This week I'll be using the White Sage Tarot - cutest little fool ever, IMO.  ;)  I'm stepping up to a small deck (after last week's mini).

I'd like to join in with this. I am going to go with my China Tarot deck. It's the hardest one for me so I need more practice.

welcome to the easygoing gang AnomalyTempest.  Is that the Jui Guoliang deck? One of the most beautiful I have I think. I wish the booklet was better about what the images were meant to represent from the ancient chinese viewpoint.

Songs For The Journey Home for me VG, thank you.

My mind is disordered in so many ways, I'm hoping this deck with offer some salve :)

Welcome AnomalyTempest!    X/

I'm having a very disordered day/week too AJ, it takes me about 20 minutes to get one thing done because I am so easily distracted.  (Squirrel!)

The artwork is by Der Jen. I'm not sure if they are the same thing. Here is a picture of The Magician. It's a Lo Scarabeo deck. The LWB is pretty basic and it lacks any mention of the symbolism. Just has some basic numerology info and keywords. The pips not illustrated either and that intimidates me a bit. It's why I chose this deck. I will have to really hold myself accountable to use it. :D

ah, totally different decks anomaly!

Queen, I Love the Ostara deck. It works so well even though a co-op of four artists. I wish they'd do one for the other three seasons.

One of my favorites too and I've had the same thought as you AJ, about additional decks  for the other seasons.

The White Sage is minimalist, but It's reading well for me so far.

I loved the art of the China Tarot, but it was not my favorite reading deck.    If I remember right it's a pip deck?  Sometimes I do okay with them, sometimesthey are too taxing for my easily distracted brain.

Yeah, it really helps that the artists have fairly similar styles. If you're interested in companion season decks, I know the artist for the Children of Litha deck is planning on doing an Ostara, Mabon and Yule decks. I'm sure that's a while away though 😅

I think I will work with “The Good Tarot,” by Collette Baron-Reid. I got it in 2017 when it first came out but haven’t given it too much time. It’s uplifting and I need that in my life right now.

X/ Welcome to the group, Nivian - that looks like a lovely tarot deck.

I had been out of town for the past two weeks and just got home Saturday and spent the next to days handling all the things neglected while I was away. Today was the first chance I had to sit with the China Tarot. I decided to go through the deck, one card at a time and write down the first word that came to mind. I was a bit worried about the pip cards since they are not illustrated and the only real difference was the number of emblems. I think I was also intimidated by the fact I had read a few reviews where the general consensus seemed to indicate that it was more of an art deck and difficult to read with.

It turns out it was not as hard as I thought it would be to pick up impressions and the Pentacles were especially coherent. Cards 1 through 10 were very much about business and money while it was easy to see the Courts as various rungs on the ladder to success. This really surprised me.

Pentacles:

1. Profit (As in opportunity for)

2. Gain (the goal of any enterprise)

3. Employment

4. Clinging (not miserly but more like the excitement of your first paycheck when you wanted to hang on to every penny.)

5. Extravagance (when you realize the money will keep coming and you decided to treat others)

6. Division (dividing the profits for re-investment or expenses)

7. Growing

8. Repetition

9. Satisfaction

10. Plenty.

My favorite card in this deck is Strength. The Lion appears to be rubbing against her and she shows definite affection for him. It's more than taming the beast. They care for each other.

Welcome Nivian!

I like that Strength card, it's gorgeous.

White Sage is still a little small for me, card-wise, but I'm finding it very peaceful.

A diller, a dollar...

I'm in with the Old Memories Tarot this week. I'm attaching a photo of The Chariot, which is a card I rarely see in my readings anymore and rarely think about. So, I love that it turned up in the past few days while I've been engaged in switching my tarot/sewing room to a different room in my very tiny house -- an undertaking I've been thinking and talking about for two years. This Chariot image -- the charioteer AND the chariot -- mirror exactly how I feel this morning as I survey the completely empty room I'm about to move into. The work is not nearly done, but I have more strength today than I did at the start of this a week ago!

VG & Bodhiseed: Thank you for melting my heart. <3 That Fool put the White Sage at the top of my wish list.

AnomalyTempest: I love your list of meanings for the Pentacles pips!

AJ: I have three copies of the Chinese Tarot by Jui Guoliang. (I cannot resist a deck that I love when it finds me in a used bookstore. It's like bringing home a stray puppy, only Mom isn't here to say no.)

That Charioteer looks like he is so full of confidence ( I can just hear him saying 'Bring it on!'). Hope the move from one room to another goes smoothly as possible.

I couldn't help sharing that little Fool once I saw him. :D

AnomalyTempest[/member] : I agree with Squee about the keywords - what a great exercise for a new deck.

I can't take credit for the idea. I read it somewhere and started doing it when I first flip through a new deck before I really have a chance to form opinions on it. I realized I had never done with the China Tarot as it was one of the first I bought years ago. (I was given two Tarot decks and two Oracle decks and this might be the first deck I actually bought myself.)
