On traditional TdM cards, the Judgement Card, most every one, has the man and woman, the man looking up to the angel and there's the third figure with its back to us. I myself have never really been able to figure this third image out. Is it the couples baby? Is it a soul? Their soul? Is it a dead soul rising out of a coffin to help, ascending up to the angel? In some decks its blue, some flesh colored, some pale white.

I know there is no one absolute answer to this, but I am curious what other readers may feel about this third figure. I myself am honestly having a hard time reading this particular figure. Thank you.

To me this is a child, it is not necessarily the querent's child or anybody's child in particular. Judgement to me is self-reflection, awakening. Depending on the question/querent it could the 'child' representing the start of awakening or the inner-child.

The child makes me think of when Jesus said "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 18:3, NIV).  I think in regards to the Judgement card, this means that you can never have a full spiritual awakening unless you learn to open your arms to and have complete trust in the messages you receive from Spirit or your higher self, the way that children do.  Children don't question the magic in the world - they just accept it.  Judgement says that we should too, if we want to reach enlightenment.

That's brilliant Night Shade. Must be why adults eventually turn to tarot sometimes for answers.

I notice on some of my older Grimaud decks the female is looking at the figure with a smile on her face, while on my Camoin decks she's looking at the man with a smile on her face. I also notice that the woman-man and angel form a triangle, a divine symbol while the baby sits outside it with its back turned towards the reader.
