I'm not sure if this is different of not, but I sometimes think of the Page of Pentacles as someone who's completely focused on whatever has their attention at the moment, whether it's the object of their affection, or their latest project.  This focus can easily turn into obsession, to the point where they can't see anything else around them.

I noticed when reading for someone the other day and this card came up, that he really really stares into that pentacle in front of him. Especially in the RWS image and other versions of the card. His sole focus is about manifesting his dreams to have future material security, that might be through a new job, studying as a student or a business plan. It's the bottom rung of a ladder to improve their situation.

I wonder though if he holds the pentacle or if it is floating just out of reach, like chasing an ambition or that is his goal.

There is a motivation and desire ahead, there is a plan ahead! But what about the world around him outside of the pentacle? I think that fits into Night Shade's idea about being obsessed. However there is a line there, this person needs to master something, a skill, education or career plan, that needs long term focus and commitment. The line is giving it their all and becoming obsessed with just one thing in their life to an unhealthy level.

This person plans everything ahead and is very practically minded. They might spend so much time studying for their education that they don't have time to go and socialise and meet new people for a romantic situation, so they might join dating sites and plan to meet the right person, there might not be much romance there, it's all for practical reasons in that moment.

After reading so many books and listening to so many people interpreting cards differently, I don't really know what a standard definition is, but here is what I have in my study guide:

Page of Pentacles

Someone: The diligent student or apprentice, a hard worker. Young at heart. Trustworthy, practical, and down to earth. Someone with a vision of a grounded future.

Shadow

May be someone who sabotages their long term future with material indulgences, trivial and meaningless luxuries. Someone doing the least amount of work necessary.

Situation/Action: New endeavor or renewed commitment involving long term prosperity. Opportunity to learn, grow and invest in the future of resources: physical health, sustainable relationships, work, or other endeavors that aid in well-being and a life of physical and spiritual balance and abundance. Seeking and beginning the work toward stability.

Shadow

Taking risks that impede long term goals. Not enough focus on long term substance, value and meaning, or being naive in choices of that nature. Frivolous material endeavors. Intemperate living, being lax about choices regarding well-being.

As the pentacle is of the earth, i often think they symbolise humanist and/or nature's little gems.  Look around.  Be it a creation of jewelry or clothes, or the red rose in your garden, the pentacles are the magic of this earth.  Even money is magic.

And so is the mirror.  The page holds the pentacle at head height ... it is the mirror and he/she is Narcissus.  The person is beautiful & don't they know it.  In fact the page notices nothing but the reflection, & beauty has made this person shallow ... he/she uses looks & charm to get what they want.  I have a teenage sister just like this....although in very young people i don't think it's shallow, it's just natural, they just respond to how other's treat them.

At best the Page obsessively follows their dream.  At worst they are: Mirror, mirror on the wall...

I've received the Page of Pentacles as an outcome card regarding a failing relationship a number of times now. For me, I think the Page of Pentacles is excited to chase a new project, so much so that they lose all focus on other areas of their life. In my relationship, I believe it hints that I'll choose to put the rest of my energy towards my career and studies, rather than splitting it between the stress of this relationship.

As a person I have seen a student in the most cases, like they are focused in it, in their career and stuff related to it.

In my "Tarot 101" series of blog posts, I had this to say about the Page of Pentacles:

"As a person involved in the situation, the Page/Princess of Pentacles aims to serve. She is pleasant and obliging; there isn’t a contrary bone in her body. Ask her for something and she will give you double if it’s within her power. As a friend she has an uncanny knack for just the right gesture at just the right time, and will go out of her way to make you feel appreciated. Her sense of comportment is finely tuned, and she can be genuinely ingratiating without seeming obsequious. As Earth of Earth (that is, a double exponent of the element), she could be considered the “salt of the earth and the savor” (Chaucer’s usage), a pure and simple exemplar of homespun goodwill.  In terms of companionship, she is a rare find indeed. On the negative side, she can too easily become an uncomplaining  “doormat” for more assertive – and less considerate – types to wipe their feet on.

As an attitude or behavior of the seeker, the Page/Princess of Pentacles advises being kind if it suits you, and at least congenial if it doesn’t. There is no percentage in being ornery when a pleasant word costs nothing.

As an impersonal influence upon one’s life, this card can describe a “learning opportunity;” what must be learned is the value of generosity and compassion."

The "student" idea comes from Waite, and I don't pay a lot of attention to Waite in many cases. The card reminds me of the pleasanter side of Virgo.

I don't know what the standard meaning is.

But perhaps the following isn't part of it, so here goes : Your dreams are not a reality... or unlikely to be so. Don't judge by appearances. There is fruition round the corner, but you may miss it if you're not attentive enough. Then all those riches will go to waste. Such a shame.

(This is based on Tarot of Marseilles possible meanings. I don't know anything about RWS - or rather I used to know but made sure to forget as soon as I could.)

I definitely get this card for being curious you wanna get to know everything about person or situation. Also asking a lot of questions about things but not in a spying or nosey trying to be all up in your business way, like the page of swords lol. But just asking a lot of inquisitive questions.

Also I get this card for people who are also too touchy rather it’s of people or things.

Interesting and thought-provoking. I hadn't thought of the Page of Pentacles as hyper-sensitive, but if any of the Pentacles court is touchy it would be the Page. If I recall (and don't quote me) in Jung's system the element of Earth would relate to the realm of sensation, so being touchy could be a symptom of having one's "feelers" over-extended to the point that taking umbrage is par for the course. It reminds me of the more problematic side of Virgo (that would be the overly critical, shrewish side - hey, I have three Virgo sisters and my mother was Virgo as well, so call me biased).

I tend to think exactly the same thing about the Page, completely absorbed by whatever he's into!
