stephanelli Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Welcome to the study group for the The Herbal Tarot by Candice Cantin and Michael Tieris (http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/herbal/), thank you Saturn for setting this up! My hope is to study each card in depth looking at the symbolism (RWS or otherwise) in each card, the herbal symbolism in each card, how they link together and anything else about the card that is important to you. I'd love you to join me in this journey with this deck! This thread is for general discussion and gradually threads for all the cards of the deck will appear - but if its not there and you want to discuss it, feel free to make it! You don't have to go in order, just drop in and out as you like. I'll put an index of each of the card threads in this post as they get started too for easy access 🙂 INDEX Major Arcana 0 The Fool (Ginseng) 1 The Magician (Astragalus) 2 The High Priestess (Peony) 3 The Empress (Dong Quai) 4 The Emperor (Atractylodes) 5 The High Priest (Sage) 6 The Lovers (Parsley) 7 The Chariot (Cyperus) 8 Strength (Cayenne) 9 The Hermit (Licorice) 10 Medicine Wheel (Slippery Elm) 11 Justice (Plantain) 12 Suspended Person (Kelp) 13 Death (Elder Flowers) 14 Temperance (Echinacea) 15 Pan (Lobelia) 16 The Tower (Garlic) 17 The Star (Skullcap) 18 The Moon (Lemon Balm) 19 The Sun (Angelica) 20 Judgement (Goldenseal) 21 The World (Comfrey) Swords Ace (Chamomile) Two (Passionflower) Three (Pleurisy Root) Four (Mullein) Five (Mistletoe) Six (Vervain) Seven (Wood Betony) Eight (Black Cohosh) Nine (Valerian) Ten (Ephedra) Page (Dill) Knight (Wild Cherry Bark) Queen (Lady's Slipper) King (St. Johnswort) Wands Ace (Yarrow) Two (Basil) Three (Saffron) Four (Fennel Seed) Five (Turmeric) Six (Hawthorn) Seven (Wild Ginger) Eight (Sassafras) Nine (Bayberry Bark) Ten (Prickly Ash Bark) Page (Shepherd's Purse) Knight (Aconite) Queen (Raspberry Leaf) King (Cinnamon) Cups Ace (Lotus) Two (Uva Ursi) Three (Trillium) Four (Burdock) Five (Horsetail) Six (Watermelon) Seven (Juniper Berries) Eight (Gravel Root) Nine (Squawvine) Ten (Marijuana) Page (Damiana) Knight (Sarsaparilla) Queen (Lady's Mantle) King (Saw Palmetto) Pentacles Ace (Whole Grains) Two (Yellow Dock) Three (Gentian) Four (Cascara Bark) Five (Mugwort) Six (Hops) Seven (Rhubarb) Eight (Ginger) Nine (Dark Grapes) Ten (Wild Yam) Page (Blue Flag) Knight (Elecampane) Queen (Marshmallow) King (Alfalfa)

Faye Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Ooooooh this is fab! I’m already a fan of your Herbal Tarot readings, so I’ll definitely keep an eyeball on this thread ^-^
stephanelli Posted January 9, 2019 Author Posted January 9, 2019 Thanks :-) I'm hoping to start off my studying with my first card tomorrow afternoon if I don't get too bogged down with things :-) I'm so looking forward to doing this! Sent from my Nokia 1 using Tapatalk
Saturn Celeste Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 I have the deck Stephanelli!! I'm so excited! I love it. My son looked through it last night and he likes it too, it's a really sweet deck! And the Marijuana card (10 Cups) is the BEST!!! <3
Arania Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 This seems to have died, too. This deck was among bunch of decks I got (just the cards, all in elaborate boxes) with no LWB or anything. Iam interested in learning more about it.

This has died because I ended up having not enough time and energy to continue with it. If you would like to continue with it, please feel free, I will be happy to chip in contributions when I can.
Arania Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Ok, thing is just that I don't have any book to go with the deck. So I will have to work completely in the fly by just what the images give me, without knowing if that's the same thing the creator thought.

If you can, the companion "The Spirit of Herbs" it is well worth getting and contains more info than I put in these posts and gives you much more info behind the authors intent.
Arania Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I only got the deck in a decorated box out of an estate, nothing else with it. I know which deck it is because I have a digital version, but decks I don't have a real copy of don't normally raise my interest much. I kind of need to connect to a deck physically before doing anything else with them. I'll check if my local store gets a copy of the companion book. Maybe it came with the rest of the stuff they got out of this estate. I do have lots of books about herbs though. 🙂
Grace Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Oh my gosh!!!! This excites me to no end!!! I need to get a hold of one of these decks and study/experiment.

This deck is awesome. I thoroughly recommend it and it's companion book (The Spirit of Herbs). You can find some pictures of it in the Deck Library.
