This is a great topic and something we all should think about when reading for others--especially if they are paying customers.  This thread was started by andromedastarseed.

I've started to practice reading for clients (currently I'm not charging as I want the experience), but I'm noticing I'm having a hard time filling a 30 minute reading slot. I'm usually done within 15 minutes, 20 if I'm lucky and the client is chatty.

I guess my question is how do I lengthen my readings? Do I have them ask more questions and cast more spreads, or should I do a giant spread? Or am I putting too much pressure on myself?

Thanks in advance!

it is for this reason I charge by the card,

1. it is affordable, 20 bucks for 3 cards

there is some talking before hand, I do my little psychic practice before hand (that is just something I start when I shuffle the cards ) so I tell them what I picked up before I do the cards.

i tell them what the cards means, and we go back over it, so i make sure they understand what i am saying..

and that is it.. i don't try to make up stuff,

(there is also the soul card which is a freebie ).

if i tried to stick to a time limite i would short change them, or feel like i have to make up stuff.

2. if a person pays 40 for 10 cards,,

it will be longer, more detailed and i never timed it.. but pretty sure it goes over half hour.

especially when talking about the cards after..

I don't think I have ever struggled with too short readings, maybe it's because I'm a talker?  :o But I feel like a reading has many layers and it takes a while to get to most of them (I never aim to exhaust all the possible layers cause that would be way to draining and time consuming for both me and the querent). Some people also pull oracle cards at the end to close the reading on an inspiring note (I'm sure this has already been covered in the original thread, has not actually taken a look at that one yet). That is not something that I personally do, mostly because I very often include oracle cards in my readings to begin with.
