Hey all..

Just got the Classic Tarot deck in the mail today..

What a disappointment...

Some cards are amazing.. while others just don't work.. their facial expressions ruin it for me...

I was waiting for so long for this deck.. shame...

Guess I will leave it packed up.. for when ever.... :'(

I'm so sorry  :( it really stinks when a deck shows up and you can tell right away that you don't like it after all. Which Classic Tarot was it? The Llewellyn one or something else?

So sorry to hear that!

That actually happened to me with the Wild Unknown! I was waiting for so long to arrive and then no magic between us :(

I've had that happen with a couple decks. One I'm probably going to put up for trade at some point, and one I've already traded, but the rest I've held on to. I have found that some that I thought were no-go have clicked with me later, as I learn more, as the seasons change, etc.

It is really disappointing when you're all excited for a deck and it arrives and you're just like "meh."

With these older decks, make sure to utilize Aeclectic's database.  You get a wide swath of faces on this page:

I love the deck.  It is a straight forward RW deck. I use it in face to face readings because I have no distractions from the images.  They are accurate and very easy to read for me.  And I use the book for everything.  I knew right away I needed a few workhorse decks and the Radiant RW and the classic Llewellyn are my workhorse decks.  Maybe it's functionality and practicality will grow on you.  ^-^

That deck didn't do much for me either and I recently passed it on. I really liked the book though!

sorry for your disappointment.

since barbara moore is a respected tarot author,i would use the book to compare the imagery to robin wood.

and do a deck comparision.. because of barbara moore work.

and before putting it away,, i would do some 2 sample readings,, for i find the imagery of a deck, in particular the facial expressions can shed light . then if you dont' gell with it then. least you got the imagery in your mind.

i dont subscribe but you can trade it away perhaps in the deck trading section afterwards.  X/

Thank you and EVERYONE else who have responded..

I will check out the book and try a few readings...

The only silver lining is that I also got the Healing Light Tarot in the same shipment.. and it is amazing! ( thank you Saturn for your suggestion about this deck)

I'm sorry about your disappointment, Aldor44.  I know how it feels when a deck doesn't meet your expectations, and you feel like you've wasted your money (it's like "aaagh- I could have bought this other deck instead!").  My advice is to put the deck aside for a little while, until your feelings die down.  Then go back to the deck and judge it on it's own merit, rather than what you expected it to be.  This may help you to see the deck in a more positive light.

l adore all animals,  and this seemed to be the ideal deck for me.  Like you l waited with such eager anticipation only to find it did not speak at all to me.  l tried and tried to work with it but there was nothing.

Is there a way that you could still use the cards that you do like from this deck? What I mean is that if there are some cards that really resonate with you and that you get a clear vibe from - then maybe those cards could be used as anchors in the center of a spread/reading that is tapping into similar energies? For instance, if there is a card that you feel portray love really well, then you could have that card on a prominent place on your reading table when you are doing love-related readings. Cards can also be used for affirmations and goal setting. Or to manifest things, or as talismans.. (If you’re into practicing craft, that is. I know that this is not everyone’s cup of tea but I thought I might suggest it anyway)

Oh.. I have never thought of it...

I really liked the idea of the anchors...

Do you reckon I could use them as signifyer cards so I could use my entire other deck for the spread.. like lets say in the CC spread

I had this happen to me with the Victoria Regina  :(, I really wanted to like it but it was not to be.

The Celtic Tarot (Lo Scarabeo version) was a disappointment for me.  I liked the artwork on the box, but when I got it home and opened it up, I didn't care much for it at all. It does give really no-nonsense readings though - that deck doesn't sugarcoat anything!
