VGimlet Posted August 4, 2017 Author Posted August 4, 2017 I'm in this week VGimlet - Hermetic Tarot if I can find it. THAT will be the question of the day. I think I'm finally starting to get back on track. Seems like life has been throwing curveballs lately, and I've either been swinging too wide or ducking, haha. Finally feel I've spent enough time with the lovely Universal Fantasy, but it will be coming back again someday. :-* And I liked the WT Horton. Too bad there is no 78 card deck.
Scarlet Woodland Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Thanks for the new thread VG :) Good luck finding the elusive Hermetic. After a nice, minimalist week last time, I'm back on the crazy colour train. The Bonefire Tarot is calling my name so I'm pairing it with The Illuminated Tarot (original, medium with shimmer!). They have a night and day vibe and look rather lovely together. Think my original Illuminated must be a very early one... it's so eccentric and homemade! I love that it's got so much personality. The backs look like a flowery, adhesive plastic-y sheet that was pressed onto the laminated, paper fronts and totally don't go with the deck ;D. That might put off a normal human but it's such a one of a kind, right down to the slightly uneven cutting out and individual, shimmer overpainting. I adore this crazy little deck and it shuffles like a dream. It's obvious it was handmade with love. Scarlet Woodland - Bonefire Tarot & Illuminated Tarot (Carol Herzer)
Bodhiseed Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Bodhiseed - Sasuraibito Tarot and Soul Cards 1 & 2 Thanks VG. Hope you get a chance to hit those curveballs out of the park. :D
Trogon Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Hope you find your Hermetic Tarot VG! Is it the one by Dowson (full 78 card deck). I had just gotten that deck a while back and used it in one of the DotW's back on AT. I really loved it. Anyway, I've had some excellent readings with the Anna K, so I think I'm going to go on to a different deck this week. The question is ... just how different do I want to be? Getting out my pendulum ... Contenders; Renaissance Tarot, Thoth Tarot, The Light and Shadow Tarot, Sakki-Sakki Tarot and The Röhrig Tarot. And the winner is ... The Light and Shadow Tarot! I'm also going to continue working with the A'HA Oracle, it is fascinating in how it's leading my mind in some different directions. Trogon - The Light and Shadow Tarot and the A'HA Oracle
GreenFaerie Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Hi VG! I am going to stick with the Victorian Fairy Tarot this week, as it's been so lovely to work with and I feel like I didn't get enough time with it. (Also, I've pulled out some cards from other decks over at the Comparative Tarot threads, and doing comparisons with the VFT has been great.) Good luck finding your deck! And I hope those curveballs become nice straight pitches across the plate, and you start hitting some home runs! :)
Page of Ghosts Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Changing some stuff up this week - I feel like Morgan's Tarot could be fun! It's very fun & weird and more like an oracle so I'll use it more like that I think. For my Tarot deck, hmm.. The Dreaming Way could be fun! I love the art but haven't gotten around to using it much. Page of Ghosts - Dreaming Way Tarot and Morgan's Tarot
Bookworm Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Thank you for the thread, VG. I'm in again with the Rosetta Papyrus. I'm still enjoying it and my life is busy at the moment, so I don't have time to think of other decks.
Scarlet Woodland Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Wow, I have had the worst stalker card problem today ::) Can't tell you how many times I drew Judgement between the two decks. Was totally stumped till I pulled out the Mary-El to try and suss out what it was telling me. Think I've finally got to the bottom of it now *peeks at deck between fingers* phew.
