GreatDane Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I know we all talk about decks we're looking at, anxious to see come out, BUT what about the darlings that didn't work out? I really don't like clutter and something I don't like, don't want to use becomes clutter, no matter how pretty. So how many decks are you saying bye bye! to in 2019? For me, TWO.
LoveLightPeace Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I'll be gifting one of my OOP decks to a good friend of mine. She loves it and it's a deck that she doesn't have yet. I'm not fond of it, and I know that it's going to someone that loves it. Perfect way to make room for another deck that I really want. Other than that, I don't think I'll be saying good-bye to any other decks. At least not willingly, at this point in time. lol
GreatDane Posted January 20, 2019 Author Posted January 20, 2019 So true, LoveLightPeace! Hanging on to decks we don't really want takes up space a new loved deck could X/ <3
Jewel Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 I have to admit I am terrible at letting go of decks LOL. But I am committed letting some go this year. Two I know I want to let go for sure are: The Wildwood (deck/book set) and the Mystic Dreamer (deck/book set). I will most likely also be letting go of the Favole (deck). I will possibly be looking to get rid of: Fantastical Creatures (Lisa Hunt), Faerie Tarot (Nathalie Hertz).
GreatDane Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 I hear ya, LoveLightPeace and Jewel! For me, Ancient Italian and Mystical Tarot.
Little Fang Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 I have maybe 3 that I'm donating to our Kemetic retreat auction this year. That way my Temple gets money and I clear up some room!
GreatDane Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 That's GREAT, Little Fang! It's a DOUBLE WHAMMY of good vibes! X/
Mab Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 It is a bit like pulling teeth for me to get rid of anything, let alone a tarot deck.... ::) but, on occasion, I have let some go into an auction we do at a yearly gathering I attend.. of course, I buy more stuff when I'm there...
Thoughtful Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Well l have got rid of decks in the past only to wish now that l hadn't. So l am a bit hesitant to clear the decks so to speak. l don't have that many taking up lots of room, l tell myself ;D
stellar4 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 I'm having an all-round clear out of stuff anyway, and there is a pile of decks to go (the Dexit heap). I reckon that if they have been hanging around here for years without me reading with them or barely looking at them (and in some cases not even liking the artwork) then they need to go somewhere they will be appreciated. Having said that, there are plenty of Remainers that I actually like, use or have ambitions to when I get time. I entertained lofty thoughts of spending any sale proceeds on sensible things like a new printer but somehow it all seems to be going on other decks again..... My intentions are good though!
GreatDane Posted January 27, 2019 Author Posted January 27, 2019 I see I have company rethinking which decks stick around! X/ I see nothing wrong in keeping all decks anyone wants to keep. It's just that with anything, if I don't really want it, am not attached, it's taking up space. Maybe I have honed that even more over having made many house moves. I do like I can fit all my decks in a LARGE tote bag and just go. And a big part, THANKFULLY, not a lot of decks call out for me to buy them and read with them. Being on a tight budget, I would so be in trouble if they did.
stellar4 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Yes GD, moving house certainly focusses the mind on what it is really worth keeping or letting go. My latest round of clearing out has been prompted in part by helping 3 different people sort out their stuff, pack it and also move it in one case; it has really made me look at what I truly value and what I wouldnt really miss. I have got rid of a fair few cheaper decks (amongst other things) but bought in only a few other slightly more pricey ones that I really want and will use. I'm trying to keep to a personal rule that if a few things come into the house than a few have to leave it. If I have to move from my own house I want to be able to do so as easily as possible, but while I live here it will be nice to have some clear space.
GreatDane Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 EXACTLY stellar4! I have two decks I will move along this year. Right now, I have nothing on deck wish list, but at least with two going, there will certainly be room for one coming in X/
Lantana Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 I’m hoping to get rid of my Housewive’s Tarot and my Crystal Visions tarot. Both are decks I decided to get even though I felt unsure about them. Crystal Visions was at least a bit well loved, as it was my second deck. I’m also thinking about getting rid of my Shadowscapes, maybe. I have so many indie decks and yet it’s the mass market ones that end up going to the pile.
sandrang123 Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 When they don't work they just don't. Got two OOP decks. I don't hold onto things that don't work. No regrets, either. Release is good, too.
GreatDane Posted February 6, 2019 Author Posted February 6, 2019 That's how I feel, sandrang123. I only want decks I read with. If they don't work, I move along. Makes room for a deck I WILL read with X/
Jewel Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 That's how I feel, sandrang123. I only want decks I read with. If they don't work, I move along. Makes room for a deck I WILL read with X/ That is where I am at in my Tarot journey as well. OOP, rare, etc means little to me in terms of keeping it if it does not work for me and just collects dust. I am not expecting to ever make serious money on them later in life or whatever, so prefer to see them go to good homes where they can be loved and used. Trades are fabulous for those kinds of decks lol.
