What happened to the GLOW and MOVE functions?

These have just disappeared and I actually liked them and used them....

I believe Little Fang[/member] disabled it because some members had trouble reading posts containing those features

Can it not be enabled for some and not others - like the ones that do use it maybe.

What I was trying to explain is that I believe some members have been experiencing difficulties reading posts done by other members. They are not having a hard time reading their own posts. So this is about being considerate and making sure that conversations run as smoothly as possible and that everyone can participate in them. So sometimes fun features and aesthetics must come in second place, unfortunately.

Hi DnD!  I can help you.  We removed those features because they were distracting to other members.  I'd like to talk to you about this.  I'm not sure what template you're using but please don't use white, most of us use the green flowers or astrology template and while the white font might work on the astrology template, the text does not show up on green flowers.  Same as the font size.  It's huge for some of us.  I know that the SMF font size is really small!  There is a way you can make the font larger in  your browser.  I use Firefox and just go to the menu tab under View.  Then select Zoom and I have the box checked at the bottom to 'Zoom Text Only'.  Then hit the Zoom In as many times as needed.  Mine is actually set on 120% so all of the text on the site is enlarged for me.  I know those extra features are fun but because this is a learning forum, we feel it's better to keep posts more uniform for the reader.

No wonder some cannot read or make out things - it's the skins.

I use Astronomy.

Size 12 - functions up the top nothing outside of here. For the headings or titles - Size 14 usually. Not really big sizes actually - it is just how it turns out it seems on this website. Similar websites do not have the same issue although the same sizes are selected.

Most others writings are too small though, but to be considerate in line with the no glowing or moving function, in others threads I will make sure to use black.

Maybe bold as well.

But in mine maybe they can change skins temporarily as the white does go well with the purple. Mostly just the headings or sub headings really not the main body on the most part.

If it is still an issue with my own threads I can remove it all - it's not a problem.

Just start over...

For people with white backgrounds all they have to do is highlight the area where text would be.  The words are then readable but having said that, please don't use the white anymore.  NO!  You do NOT have to go through and change your posts!  I would never ask anyone to do that, hell, I won't do that! lol  Try adjusting your zoom to make the font larger and keep the regular size of the font on the forum default, see how that goes with you, DND.

I view the forum on quite a large screen and have it set for the forum (on firefox you can have a zoom level set for each site) at 120% which is perfect for me. I could never read the white you posted either DUNZer :)  ((

I think consideration needs to go more than one way. Because right now it is only for those that use Green Flowers or Beans - those with white backgrounds really.

Maybe the white background needs to be changed so everyone can see white words.

Having said that - I think I will go through my threads over the next few weeks or so to see what can be removed or not.

you must consider that the format you use must be compatible with all backgrounds, from the forum's pov. ;) happy posting!

Must be compatible as it is the functions up the top that I use -  where it has FONT SIZE and CHANGE COLOR. B and all that....I do not think we could use those if they were not designed to be compatible.

Other than Chrome I do not use anything like ZOOM changes for letters and all that, but it does sound cool for setting each website to a certain font size that is for sure. But I am not changing to another one as am use to Chrome.

Chrome has a ZOOM feature but not to set each website. I just looked at it and clicked on a window in it next to sizing it up and down.

Will not be doing that again as it hijacked my screen and it was tricky getting out of that - most definitely not the one to set anything.

I think Size 12 for me is fine as I need to read what I write.

Please remember that this is not done to stifle anyone’s creativity expression and that we fully understand that you are bummed about this. No feature is being disabled just for the sheer ‘fun’ of removing it from our members. It’s always a situation where one has to look at the whole picture and weigh downsides against perks. I’m sure you understand this  <3

It is fine - I will go through my threads when I can and remove what needs to be redone at a later date and especially where there are white words in it or too much white as I think I did some cards numbers or card image words in white as well. I will know when I go through each.

There is no need to go through old threads! Leave those as they are and just try not to repeat it in you new posts  :)

Thanks very much for disabling it. It was a nightmare reading posts. As for white text - that's only good for spoilers, really. On any forum.

Thank you for understanding the decision!  ((

I wanted to point out that currently, with Green Flowers being the primary theme, it is also used by most forum members as well as guests.  I like reading your posts very much, but changing between themes can be a bit tedious when my time is short.

I am keeping the size options so that people can still style things like reviews and ads, and the other colors are fair game, but most themes have issues with white font.

Don't feel you need to change past posts though!
