GreatDane Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 I have moved a deck along, then some time passed and I thought I MIGHT want it back. Most of the time that passes, and I don't get it again, remembering why I gave it up in the first place. The ONE deck I don't regret getting again....The BOHEMIAN GOTHIC. Granted, I wasn't happy til I got the first edition (easier for me to shuffle and the one I liked the images best), but goes to show sometimes it is really good to give a deck a second chance, sometimes maybe not so much. Yes, part was I just didn't bond with all the images from other editions and the card stock from 2nd and 3rd eds weren't my fav, but PART of it was just finally bonding with the vibe of the deck. Having it resonate more as time went on. SO...WHAT decks have you contemplated getting...AGAIN? WHY did you give them up in the first place? And if you got them again, how did it work out the second time?
Guest Night Shade Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 I got rid of the Dark Grimoire Tarot because it totally creeped me out, yet sometimes I regret it (for no apparent reason), and almost want to give it another go. Then I come to my senses and realize that I really can't afford to waste another $25. I think I just don't like that a deck got the better of me, and I want to try to conquer my fear of it.
GreatDane Posted February 28, 2019 Author Posted February 28, 2019 That's a really interesting reason, Night Shade! I can understand that. For me, it was I got the second ed, the one that had some printing issues, and I got THREE decks all with red bits on it, so that was kind of starting off wrong, but I journaled with it, worked with it and just wasn't resonating. Then a couple years later, borrowed a friend's and she showed me FIRST ed, and I thought I wanted to try again. I was gifted a THIRD ed and I felt like Goldilocks, it wasn't quite right, but I still liked the images (as I had when I got the second ed). I WAS LUCKY enough that a kind ATer was willing to trade one of her first ED BGs for an OOP deck I had and the rest is history. It's one of my fav decks and wouldn't part with it.
Jewel Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 For me it was the Buckland Romani. I never really read with it or anything, was not sure how I felt about it, and got an opportunity to trade it (when it was still in print) for something different that I really wanted (don't remember what). Down the road when it was reprinted I picked up a second copy thinking I should give it a chance as I have always been intrigued by things related to Gypsies. I still have not used the deck but one of these months will make it my deck of the month and finally give it a chance.
Jewel Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I hope you share how it goes, Jewel! X/ I will. I journal with my deck of the month in the journaling thread, use it in offering circle readings as well, read the companion book if the deck comes with one, and at the end of the month I write a review about the decks :D
