Anouk Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Can you recommend a really straight to the point oracle deck with blunt messages like the hideous pink Angel cards by Doreen Virtue, but not so hideous? Lol I realise aesthetic is subjective, but I like art cards. Not into angel or animal cards. I'm curious about different kinds of oracle cards at the moment.
katrinka Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 DV decks are blunt? I'm confused...that was a typo, right? I'm liking this one so far: https://fennario.wordpress.com/2019/09/06/i-hate-oracle-decks-but-not-the-literary-witches/ And you can't go wrong with Valenza. The Oracle of Black Enchantment reads true. I'm tempted to get this Blood Edition, as well: https://deviantmooninc.com/products/red-edition-oracle-of-black-enchantment-preorder-april-1st-2019 And there's a Deviant Moon Oracle coming soon: https://deviantmooninc.com/blogs/deviant-moon-oracle-creation Other than that, there's Lenormand, Kippers, Sibilla, etc. They require a good amount of study and practice, but it pays off in spades. And if you lose your keys, they'll tell you where to look instead of saying, "Enjoy the peace within your heart" or "Your angels are with you."

There's one particular one, I'm not 100% sure what it's actually called but the cards are in-your-face purple, pink and yellow and just say "no" or other blunt answers. Just looking for something for when someone wants a blunt, black and white response. Literary Witches looks cool. Not quite as blunt but really interesting. I've tried to read Lenormand but do not understand. The combos just don't speak to me. I've never heard of Kippers or Sibilla. I'm going to research them.
Swanhild Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 If you like art, this is an obvious choice: https://www.amazon.com/Art-Oracles-Creative-Inspiration-Artists/dp/1786270137 I really like how it's simple and still versatile. Art buffs can interpret an extra layer based on the artists' life or style, but you can easily go with the meanings alone. There are versions with fashion, music and cat gurus as well, but this ine is my favourite of the bunch.

At face value, it doesn't look all that blunt. And the meanings in the booklet just skim the surface, They're suggestions, and they do work, but you can go so much deeper. When you look at the things these women wrote about, and some of the things they actually went through, it gets very blunt and edgy. I've yet to read works by all of them, but even looking them up on Wikipedia opens up a LOT of doors. 9 hours ago, Anouk said: I've tried to read Lenormand but do not understand. And I agree, not everybody is suited to this kind of system. You have to find what works for you. 😉

Jewel Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 I would record The Oracle of the Dragonfae and if money is not a concern The Victorian Flower Oracle. I am finding the Faerie Forest to be quite blunt as well.
