I seem to find myself subscribed to threads I haven't partaken in, while missing notifications about the threads I have.

Is there a way to sort out our thread subscriptions? Also, how do you make sure you get notifications?

Might you have hit the [ADD BOOKMARK] option at the top of the threads? That's how you subscribe to threads you're interested in, even if you haven't participated in them.

As for notifications, there's an option beside the [ADD BOOKMARK] called - yup! - [NOTIFY]. :)

Hope this helps!

Having written all this, it's just occurred to me that the positions of these options might be different depending on which theme you're using. I'm using the Astronomy one.

Hi Anouk[/member] other ways to check are the two links in the top right corner:

- Show new replies to your post

- Show unread posts since last visiti

adore this forum and Simple Machines is a great forum software but I still haven't got used to the notifications and miss them / lose threads all the time.

Unless like others have suggested you bookmark the most important threads to come back to or look at unread threads or new replies, it's so easy to lose new notifications. It does it better through tapatalk on mobile devices but if I want to reply to a long post or read a lot of text, I like a bigger screen than my phone! Also if you so much as look at a new notification on a thread on tapatalk or click the link in an email notification, it clears it in the "new replies" stream of threads.

There is a list of all your notifications on the forum but it's tricky to find. I bookmarked mine to go to. The link is here. This shows all your notifications from most recently updated to oldest / least updated. So you can go through the pages and check / tick the threads you want to no longer follow. To get to this page on the forum (not via the direct link), you go to profile at the top and then click any of the menu options below. When you do, a sub menu appears at the top, click on modify profile and then option notifications. It's not easy  to get to but that is your list of them.

Oh thank you, it turns out I didn't have the notification option selected. No wonder I was missing notifications. I went looking for this and couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks for the direct link.

I apologise, Anouk[/member]  - I've just re-read my post and it does sound a bit snarky, which definitely wasn't my intention. I didn't take much notice of that part of my screen when I first came to the Forums and found them either by accident or by reading about them somewhere. I thought you might have been in the same boat.

Not at all. I honestly thought they would do something different. I thought bookmark would add it your browser bookmarks and notify would notify someone else.
