Saturn Celeste Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=149585 by MagsStardustBlack I have been noticing that being on the tarot journey is starting to be a lonely journey. Apart from all of us here on AT there is nobody in my life and at home that i can chat with about my tarot cards, and how i am getting on, the fun i'm having and how exciting the whole journey is. It is just me and my cards. My family are supportive but aren't able to have a conversation with me really, and my friends are not into anything like tarot at all. Its getting hard not being able to share. Is learning Tarot a personal journey that one must do alone, regarding friends and family? It it like this for many of us? How do you deal with the loneliness of it when you can't share it with the people you love in your life? Is it a matter of accepting it is a solitary journey and getting on with it?
Grizabella Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 It's hard to be lonely on our Tarot journey when we have this forum. There are so many others who are treading this path along with those of us who gather here. <3 I know what you mean, though, about it feeling pretty lonely in our everyday lives. I live alone with my little dog and a parakeet up on a mountain, so I have plenty of solitude. I haven't gotten to know that many people here so I don't know what their general attitude about Tarot is. Maybe I'll find out next summer when the weather gets better and I'm able to go out and mingle more.
Raggydoll Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Sometimes it will be a lonely journey depending on your specific life circumstances. There are meetups but not in every area or even in every country. Having online friends really help. My advice is to truly get to know some of the people you talk with online so that they become more than just acquaintances. It’s important to remember that behind every avatar there is a real flesh and blood person. So you can develop very real friendship even through forums like this. Just dare to reach out and I’m sure you will find plenty of ‘takers’ that will want to get to know you better!
joy Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 In my 'real' life I do not currently know anybody who reads Tarot. But then in one way I am a very introvert person when it comes to my very personal stuff. So to be on a lonely Tarot Journey in my 'real' life is fine with me. Here in the Forum I have the chance to be open which is great.
Jewel Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 I don't really have anyone to talk or practice tarot with in my geographic proximity though my few friends do know and some are fascinated by the fact that I read and collect tarot decks. My husband always asks if there are decks I am wanting when X-mas or my b-day is coming around, or tells me to get whatever deck if I am really itching to get one, but he is not into Tarot on any level so I generally use my cards when I have my private time. I have had friends that wanted to learn but they do not stick with it long at all and move on. So it does get lonely sometimes, how fun it would be to have a tarot and wine party! I am just so grateful for this community, here I have made some good friends to share the journey with and get to do many of the things I wish I could do with a local group so I am not complaining.
Bookworm Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 I don't know anyone who is into the cards, and I rarely mention it to people I know in real life. I also feel very grateful for this community, and I honestly don't feel alone in my fascination with the cards because of it.

In one of my forums, (the big one linked off the Elder Scrolls Forum) I had 2 people meet and get married on my site! I also had a few romances start that led to much flying back and forth of members. It was lovely!!

I'll think on it and share it with Little Fang once I have it formulated in my head.
Arabella Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 So here I am, alone again and back with all my tarot friends, you lovelies here at T, T &M. Picture this - Family Christmas party, two of the people I like better than the rest of my family ;) a younger cousin, a total hippy in every way, the other, an older aunty who's into crystals, herbs and very liberal. After talking about our art projects and as a bit of a "testing of the waters" I mentioned that a friend of mine (yes a real friend, the only person I know who reads cards besides me) has an art stall at the local markets and also does tarot readings there. I was actually shocked by the response. They nearly knocked me over with their scoffing and ridiculing of tarot. Oh well, back to the closet for me. Not coming out anytime soon. 8) I'd really love a tarot and wine party, virtual or otherwise X/

Maybe I should have talked to the straight laced, snappy cousin or her poor henpecked husband. X-D But I'm very happy here in this closet and we're all together. It's a pretty big closet, and I have friends here. Now all we need is that wine! ((

stephanelli Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 I've only shared with one person that I use the tarot. She was in a position of searching and I felt like she really wanted a way to open up and talk so I suggested that we could do a tarot reading to help start things off, she was very grateful for that. I haven't actually told my husband, I plan to, it just hasn't ever felt like the right time yet. I don't think he'd freak or anything, it just hasn't felt the right time and I trust my intuition. Such is life when dealing with things most people don't understand sadly. :-( Sent from my Nokia 1 using Tapatalk
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 It isn't just tarot. Do you know someone who is a history buff? Builds ships in bottles? There are all kinds of subjects that make everyone else's eyes glaze over. the first three-ish years I used the cards I managed to insert the subject of tarot everywhere I went, hoping for a fellow journeyer. No such luck. There just aren't very many of us compared to the enjoyments of the masses. I've met several forum members in person, great fun! Reach out if you see an opportunity. I'm in SW Washington USA
