Hi John! A lot of us have our deck collections listed in our profiles. So if you click on someone's profile, you can scroll through the profile to see what decks they have listed. Not sure if that's helpful or if you wanted to have a discussion about types of decks here.

John, this is a list of my decks.  They are all linked to photos of the cards. ;)

OMG thats really GREAT collection  :o :))

Thank you!  :))

Hey there JohnLetter!

My decks are not listed in my profile and I have about one hundred so that's too many to put here, but I'll describe my collection a little.

I only collect Tarot decks, not oracles or playing cards or Lenormand or anything else.  I'm kind of obsessive, so if I expanded into those areas I would quickly overwhelm myself!

My collection is quite eclectic.  I have a mixture of old standards, new offerings, indie decks and ones from the big publishing houses, RWS, Marseilles, and non-established-system, but I don't think any Thoth - I'm not really sure about that.  I'm always adding to, subtracting from, rearranging priorities on, and buying, buying, buying off my wish list.

I love traditional symbolism in many genres of art, and I love abstract art and surrealism that challenge my intuition.

How do you like the decks you already own, and do you plan to grow your collection?  If so, in what direction?

My collection is listed in my profile. It’s quite an eclectic mix - some of them I’m reviewing with the view to selling or gifting.

I tend to choose decks with art I like or a theme which appeals. Over time, I’ve realised that I’m not so keen on comic book style like some of the older Lo Scarabeo decks.

My main sub-collection is historical decks - I love seeing how the images have evolved in different times and places.

My collection (such as it is) is on my profile too. I'm still starting out on tarot, so I don't have a large collection yet, and I've really only worked with one of my decks so far, and that's the Golden Tarot by Liz Dean. I'm really excited to explore different types of decks tho.

Mine are in my profile.... I've been at it since 1975, in my defence. My go-to decks are Pagan Cats and Sweet Twilight.

  When I first read through this thread, and read the opening post, I thought of you gregory, as I recall from A.T. that you have a HUGE collection!  I realize many do, and I myself have about 100 more or less.  I have never counted them all tbh, but I probably have more then I need or could ever use, (according to my husband and kid...), but hey, when I see a deck I like and can afford, I buy them!  Tarot, oracles and Lenormand.

My most go to tarot deck though has to be the Robin Wood Tarot deck.

And tbh do yall use all these cards or you are doing it for collecting?

I do.  I use them for my business, I let my clients pick out the decks they want me to read with.

And tbh do yall use all these cards or you are doing it for collecting?

Yes to both. I don't READ with them all but I use them for research, study and just looking at and enjoying. That's using, too.

I agree. I actually think most tarot readers have a percentage of decks in their collection that they don’t read with - and the bigger the collection is the larger amount of non-reading decks there will be. I know I have several that I never/rarely read with. Some of them I wish I would read more with but others serve completely different purposes, just like you said.

Mine are also listed in my profile. I've only been at this seriously for a year or so, but I have the collecting gene, and am pretty picky about the art on the cards. I think at the beginning I was looking for "the one" deck, but now I realize I have several that I love and I choose which one to used based on my mood each day. I also like comparing the same cards from several decks, to help me learn or understand the meanings more deeply. I have one that I don't really love that I may someday put up for trade, but I do at least look at most or all of them from time to time.

It's worth trying a few different decks, Tarot and others, to find out what works best for you. I bought a few then cut my collection back down to those I'm happiest using.

I use some of them, but the majority are just sitting around gathering dust.  I'm hoping to change that though - it's one of my New year's resolutions.

I read with some of them, and use the others also to just look through as I love the artwork.  however, I have used every deck I own at least a few times reading with them.  I always try them out to see how they read.  When I do so, sometimes I realize that as much as I love the artwork, I just can't read with them like my go to decks, which are the ones I read with the most.  I also allow customers to choose a deck from those I like to read with, when I get a customer.  However, a lot of my customers anymore are also long distance readings, so I tend to just grab the one I am currently reading with for their readings.

I only have the rider waite deck.

I only have 6 decks, but I’ve read from them all at least once. I learned through the Collective Tarot deck and had only “non traditional” decks until recently.

Lost track of how many and which ones I have. I had them listed on my Aeclectic profile and that helped me to keep it updated. Since then I’ve stopped cataloguing and have no idea how many now. Over 1,000. Started in 1982 or thereabouts. Love the 70s and 80s decks and the historic ones. Love them all in fact. Recently I’ve been using Oracle decks more - like the Supra - but there are so many wonderful decks out there and something for everyone, whatever your tastes. I see you have the Smith /Astrop Runic deck. Keep your eyes open for the upcoming reissue of their Radiant Sun Oracle. One of my favourites and unavailable for years. Due for a reissue in February. Yippee!
