Abraxas Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 This is my first post so please let me know if I'm violating any rules or doing something wrong so I can fix it ^-^ I'm pretty new to tarot and I've only had my deck for a few months now. On top of it being my first deck, it was also a gift from my mother so I'm pretty attached to it. Thing is, this morning one of the cards got tangled up in my sheets and accidentally went through the washing machine!!! :'( I'm so heartbroken I almost cried. The card in question is the Queen of Pentacles, and it's almost completely ruined... it has pieces missing and is pretty much unusable. My question is, can I keep using this deck even though it has a card missing? Do I need to buy a completely new deck or find a replacement card? I've tried looking online but I can't find anyone selling this particular card for the A.E. Waite deck, the ones I've seen have a blue patterned background but mine is red. Thankyou for reading through all of this, any help would be appreciated!!!

Thankyou for reading through all of this, any help would be appreciated!!! I've heard some members say they have contacted the publishing company to get a replacement card from them. That would be a good place to start? I know others will join in with better helpful thoughts than mine. I do want to welcome you to the forum and I hope you do get a new card replacement. I don't advise using the deck with a missing card though. As a last resort you could take a joker playing card and glue a printed image of the Queen onto the card for now or get a new deck and retire that one and keep it safe. Add the mangled card to the deck for storage.
Guest Night Shade Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 This is horrible, Abraxas - I'm really sorry that this happened to you. If the deck has any extra cards, you know the ones that introduce the deck, and advertise other decks, maybe you could label one of them Queen of Pentacles, but of course that wouldn't be quite the same. Or you could just use the deck without it; you'd be missing a bit of potential information, but not nearly so much that your readings would be inaccurate. Whatever you do, don't get rid of the deck - it has too many happy memories wrapped up in it!
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 (((Abraxas))) what a nice gift from you mom. What deck is it? Who was the publisher. If it is a fairly new deck you can get a replacement from the publisher. You can write or email or call and ask pretty please.
sandrang123 Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 First: Sorry to hear this! I would advise against using a deck with a missing card. I have had one or two cards ruined of late (our Persian cat loves to put teeth marks in my EVERYDAY WITCH), and/or have been shipped new decks with a missing card. The publisher has replaced all. So I echo what others have said: Contact the publisher. :) Good luck.
DevonCarter Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 I'd definitely check with the publisher. And in the meantime I'd probably use an extra card (if the deck came with one) to stand in for that one - maybe print out an image of the card to pull out and put where the extra card falls? And as a last resort there are people selling sets of single cards on Ebay (a few different Fools, etc.) for craft purposes so maybe see if one of those batches has your missing card?
Cookie Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 You could probably use them without the card if you still wanted to, remember that cards are just props...you can divinate & prophesier with a whistle down the wind if you're tuned in enough.
gregory Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Red back ? That would be Lo Scarabeo ? If it is, they are wonderful about this stuff. It's not for sale in their shop any more, but they MIGHT have spare cards. Email and ask. On AT we used to have a "missing cards" thread - is there one here, perhaps ? Where people with broken decks could offer up cards and people like you could beg for a missing or wrecked one.
