Hemera Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 Everyday Witch Tarot (D.Blake & E.Alba 2017 Llewellyn) Queen of Wands “Intuitive Seer” Description: A woman dressed in a red silk dress is sitting on the tail of a golden dragon. She holds flower in her hand and her wand in her other hand is raised as if to cast a spell. She looks gentle and almost sad. Oh, and she wears a lovely pair of shoes, all golden and red and matching her red gown and her golden dragon. (Many ladies in this deck seem to wear pretty shoes.) Images, symbolism, colours: -Hummingbird: I didn’t understand the symbolism at first but when I looked it up it made perfect sense. “Always actively seeking the sweetest nectar, they remind us to forever seek out the good in life and the beauty in each day. The prime message of the hummingbird animal totem is: "The sweetest nectar is within!" -Dragon is a very complex symbol and vastly different in the East and West. Here it symbolizes supernatural power, wisdom, strength, and hidden knowledge. Dragon blood is a talisman, ensuring good fortune, health and luck. Symbolic meaning of the Dragon is to enter the Realm of Magic, Dragon is the preminent symbol of protection and an ally from dangerous foe From the Book (Everyday Witch Tarot, Llewellyn 2017): -She is kind and tough. She believes in turning your passion into glorious and productive forward movement. -strong female figure, you or someone else. Associations (idea from a book by Mary Greer) Plant: Peony Animal: Dragon (obviously) Landscape: Old castle or manor in the countryside Colors: Red, Gold Traditional meanings (Mary K. Greer): -pursue the ideas about which you feel most passionate -someone who is witty, charming, warm, energetic, creative -mother or a mother figure -express yourself with boldness This card encourages to: -take charge -set new directions -don’t apologise for, or hide your wild side Warns against: -stagnation (your job is done, now move on) -sudden changes of mood Notes: -I think this queen looks sad. Which makes me sad because this is usually one of my favourite cards in tarot. I’m sure she was just meant to look “gentle and kind” like the LWB says. But I think she looks just plain sad. She does not convince me about her ability to be friends and equals with that fiery dragon she is riding on. The only fiery thing about her is the color of her silk dress. Yes, and her lovely shoes!
