Page of Ghosts Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 So I'm browsing through bookdepository looking for another Thoth deck. I have the small purple edition and I'd like better cardstock and larger images. Came across this German edition that says it's Deluxe, card dimensions seems to be very large indeed. The box and the publishing date makes me think it's the AGM Muller version. Do anyone here have this version and can comment on it? Will it soothe my itch for a better quality Thoth on a budget or should I go for the green box USGS version instead since the bigger images is what I want the most? https://www.bookdepository.com/Crowley-Thoth-Tarot-De-Luxe-Ausgabe-78-Karten-Aleister-Crowley/9783905021189?ref=grid-view&qid=1501158637639&sr=1-11
Trogon Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 I don't think this is the AGM deck. I pulled mine out to compare. With the AGM deck, the box is darker blue, says "AGM AGMÜLLER" below the image and it says "Made in Belgium for AGM AGMÜLLER" on the bottom of the deck. The copyright date is 1962 and the ISBN is 0-88079-469-0. I know the colors on the cards are different between the AGM deck and the US Games versions. The one you linked to says it's in German, so it could be yet another version, but I don't believe it is the AGM deck. Can't be certain though. I've attached scans of the front and back of the one I have. ETA; I should say that my deck is the English version by AGM. That may not have been very clear.
Page of Ghosts Posted July 28, 2017 Author Posted July 28, 2017 Yes, I noticed the publisher is Königsfurt-Urania so it probably is another version of it. I kinda wanna get it just to see what it's like when I have the funds to do so. Thanks for your help! ETA Their website says AGM-Urania so it still might have something to do with AGM Muller. I think I was redirected there when I typed in the website on the Roots of Asia deck I owned which is published by AGM Muller. Maybe they changed names? A mystery!
Rose Lalonde Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 It's listed by ISBN on Aeclectic in the Thoth editions thread. ETA -- whoops I read the number wrong. Possibly mentioned, but not by ISBN I don't think...
