katrinka Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 (I really wasn't sure where to put this, so mods please move it if you see fit.) It's a "whatever happened to...?" blog post with a small reading and some theorizing. I had fun doing it. https://fennario.wordpress.com/2019/06/03/frankie-albano-please-call-home/ But I know a lot of you must have a different pet theory, or maybe you'd just like to post a reading on this. This is the thread for that!
Decan Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 (edited) Interesting! I have a Hercule Poirot side 🙂 So “What became of Frankie Albano after he disappeared?” Death + 10 of Pentacles + 6 of Pentacles Hmm... I tend to see anonymity also in the Death card, that is to say he isn't in the limelight anymore (actually his name or artist name) but metaphorically in the dark, things are definitively different for him now (whether if he is dead or still alive). This could say that his success belongs to the past, and he could live from some royalty or inheritance, but with the 6 of Pentacles he has to deal with some solidarity aspects as well, whether he is rich enough and is a philanthropist, or he has to ask for help because of money issues. Curiously, I thought that this weighing scales could be his karma or something, you know when they say that your actions will be judged and put on the scales; in this case he could be dead, with his ancestors at a family grave (a dark way to look at the 10 of Pentacles I recognize it!) Flaxen Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 This is so interesting - love a good mystery! I can definitely see Death as the death of the ‘persona’ Frankie Albano. Stage names were so common in that era and it would be easy to be ‘dead’ to the world by not using that name anymore. The Ten of Pentacles also makes me think of a physical legacy - in this case his deck? It was his gift to the world, he did alright financially out of it and that was enough. He had the finances to be comfortable himself and be generous towards others. I will pull some cards later and see what else comes up.

Yes! The public person has ceased to exist. He's "buried". 25 minutes ago, Decan said: This could say that his success belongs to the past, and he could live from some royalty or inheritance, That's an interesting angle that didn't occur to me, but you're correct. There could have been an inheritance involved. (I don't think the music, or even the deck, were enough to generate any real wealth. The music is pretty obscure. The deck is better known, but it was never a big blockbuster.) 25 minutes ago, Decan said: but with the 6 of Pentacles he has to deal with some solidarity aspects as well, whether he is rich enough and is a philanthropist, or he has to ask for help because of money issues. There's also a negative side.” Hmmm, yes. It's possible something caught up with him. He would have been mixed up with some interesting characters in 1960's California. And the music industry...Hunter S. Thompson said it best: "The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side." 😆

Eric13 Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 This is fascinating. Especially since I went to high school with a Frank Albano.
Flaxen Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 (edited) I pulled some cards using my PCS commemorative in a tin (unfortunately my Albano deck is currently in storage): ‘What became of Frankie Albano after he disappeared?’ Ace of Swords - Magician - The Lovers The Ace of Swords makes me think he had a moment of clarity - a new inspiration to follow. I love that the Magician has turned up - how apt for someone working with the Tarot and likely familiar with the Golden Dawn. Perhaps he decided focus on the magical path and he put his efforts into becoming a Magus. Alternatively, in a more prosaic sense, he may simply have become aware of a better way to use his many talents. The Lovers could indicate simply that he chose to follow a different path - one he fell in love with. The Lovers often seems like a binary choice - it’s either this or that...not both. An idea about how to use his skills in the best way, led him in a different direction. Edited June 4, 2019 by Flaxen Forgot to attach image

Did you know him fairly well, or was he just a guy you saw in the hallway? What was he like then? 47 minutes ago, Flaxen said: The Ace of Swords makes me think he had a moment of clarity - a new inspiration to follow. Just like that (snaps fingers). I'd love to see a natal chart on this guy (particularly a classical one, with fixed stars). But I don't think we even have a birthdate! I don't recall ever seeing a photo of him, either. There's a lot we don't know about him, even before he disappeared. Quote I love that the Magician has turned up - how apt for someone working with the Tarot and likely familiar with the Golden Dawn. Perhaps he decided focus on the magical path and he put his efforts into becoming a Magus. Alternatively, in a more prosaic sense, he may simply have become aware of a better way to use his many talents. Following the Ace of Swords, the old mountebank interpretation comes to mind, too. Maybe he was involved in a swindle of some kind and thought it best to cut ties? (Not casting aspersions here. People have gotten involved in things thinking they're perfectly fine and only found out later that they're looking at potential criminal charges!) This is just a shot in the dark, of course. It's more likely that it's as you say - the Magician in the GD is all about manifestation. Following the Ace of Swords, the idea, it really does look like he was enthused about doing something new. Quote The Lovers could indicate simply that he chose to follow a different path - one he fell in love with. The Lovers often seems like a binary choice - it’s either this or that...not both. An idea about how to use his skills in the best way, led him in a different direction. Yes. I'm guessing there might also be a literal partner in the picture. Good reading! Eric13 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 (edited) I knew him very well. He was almost the class clown. But this is absolutely not the same Frank Albano. Edited June 5, 2019 by Eric13
katrinka Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 LOL. There was a Jerry Lewis on my hometown. He worked for the undertaker and used to get roaring drunk and tell us about funeral parlor things like eye caps. *shudders* Not the same guy, obviously. But I do enjoy poring over the phone book in major cities and finding Paul McCartney, Jeff Dahmer, and Marilyn Chambers. You just KNOW those people have an awesome sense of humor. They need it to survive!
Eric13 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I would not like to be named Jeffery Dahmer. I once knew a Zoran Zoltan though.

Interesting quote, and harsh reality unfortunately! Well, as an exercice I tried to have another look at these cards in a more concrete way. So here we are all agree that the Death card shows a complete change for him. 10 of Pentacles + 6 of Pentacles. Okay I forget the way I saw the weighing scales in the 6 of Pentacles (a bit too abstract and far from the essential card meaning), and will say that with the 10 he is free from the need (with a possible inheritance involved). Concerning the 6 of Pentacles I finally won't go towards "philantropy" (while it's something relevant for Jeff Bezo's ex-wife, but well 🙂 ), but I would see this card as showing us that he still has a social activity (he deals with others with regard to money), so he could be just partially retired, or still has an activity with a social and helping aspect: can he be the accountant in a charity organization (helping young artists who struggle in the music industry)? Hmm, speculations, speculations 😃 but with the 10 at the center I nevertheless tend to see someone free from the need financially. ETA: oh boy, Zoltar Nostalgic (including Blue Crackle Finish) it's $10,500!! Edited June 6, 2019 by Decan
katrinka Posted June 8, 2019 Author Posted June 8, 2019 I agree. The specifics are, naturally, difficult to pin down. But in a general financial sense, he did OK. He wasn't one of those people you sometimes read about who disappear and are later found to be wandering, mentally ill and homeless. Nor do I see murder or suicide. This man had a comfortable life!