Madame Squee Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Thank you for the thread, VG. I'm sticking with The Harry Potter Tarot and Starduster Lenormand We are getting on very well together! xoxo
Carojulie Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Hello everybody ! I had a busy last week so I will keep my decks from last week into this new thread, and I will add one more (that's three decks, usually I would not have time to explore three decks in the same week, but right now I feel like experimenting with multi-deck readings) I'll have one tarot deck (Bohemian Cats), one Lenormand (Mystical lenromand) and one playing card deck (Corina Dross' Portable Fortitude Playing Cards, which is anything but a plain playing card deck !) I did not post much in last week's thread, but I want to thank your Green Faerie for sharing your super new house spread ! If you are OK with it I'll put it in my book of spreads ? And Trogon, I missed your birthday last week, I am sorry ! Happy belated BD :) See you all soon ! Carojulie - Baroque Bohemian Cats tarot, Mystical lenormand, Portable Fortitude Playing Cards.
jema Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 I am going for the small decks this week. Found a miniature Jodorowsky Camoin and will team it up with the Arnell Ando Transformational Last week was a good week with Mountain Dream and if I picked one more deck I already forgot all about it.
Lantana Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Hello all! Thanks for the new thread, VG! Ended up not being online much this week (though I did go back and read last week's thread) so I'll be going another week with the Idiosyncradeck and Amethyst Oracle. I'll have one tarot deck (Bohemian Cats), one Lenormand (Mystical lenromand) and one playing card deck (Corina Dross' Portable Fortitude Playing Cards, which is anything but a plain playing card deck !) Oh! I also have that playing card deck, though I mostly use it for talismans instead of divination. I'd love to hear how you end up using it!
GreenFaerie Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 I did not post much in last week's thread, but I want to thank your Green Faerie for sharing your super new house spread ! If you are OK with it I'll put it in my book of spreads ? Hi there, Carojulie - of course! I am happy to share the spread with anyone who would like to copy it down and use it. I'm delighted that you liked it. :)
Mindful Tarot Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Thank you so much for the thread VG! I'm definitely not done with my explorations of the Gill and the Mystical (esp. since I barely touched my cards last week) - but I'm going to dive into a brand-new to me copy of the Victoria Regina. Can't wait (and many thanks to TallTarotGuy! xoxo Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Page of Ghosts Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 So for my first pull without the Thoth ( :'( ) I got some good ones - Two of Cups (Dreaming Way) and Far Out (Morgan's Tarot) right after I'd put up an offering on my altar (in an actual giant CUP, heh), trying to be a practioner more than someone lost in the world of research forever :P The cards were supposed to be for reflecting the day, which was a nice one with D&D (although I'd only slept for 5 hours tops last night, I was so proud that I managed to get up and shower before I had to leave), dinner with friends and preparations for tomorrows simple dinner at my boyfriends, as well as some long neglected housework. I take it as I'm forging some strong bonds and sharing love (might be the D&D pals, my boyfriend, my lil offering or all 3!) and it's more important than I realise at the moment. Maybe even a little outside my comfort zone (Far Out)? But still a healthy and good thing for me, I think. The two people seem to be quite friendly and I could need some more friends in my life.. hope this doesn't sound too sad :-X Morgan's Tarot can be viewed and used on this website, here is a link to my card for the day: http://www.sleepbot.com/morgan/card/farout.html
VGimlet Posted August 5, 2017 Author Posted August 5, 2017 Hope you find your Hermetic Tarot VG! Is it the one by Dowson (full 78 card deck). Yes it is the black and white one by Dowson. :) Luckily it was easier to find than expected - whew! Some decks I know exactly where they are, and others...not so much, haha. If I ever get the guest bedroom/library divested of some of the books I may move part of the tarot collection in there and alphabetize them for easier recovery, LOL. (There is another project for that list....)
Rose Lalonde Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Rose Lalonde - Tabula Mundi Tarot and Asherah Tarot (Very little chance of actually working with them. Maybe next weekend on the long haul flight, with TM app in hand when there's nothing below me but freezing air & clouds... Yeah, I might not love flying. :/ ) Thanks, VG!
