Whisper Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 I'm also hoping that Llewellyn releases the Otherkin Tarot this year as well. It's by the same artist as the Linestrider and is more animal focused. I was ultimately turned off the Linestrider because of the Medieval-y people throughout, so I really want to see if this one will do it for me! Ohhh myyy goddd Linestrider is one of my favorite decks and the Otherkin Tarot is spectacular! The publication date is June of this year. I just pre-ordered! The Linestrider is so unusual. Is it just the simple sketches that appeal to you? What kind of accompanying book does it have, Grandma[/member]?
Jewel Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 If Baba Studios/Magic Realist Press release the colored version of Mythical Creatures Tarot that will be my #1 choice followed by the Forest of Enchantment. And I have the Mermaid Tarot to be released by Llewellyn in March on my wish list too, not expecting it to be the best Tarot deck in the world, but I do not believe I can resist those mermaids lol.

Mythical Creatures... Have to look into that one. Agree with you regarding the Forest of Enchantment. Mermaids are you. (( Totally understand why you cannot resist that deck. <3 Just visited the website and the deck looks gorgeous.
Grandma Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 The Linestrider is so unusual. Is it just the simple sketches that appeal to you? What kind of accompanying book does it have, Grandma[/member]? It's the delicate, ethereal beauty and the deceptive simplicity that draws me in deeper and deeper the longer I look. The book is excellent. It's a 274 page standard paperback size with an explanation of the theory behind the deck, some general Tarot information, and a few pages devoted to each card. In every case there's a black and white picture of the card and explanations of both the traditional RWS meaning and the artist's choices in her interpretation. She also includes correspondences - astrology, numbers and associated plants for the majors, and numbers, associated birthdays and associated plants for the minors. It's interesting and easy to read. One of my favorites!

I need to add the Tarot Grand Luxe by Ciro Marcheitti which will be published as a standard edition by US Games around June or July this year :).
KatieKeene Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I am so looking forward to The Little Prince Tarot! One of my favorite books since I took a college French seminar on St. Exupery (the author). <3 The art looks as charming as the story, just hope the whole comes together as a Tarot. But it will become part of my collection nontheless. I just saw this recently and I'm totally looking for it too! I'm also looking forward to the Muse and Light-Seer's decks (the art is by the same person after successful Kickstarter campaigns, and both styles are beautiful!)

I like it when authors go into detail and dedicate space to each card. Just a thought... . Do you know the Supra Oracle by Uusi?

So glad it's being published as a standard edition. Thank you, Jewel. I see that I'm going to have to add more decks to this year's wishlist. [emoji4]

I like it when authors go into detail and dedicate space to each card. Just a thought... . Do you know the Supra Oracle by Uusi? Actually, that's one of the few books I use, though I appreciate their value. LWBs are too L for my eyes and most larger books just don't seem to grab my interest. I have a short attention span! One of my Tarot goals is to motivate myself to use the books more when I work with different decks. No, I don't know the Supra Oracle. It looks beautiful (I'm guessing that's what the pictures are) but I don't dare branch out from Tarot to oracles, Lenormand, etc. I'm already in way too deep...
GreatDane Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 SO FAR (and I haven't explored much yet) probably the Rackham. But the year is young and I need to check out what's in the pipeline <3 And it's ALL Hemera's fault for letting me know about it! ;) :D

But I read somewhere that the cards are large and the cardstock is thick so I don't know. I don't much care for large cards. The LoS size is just perfect.

Yes, I saw a youtube video comparing the two editions of the Crow tarot (indie/massproduced) and there was a definite difference in size. The indie version is much smaller and the mass produced one is slightly bigger than standard. I believe it might have been Kelly from The Truth in Story who did this comparison. Perhaps worth checking out? Her reviews are lengthy but they are amazing.
Hemera Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Oh, thank you for the hint Raggydoll! I'll check it out. But is the indie deck available any longer?
Mab Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 I'm so hoping I’ll be able to get the Bonestone and Earthflesh <3.... and I am interested in the Japaridze and Ancestral Path reprints.. and the borderless Maroon... and I have just ordered the Splendor Solis. Another year of self inflicted penury..... 8)
GreatDane Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 I got the original Maroon years ago because loved a lot of the imagery, but hard to see all the details with the borders and gave it to a friend who really wanted it. I would love to get it in a borderless. I shall be watching and reading X/
VirtueCenteredTarot Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 The Tarot Banksy looks interesting. Something different. I like it a lot. Just received this deck in the mail (ordered from the creators Etsy shop)! It's nice. Still exploring it, but the card stock is good quality (one of my particular fuss-points). I love Banksy's work, and street art in general. Like all new decks, my immediate sense is curiosity at some of the associations that the deck creator made, but building stories and reasoning behind a card's artwork is part of the challenge and joy of working with different decks...so I'm excited to start playing with it. Can recommend it if you're still considering... cheers!
DanielJUK Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 I've been following this deck on Instagram and seeing the pictures and I am looking forwards to the Vibra Tarot (deck pics / details here). It's a digital collage deck with Egyptian influences but I really like it's style! It's so my pop art style! I am waiting for the crowdfunding to open to get it 8) It should be out in 2019!
MysticMoonlight Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Lo Scarabeo's Arthur Rackham and Pre-Raphaelite Tarot are my can't-hardly-waits. So excited for them. Also, LoS Radiant Wise Spirit Tarot looks pretty great as well.
GreatDane Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 The Little Prince Tarot, thanks for mentioning that one, Asher! Love that book. Just checked it out and yes, I could so see getting that one. The thread is dangerous....there should be a warning label! X/

I like the style a lot.
