A Tarot Rookie

Featured Replies

Hello~

I'm pretty new to tarot. I've had two readings in the past by others professionally, but I'm not very experienced.

I skirted around the idea of buying my own deck for a while, even playing around with a deck of cards as a substitute, but finally brought two decks last week. I often can't see the wood for the trees so I like to use them as prompts to see things I may be missing and to get me out of my head. Still getting used to the cards and learning to read them.

Hope to learn lots while I'm here  :)

Welcome to a big, wide Tarot world, biscuit!  :)

Getting started is often daunting, but there's an excellent mentoring programme on these forums that you might be interested in. Out of interest, which decks did you buy, and how are you finding them?

Hi Wanderer,

I brought the Universal RWS as I thought this would be a nicer starter pack, and the Mystical Manga.

Admittedly I haven't really touched my Rider Waite that much since getting them. I really like the artwork on the Mystical Manga deck and it's being a fun deck to play around with. Just been using the Rider Waite one as a sort of translator - so if something doesn't make sense in the manga deck, I pull out its Rider Wait deck equivalent to see if those images help me more.

Welcome to TT&M! Its always good to start by reading the rules. You will need 5 posts before you can participate in some of the areas (such as the reading circles). If you have any questions about how the forum works, then you can post in the help desk. We look forward to getting to know you!

Welcome! It's great to have you here. X/

welcome home biscuit!...3 decks already, a slippery slope. And playing card decks are a wonderful resource.
