Messages leads to Profile Page

Hello!

 

I'm using the Astronomy theme and whenever I click on My Messages / Messages, I end up on my Profile page instead of in my messages inbox.

 

Is this a glitch or am I missing something? (The way I usually access my messages is clicking the messages link next to my avatar on the top left of the screen.)

The drop down menu only works if you’re on a PC. So if you’re not on a PC, then simply ignore the menu and press the main Messages button a second time. Should do the trick!

No, I think it's more than that.

 

I use a laptop and the Green Flowers theme.  If I hover the cursor over the "messages" button in the middle of the banner near the top of the screen I get the drop down menu and proceed without a problem.  But if I just click on "messages" it takes me to my inbox about two thirds of the time, but to my Profile page the other third.

It's a real trick if you're using a device like an IPad which I use.  You click on messages and a drop down menu appears.  Then you have to slide over to the middle selection Inbox to get to your inbox. Most of the time it takes me a few tries but you will get it.  It's the sliding over from the main message menu to the secondary one that actually takes you to your inbox that is so tricky!

Yes, that's exactly how it works on the laptop too, with the hover method.  It is tricky and it does often take a few times.

 

But with the click method, which used to be a quicker way of going directly to the inbox, I sometimes end up on my Profile page instead, and I think that's what Starlight means.

 

It's not a big deal and I never bothered to report it but I just figured I'd show some solidarity for Starlight's struggle!

Thank you, everyone. I've figured it out. There is a trick - and it's thanks to all of your responses that I found it. :)

 

I use a PC and if I hover over "My Messages" I get the drop-down menu. But clicking on "Messages" (I only have three options in the drop down menu, the top one is Messages) brings me to my profile page.

 

HOWEVER, if I just click on the My Messages without hovering - presto! I'm in my inbox.

Oh that is tricky. I’m just trying a new iPad and the sliding seems to hold that second menu open long enough to prod Inbox. It’s amazing how many different ways all these devices can find to make the same simple task more awkward but I think that’s in part because using the same method gets them sued by their rivals for infringement of patent  >:(.
