Yay new thread! Thanks VG

I am gonna be dull and keep at it with Arthurian Tarot. I wouldn't say it is a fave deck, it has an edge to it, a bit like a pebble in my shoe.

I have a friend that talked me into Bullet journals. Might try it with tarot as a focus or else it just ends up being another whine fest

Thanks for the new thread, VG. I'm in this week with the Anna K, which I haven't used in years. I wonder how I'll like it.

I'm going to be brave and finally participate this week. I'm going to be using the Mesquite Tarot.

I've only done a general interview spread with it, but I really love it so far.

70's week was a lot of fun so I feel like extending it for one more!

Welcome Queen of Nothing, come on in, the DOTW water is fine!

I am in this week with the Ostera Tarot, one I failed to get in the LE version and was so happy when it came out in mass market.  :)

The Star Tarot was lovely, and adding it to the Deck for a Month list.

I had a short week with the Dark Goddess Tarot (thanks to Irma), but I enjoyed it thoroughly. This is not a deck I'd use to read for others, but it is great for personal readings.

This week I'll be using the Granny Jones Tarot and my Button Oracle. Thank you VG!

A warm welcome to the Queen of Nothing. :D

Great to have you with us Queen of Nothing! I'm looking forward to your thoughts on the Mesquite Tarot. I'm intrigued by the minimalist look of the cards.

I've been getting a lot out of the readings I've done with the Thoth Tarot, so will be staying with it this week. And, of course, still using the A'HA Oracle. (one of these days, I'll have to get the  :D

Hey guys, long time no see! I'm back with the Celtic Tree Oracle and the Green Witch Tarot this week. I find they pair nicely together.

Stalemates and Possibilities

This week I'll be using the Granny Jones Australian Tarot, created by Granny Jones and published by Kangaroo Press. Along with it, I'll be drawing from the Button Oracle, a set I made myself from a collection of buttons. Today's draws are the Two of Swords and Lizard:

Granny%2BJones%2BTarot%2B2%2BSwords.jpglizard.jpg

Uh oh... Instead of having a nice afternoon over tea, it looks like these two friends ended up butting heads over some issue. Each obviously held a firm opinion which led to the discussion going nowhere, because neither was willing to consider another perspective. It's a hard day when a friendship is tossed because of a point of view. The Lizard Button represents communication, because these reptiles rely heavily on body language and color to define territory, resolve disputes, and entice mates. The quote that goes with this button is by George Bernard Shaw:

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

Trying to convince another person to accept your viewpoint is debate, not discussion. Discussion seems to be a form of communication that is no longer in style (especially judging by what gets put on Facebook). Both the card and button reminded me of something I read by Krista Tippett in her book Becoming Wise:

I can disagree with your opinion, it turns out, but I can’t disagree with your experience. And once I have a sense of your experience, you and I are in relationship, acknowledging the complexity in each other’s position, listening less guardedly. The difference in our opinions will probably remain intact, but it no longer defines what is possible between us.

When we share our stories (instead of just opinions), we begin to see how life has shaped each of us. And once we see each other as simply human (not good/bad, right/wrong), it is possible to relate openly with each other.

Hello friends !

Long time no see, the past 15 days have been very hectic on my side, and I did not get much tarot reading done.

So I am back again with the Tarot of Prague .

Welcome Queen of Nothing ! I hope you'll like it here !

Bodhiseed, you have the Granny tarot, lucky you ! I love your reading and especially your thoughts on communication. Thank'you very much for sharing the quotes !

Happy sunday everyone !

Gosh, you all know how to make a girl feel welcome!  :D

I did a couple of readings with my deck, and so far I really do enjoy it. I'm still learning the basic meanings of the cards, so I find that more traditional RWS decks are really overwhelming. The minimalism if the Mesquite really lets me focus on the bare bones of the message its giving me, without being bombarded by all this imagery I have no idea how to even begin to interpret.

