I'll be using the Visconti Madrone Tarot this week.

It's been a strange week this week.  Not horrible, just strange.

I was on the fence for a long time regarding the Dearly Departed Bastard Tarot. It felt gimmicky to me. In my mind, it would offer no surprises once you got past the coffin-shape in the borders and the cool skull on the backs. However, despite my apprehension, when I had the opportunity, I traded for it. The one I have is the largest size with a matching zipper bag. And I have to admit: I LOVE IT! This deck feels massive and looks impressive -- professional even. Plus, its format and style add a certain pizazz to the spread cloth that gets a WOW even from my family, who have become accustomed to a wide variety of tarot decks parading across my table. Most importantly, it keeps things interesting with its mixture of Rider-Waite and Etteilla images. In the end, Dearly Departed surprised me after all.