Bodhiseed Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 This week I'll be working with the Sasuraibito Tarot, self-published by Stasia Burrington. I'll also be using Soul Cards 1 & 2, created by Deborah Koff-Chapin and published through her company, Center for Touch Drawing. The Soul Cards have no titles, so the ones given here are my own. Today's draws are the Three of Cups and Creative Support: What a lovely card for the Three of Cups. Whether a community of like-minded people or a few close friends, we all need a self-chosen tribe to celebrate our accomplishments and milestones with. Burrington writes in the companion booklet that no matter what kind of group it is, the positive feelings are the same: "feeling like you belong; feeling loved, secure, supported and cherished." The hard part is that we generally have to seek and reach out to these people, yet the deep trust found in these friendships is worth any effort. In the Soul Card, I see a guardian with one arm protecting a child as the child reaches upward. Here again is another reason to have a tribe - support. Whether we are stretching our creative talents or moving on from a loss, it is comforting and encouraging to have a cheering section. Instead of "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine," this is the unconditional statement, "I've got your back."

I'm impressed! I'm not sure I could work with 3 decks at once! :D And thank you very much for the birthday wishes! It's only been a couple of days, so not too late. ;) Thank you so much for the thread VG! I'm definitely not done with my explorations of the Gill and the Mystical (esp. since I barely touched my cards last week) - but I'm going to dive into a brand-new to me copy of the Victoria Regina. Can't wait (and many thanks to TallTarotGuy! xoxo I'm very interested to see how you do with the VR. I had it quite a number of years ago, but I just could not read with it, for some reason I couldn't get it. Sold it a few years ago on A.T. It is a beautiful deck and I really hope you enjoy it. Hope you find your Hermetic Tarot VG! Is it the one by Dowson (full 78 card deck). Yes it is the black and white one by Dowson. :) Luckily it was easier to find than expected - whew! (There is another project for that list....) Glad you found it! :D The Hermetic Tarot was one of my more recent purchases (found it at a New Age store here a few months ago). I loved working with it and am interested to hear how you get along with it.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Tarot of the Origins, thank you VGimlet. A very primal deck, never sure what it will pull out of me.
Bookworm Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 I'm still working with the Rosetta Papyrus, and still loving it. After a reading about how to get back on track (after a weekend of over-consumption), I got a message that seemed to tell me to invoke my higher powers. So I decided to do a Situation/Challenge reading about how to do that. Situation: The Lovers Challenge: Queen of Wands The situation is me wanting to connect -- in effect to unite with my higher powers -- so that I can feel complete and integrated within myself. The fact that I have drawn a major here, and a positive one, makes me hopeful. The challenge is the Queen of Wands, my own personal court card. She is meditating, which is what I thought of when I thought about getting in touch with my higher powers, because how else would you do it? Her meditation looks pretty red hot, however, not how I usually think of meditation. She’s not just meditating, she is actually being lifted up by her fiery power. It really IS a higher power for her. She has one hand on a leopard’s head, which indicates her control of her animal nature, which she is closely attuned to. Her pinecone seems to indicate her fiery nature as well. I think the challenge for me is to own my Queen of Wand-ness, which I have always had trouble with, not that I have ever been able to escape it. I have just always had trouble with expressing it, because it is not a natural companion to my shy nature. I need to accept the fact that I am intense. I am not always the affable, people-pleasing person that I pretend to be. If I can somehow accept it and embrace it, maybe I’ll be able to control how I express it, rather than having its expression take me by surprise. Maybe intensity is my higher power, or at least part of it. Maybe owning it is a first step. Maybe if I can learn to express what I am actually feeling, rather than what my own inner critic tells me is appropriate to express, then I can stop wanting to stifle my own expression by shoving food in or drinking enough to escape the confines of that inner critic. You would think that I would have resolved this long ago, but I have to remind myself that we all do things in our own time.
Guest rakusribut Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 would like to join this week with my newly acquired Vertigo. it was love at first touch..... this deck is pulling no punches, it cuts the crap and tells it like it is..... wow! just what i need in this time of major shifts and changes. and with the input of the full moon...... i feel like howling....
DaughterofDanu Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Hey all, I had a busy week last week so I wasn't able to post or participate. But I'm back this week with my comfort decks, the Starchild Tarot, Spirit de la Lune oracle and I'm adding the Cute Little Lenormand to the mix :) Have a lovely week everyone!