The Devil popped up recently and that was a fun one. Is the hand letting go, or holding onto the chain? What's on the other end of the chain? It came up in a question about habits I need to change, so it was a nice reminder of resolutions I made. Idk, it was just a lot easier to interpret for my question than the traditional actual Devil holding onto 2 people.

I would say that is an excellent description of one of the biggest plusses to using a minimalist deck. I don't have any that are quite as stark as the Mesquite Tarot, though the Light and Shadow Tarot approaches that. It's strictly black and white and moderate in it's use of imagery. I may have to revisit that one soon. I think the Mesquite Tarot is going on my wish-list though ...

I'll be going another week with the Sasuraibito Tarot.  :)

My thoughts on it so far... It's a LOT kinder than I expected. Most people I've talked to said it was a kick in the pants kind of deck, but it's all buddy buddy up to me. Which is fine, I have enough tough love style decks. However, it seems to be a really personal growth focused deck, which I DO have a lot of, so I'll have to see how it makes its own mark in the coming weeks.

Rose Lalonde - Roots of Asia Tarot

Another week of RoA for me.  Thanks, VG!

Hi everyone! Well I've missed a few weeks with you all and I'm itching to get back now! I'm also doing the 78 Weeks group which I'm a bit behind on, but I think it's a good idea for me to keep up on going through my decks here as well- in fact I need it!

I think I'm going to work with two of my recently acquired decks this week- the newly released Star Tarot and the Saltwater Reading Cards oracle deck. I think next week I'll start in on my autumn decks with the Equinox coming this Friday. I was thinking of starting more autumn-y decks this week, but it still feels a lot like summer here right now, and I am not complaining about that!

So far this week, I have used my Anna K. for two two-card readings for myself. I hadn't used it in years. I bought it when it was first published, and used it for a while, and then, as I often do with decks even if I really like them, I put it away and never took it out again. I'm so glad I took it out now. I had remembered not liking some of the images of people -- I thought they looked a little too troll-like. And I still think that could be a problem for some people. But it's such a friendly deck, and I love the colors and the size of the cards. My first reading was pretty funny. It had to do with empathy, and one of the cards had to do with having the courage to see yourself how others see you. I drew The Fool, which just made me laugh for the rest of the day. It's that kind of deck.

I have to admit that working with the Thoth Tarot is, at times, a little bit challenging. Not that it's hard to read with, but rather, it is making me think, and stretch out my intuition a little more. It is making me think about different ways to apply cards to real-life situations. I'm not having to change my ideas on a card, but rather expanding those ideas. It seems to be good at making me look deeper. It's also making me look a little more at the elements of the suits, the elemental correspondences of the Court cards and touching on the Kaballah, Astrology and numerology involved in the Majors.

I think, overall, this is a deck which excels in spiritual work, but doesn't mind helping a person with some of their more mundane matters when asked.

I liked the Ostara tarot very much, and would keep using it this week if I didn't have a couple other decks in the wings...

I haven't been online much this past week after Sunday, work is still really busy, but hopefully we'll get news on our new people in the next day or three.  My vacation starts this time next week too.  It's going to be interesting to see how everyone copes for 19 days without me, LOL.

NNNNNOOOOOOoooooooo!!!! You can't leave us!!!!!

That being said, do you need someone to host the DotW for the couple of weeks after next?

[ETA:] Crap ... never mind, I just remembered we're going on a short vacation the first couple of weeks of October.

Posted

No problem, I can host it for a while.  ;)

When are you leaving and back, VG?

Posted

No, no, I'll be HERE I just wont be at work for 19 days.  LOL.  Sorry for mistyping.    ;)

With the Giant Puppy's recent medical bills we are going to be home most of the time, sleeping in, doing inexpensive home projects, etc.    8)  So I'll be able to do the thread.  Probably keep up with it better without the insanity of work.

Posted

Well, at least you know we've got your back VG! ;D

Yes, and thanks for offering, and I'm glad you guys have my back.    :)
