I did this regular 3 card reading about my day yesterday (thanks for the spread Trogon by the way, I changed the centre card to challenge instead of blockage!) and I got

(1) Situation: 10 of wands      (2) Challenge: 4 of wands        (3) Advice: XVII - The Star

And just looking at the cards I thought (1) looked heavy, oppressive, overwhelming, but if I zoomed in on the part where it's a tiny bit brighter I would see (2) which is less wands and has kind of a portal in the middle. If I went through the portal I would arrive at (3), the beautiful star. It was really cool since that doesn't usually happen so easy for me!

It's my birthday so I've been getting a lot of 10's for the last few days, apt as my year card is changing from The Hanged Man to Death. The WU Death looks like all the flesh and innards have rotted away and I'm left with the bare bones... what will I do with them?

Happy Birthday! I suppose it's belated now, but it's sincere all the same. :) *HUGS*

Oooh, I like this three-card spread! If you and Trogon don't mind, I might write it down and give it a try!

I have never been attracted to the WU - as several people have said, sparse decks don't tend to do it for me - but I've heard other people say that the sparseness does help them, even if that's contrary to their previous experience. It seems to be an interesting deck.

I definitely don't mind if you want to use a spread that I've posted. The original ("issue/blockage/advice") was from one of the LWB's on one of my decks. However, I have seen it in other books and web sites now. So, I think it's pretty much a "public domain" thing. Though Page of Ghosts' variation is really good.

Just use the spread GreenFaerie - I doubt any sort of 3-card spread is reinventing the wheel by now ;)

And thank you for the birthday wishes - I'm in a birthday mood all of September so it's not too late ;D

Sunday night I decided to pull a card from the A'HA Oracle, before I went to bed. I pulled "Serpent and Eggs". This card has come up a few times for me, often when I'm just getting or am about to get an idea for some creative project. This was true again Sunday night ... when I woke up Monday, I had an idea for a short story.

But ... the reason I wanted to post here, was to show how my dang mind works. I pulled that card and thought; "ooooh! Steak and Eggs! That sounds good!" ::)

Thanks to you both, Trogon and Page of Ghosts! I am going to try and sit down with my cards tomorrow, so I will give this spread a go. :)

Wild unknown is such a beautiful deck but not in a flashy way at all. Ok so a few cards made me scratch my head but I love that.

However I need some more challenging deck for next week and I have already picked out the one. So the rest of the time I go dual deck with the Arthurian tarot. Why have I never used this before? I love it!!!

Trogon, I think our minds work similarly!

So, I haven't really been a very good Deck-of-the-Week-er, since I haven't changed decks since I started and because I haven't really posted much about the deck (Rosetta Papyrus). Now that I am about to put it away for a while, I thought I'd just say a few words about it.

I do really love it, it's so colorful. It's my first time really digging into a Thoth-like deck, and I think now I get the attraction.

I have had some great readings with it (just for myself, as I don't really read for others, apart from an occasional reading circle here). I wouldn't be able to read with it at all without the guidebook (Book of Sheset) because of the all the symbolism, which I have enjoyed dipping into. I do, though. kind of look forward to leaving symbols behind for a while and just looking at some pretty pictures!

When I'm ready for some more symbols, I'm going to get myself a copy of Tabula Mundi, which I really, really want.

Jema, did you see the news blurb this week about the little girl who pulled the Lancelot sword out of the pond

where it was supposedly tossed into?  It turned out to be about 30 years old, probably a set prop, but they

were sure excited for a little while.

Your mind works like mine? That is unfortunate ... ;D

So, from what I can tell, the Rosetta Papyrus is the same as the Rosetta Tarot by Meleen, but the paintings were done on papyrus? That sounds very cool. I've looked at the Rosetta and the Tabulu Mundi and they're both on my wish-list.

I'm thinking that, since the 78 Weeks of Tarot study group will be starting on Sunday as well, that it will be a good time for me to go to the Thoth for the DotW. I'll be studying the Haindl Tarot for the 78WoT, and since it is Thoth based, I thought I would reacquaint myself with the Thoth at the same time. I'll be interested to see what you have to say about the TM and how it compares to the Thoth. (I'll try to remember to ask you. ;))

I've got to say that the Steampunk Tarot (Moore/Fel) has been great to work with these past few weeks. This is one of those decks which keep me feeling that, yes, a specific deck can  have a unique personality to it. The way it reads it just doesn't always tell me the answers in the way I expect.

Actually it's the same paintings as in the original version, but the borders are now papyrus-looking, and she uses hieroglyphics for the card names. The original sold out, and she just decided to change the deck up a little.

That idea has given me an idea of what to do now for DotW, which I was uncertain about. I think I'll cycle through my RWS decks, since I'll be using the Fairytale for the 78 weeks project, and that is RWS-based.

Well, the Shakespeare Tarot didn't do it for me this week, but someone probably will love it.  :D

I just wasn't in the mood for pip cards, maybe.

I like the Asherah more each time I read with it. It was easy for me to read out of the box, but keeps on unfolding the more I look at it.

Its structure shares aspects with both the RWS and the Thoth, and also definitely has the creator's own mark on it. (Kind of like you mentioned with the Haindl, Trogon, but I think that was over in 78 Weeks of Tarot, not here). Thoth purists may take issue with Justice at 8 (and the name Justice) while RWS fans may not like Strength as Lust. But it's clear the deck creator has given a great deal of thought to the choices she made over the decade she took to create the deck. It's given me a new perspective on several cards, and that alone makes it worth the purchase. But I also find it colorful and rich, with some startlingly beautiful cards.

The lwb is decent, giving a range of positive to negative keywords for every card, in addition to short notes about "the Fours" in general, for example. But there's a much more comprehensive guide free as a downloadable pdf, and though often the tone seems downright strident to my overly non-confrontational self, there's a lot to be found there.

By the way, if you're a fan of Dion Fortune, the creator was influenced and inspired by Dion's Mystical Qabalah.
