Gaze at the card and contemplate what Death means to you. Think about your experiences, or lack thereof, with Death so far. Write a bit about this. When you're ready, place Death back in your deck FACE UP. Shuffle it in, nice and thorough. Shuffle 13 times to honor Death. Then, seek Death out. Dig through your deck until you find it - the deeper you have to dig, the deeper his transformation is within your Soul. When you find Death, take it and the surrounding 2 cards out. The one on top is Charon's Obul, your payment to The Ferryman. Have you paid your dues? If you got a card of abundance, generosity or hard work, then Charon will grant you passage over the River Styx. The transformation outlined in this spread will come with a bit more ease. If you haven't paid your due... well, be prepared to do the work in a big way. Now, look again at Death. Death will strip you bare, whether you came with a coin under your tongue or not. Ask yourself now - "What more do I have left to lose?" Take note of the verrry first thought, image or feeling that came to you, before your Ego tried to fill in the answer. It can be telling. What is it you truly fear to lose? Finally, the card below Death - the Afterlife. This card is showing you your bones, it's what remains when everything has been stripped away. What's in your core? Do you even recognize yourself?
