So, I had some Amazon vouchers and had been going to buy my son's birthday present with them, but the price went up and I bought it elsewhere. So now I'm thinking I can buy something for myself. There's a book I'm definitely getting,  but I could also get a tarot or oracle deck. These are the ones currently on my wish list:

Burning Serpent Lenormand

Wild Unknown Animal Spirit deck

Dreaming Way Lenormand

Spiritsong Tarot

Zillich Tarot

The Illuminated Tarot (Caitlin Keegan)

Wild Unknown Tarot

Ostara Tarot

I'm being very indecisive as I'm unlikely to be able to buy another deck for a while! Can anyone give pros and cons for any of these?

You’ve got some great options there. :)

I have these decks from your list:

Ostara

Pros: different art styles, good prompt for intuitive readings, beautiful box

Cons: different art styles - you may much prefer one and feel it lacks cohesion, cardstock feels a bit thin

Wild Unknown

Pros: great if you like animal symbolism, sparse imagery but expressive, lovely cardstock and sturdy box.

Cons: bit of a departure from RWS, mostly black and white so not great if you love colourful decks

Zillich

Pros: beautiful watercolour deck, images seem to flow, great for colour symbolism, based more on Thoth images, in a tin!

Cons: misprint on initial printing (may be fixed now), small size

The decks I most enjoy reading with are the Wild Unknown and the Zillich. They are almost opposite in terms of use of colour but they are great decks. The misprint on the Zillich doesn’t bother me at all.

The Illuminated tarot is not a real tarot deck.  It is 53 cards so it’s closer to a playing card deck.  I love the deck and use it like a tarot deck but on the other hand, sometimes I miss the ‘missing’ cards.

I think I need to decide if I want something I'd use for reading or something I want to look at.

Love the look of the Zillich but Thoth based and I don't read with the Thoth.  The Lenormands are lovely, but I've never got my head my head round reading with them either.

I think Flaxen has a point about the Ostara. To add to the collection, different art styles are fine. I might not be quite so keen to read with it.

And Saturn Celeste has a point about the Illuminated.

So that narrows it down rather effectively -

Hmm, I'm now tempted to put the book on hold and get the Wild Unknown and the Animal Spirit. I do like a matching tarot and oracle...

Edit - though that made me think there was an oracle by the artist for the Line Strider, and there is, the Hedgewitch Botanical Oracle Cards. The Line Strider is next for study after the Greenwood. Also I have a few animal themed decks, not so much with plants.

I know how tempting it is to go with another deck, but personally I would go with the book.  Increasing your Tarot knowledge is just as important (if not more) as increasing your deck collection.

Depends on the book, after 6 7 uou start to realize the information is the same, so you start to try to get intermediate books to advance. Examples tarot and astrology, tarot court cards,  maybe tarot and elemental figinities or psychic tarot.

I also recomend a tarot book combo like wizards, witches. Green witch, etc. A good book on the tarot you get can really add to your knowledge.

It's not a tarot related book. It's a novel and I have 120 unread books on my Kindle currently, so I think it can wait a bit!

I'm almost certainly going to go with the Hedgewitch Botanical Oracle Cards.

In that case, definitely go with the deck!
