Hate at First Sight Decks

WTH, I was thinking. And the Choice element which is essential to me is completely lost there...

Perhaps, on a new thread, you could discuss what decks do show that essential choice element well? I've always heard that as a prescribed meaning for The Lovers, but so rarely can get that out of any version I've seen. I would love to see what decks you think show it well!

Hopefully I’m not going off on too much of a tangent for this thread...just tell me if I should desist! But in addition to the historical decks that Raggydoll mentioned, I love how the choice element is brought into the Prisma Visions Lovers card. If you look closely at the picture, you can see in addition to the heterosexual couples dancing, there is a same sex couple dancing as well. Choice! I feel like there are some other decks where I’ve noticed this aspect brought in...will have to try to remember what they are :)

Unpopular opinion but really not a fan of Carol Herzer decks. I love the idea and color palette she uses but the artwork itself turns out to look very fuzzy and blurred which is also why I do not like the Golden Rider Tarot as well.

Had to google her but I agree. Blurry artwork is not something I like either.

Typically I don't either but if I had the money I'd get that Prisma Visions deck.  What I find fascinating about it is you can put several of the cards side by side and they all blend in together.  Like one huge mural.  and I love the colors used, they're not garish.  There is so much movement in the cards I think I would enjoy reading them intuitively.

I do not find the Prisma visions blurry at all, it has a whole different feel to it (in my opinion). And I might just have a copy of this deck ordered from Little Red Tarot as we speak  ;D (it is waiting to be shipped together with a pre-order deck that I’m getting as a Christmas present to myself  ;) )

Must be some confusion. I wasn't talking about the Prisma Visions (artist is James R. Ead) though there are a few cards in that deck that are blurry to me.

Carol Herzer is the creator of the Illuminated, Starlight Illuminated, Crystal Fire Illuminated, etc. Tarot decks.

I know you weren’t! I think Saturn Celeste just thought that some people might put the Prisma Visions in the same ‘blurry’ category and that’s why she mentioned it  :)

Raggydoll is my personal mind reader, she does all my interpretations of my mind for me!  Thanks 'doll!  ((

Any deck with explicit sexual or deviant content. I'm not even gonna name the one I have in mind.

Oh come on Tobi!  Tell us!  Chances are I might even have it!  >:D

alright, please empaths, leave the room  :) the Giger Tarot  :(

I googled it with my eyes semi closed just to be sure and then I quickly closed that window. Yup, hate at first sight. I don’t even know the story about that deck and I’m fairly sure I don’t want to hear it either.

Sorry to say it but I knew that was the deck and yes, I do have it.  It was my first limited edition decks and one of my first decks I bought to collect.  I did try to read with it but it was just too weird.  And not because of the sexual aspect of the deck but it's one of those kind of art decks where they just put images from the artist on the deck and it was so jumbled to try to read.  I was a really new reader too at the time and just couldn't make hide nor hair of the messages it tried to give me.  I even separated it from my other decks and I keep it in a storage table.  Unless you're really into Giger and don't care that the images used don't connect to the meaning of the cards then yea, get it!  lol

I also mentioned the Prisma Visions in my previous post regarding examples of Lovers cards that depicted choice. So I may have confused things! Sorry about that!

I've googled it and, well, i find it fascinating. I've spent several minutes looking at each card. It's weird, really weird, and I understand the repulsion, but I like Giger art. He's very talented and his world is so mysterious ( in a creepy way ok). However I think I won't be able to read with this deck, especially after what Saturn Celest has said about it.

I feel pretty good about the investment, it seems to have gone up in price!

New decks go for $268 so not bad!

I know I’m in an absolute minority here but Lordy how I loathed the Everyday Enchantment Tarot on sight. Yes, yes. I know everybody loves it but everything I love about tarot is entirely absent in this deck and everything I really don’t want to see in tarot is glaringly present. A lesson in how to utterly strip tarot of all its magic and mystery and deposit it in the world of banality and dreariness.

You are not alone  ;).

Yeah, you’re definitely not alone!

Perfectly stated.

Ditto.

I’m pretty particular about art, so there are a lot of decks that I immediately dislike, but off the top of my head, I can’t think of one that has elicited an extreme reaction. (And some of the ones I originally hated grew on me—Raven's Prophecy for one—and now I absolutely love them!)

But two decks I bought but hated immediately are the Sun and Moon Tarot and the Thoth. I hate the borders and the text treatment on the Thoth with such vehemence [emoji28] And I don't connect with the art, though I do find a lot of it really beautiful (I do hate some of it though). And the Sun and Moon is too cutesy for me and I really hate the baggy pants [emoji1750]‍[emoji3601]

I know people love those decks but I hate them so much I don't even want to keep them with the rest of my collection! [emoji23] But I'm going to sell them soon and I'm so exited! [emoji28]

I kind of like the Sun and Moon Tarot, but it is pretty creepy that no one in that deck has a face.

Yes the element of choice in The Lover(s) card would be a very inetresting indeed. If the element of choice is not there to some extent I tend to be put off a lot!

SAME! I have never understood the huge amount of love that deck gets!
