenty room for more messages. And double check that there aren’t any new messages that just aren’t marked as such. Maybe it got accidentally marked as ‘read’ when you opened your inbox? If not, hopefully some of the more tech-savvy moderators will come to our rescue  ;D

Grandma, I think the sender of a PM can delete that PM from someone as long as the PM hasn't been read yet.  Whoever sent you that PM might have changed their mind, sent it to the wrong person or wanted to change the Pm in some way and deleted it because it had not been read yet.  At least I THINK so.  I hope I'm not confusing this with another software.  :o
