TeaDotOz Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Hi again :) Almost have the problem solved but not 100% yet. I don't think I explained my problem properly. Does anyone know what size choices for the paper that original art is on should be to fit the tarot template for cards measuring 2.75x3.75 ? My originals were wonky in that the figures had to be stretched taller as well as when Gamecrafter cut them, there was some white showing on some edges. I'm redoing them and changing some so don't mind doing them again, but want to make sure they look the same when printed. Our scanner model is HP ENVY Photo 7855 if that helps. I'm making them small enough to fit the scanner but would love to know my size choice being right on. 10 1/2 × 6 3/4 is my drawing size with a small border. Also I was thinking that when they cut them , with the border....If the cut is slightly off it won't matter if the border is slightly off on some rather than the stark white edge on some of them from being cut slightly off. Will the border help with that? Anxious to get doing them but don't want to mess up like last time. :( Thanks so much for any help. Tea
DevonCarter Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 11" x 15" would work. or 8.25" x 11.25". If those are too big for your scanner, 5.5" x 7.5" would also scale proportionally. Those numbers are 2, 3 and 4 times the size of the final cards - you don't have to stick to round numbers, just numbers are not my thing so I wanted to keep it simple! I don't think you will find a "standard" paper size that is proportionally correct, but you could cut larger sheets down - 9" x 12" seems to be not uncommon in art media, which would work for the smaller sizes. Personally, I would cut a piece of cardboard the size you want the art to be, and then use that as a template to tape off the edges of the papers/boards/canvas you are working on leaving a window the proper size. I mostly paint in watercolor, so for me that would make a nice edge and I like to tape it down to a board when working anyway. Any border that shows in the scan can be cropped off later - scans nearly always need some digital adjustment anyway. Good luck!
TeaDotOz Posted March 21, 2019 Author Posted March 21, 2019 Thanks for the help. That sure helps. Last time I had no borders and there was bits of ugly white along some edges. I was going to use borders but just noticed that Gamecrafters specifically says no borders. Guess I'll go back to none and keep the backgrounds light for cutting. I'm no good with numbers either lol. Just need them to be correct and also fit the scanner. So anxious to get them started but soooooo confusing lol Tea
TeaDotOz Posted March 21, 2019 Author Posted March 21, 2019 Realize I will have to cut the paper to size to be correct and also fit scanner. Cutting out a template is a great idea. Just need something that's not too small to draw on and still fit scanner.
TeaDotOz Posted July 20, 2019 Author Posted July 20, 2019 Finally got it all sorted. Thanks for all the help. One deck printed as first draft. Needs a few tweaks like some cards need lightening and a touch of white showing on the backs, but it's getting there lol
