Practice Basic Meanings - Hedgewytch System

If you have memorised 'For the Witch of Poor Memory', you should be able to do this. I'm calling this the 'key word phrase'. It's the thing that should spring to mind as soon as you turn over the card, which you can then build upon in answer to the question and/or in relation to the surrounding cards. The key word phrase won't make sense on its own, but will be very helpful in reading the cards.

Fill in the card that matches the key word phrase, or if a card is given, fill in the key word phrase. Stick very closely to the words from the rhyme:

Body of money -

Beginning of trouble -

Woman of work -

Beginning of love -

Thoughts of work -

Exchange of money -

Love doesn't change -

'End' of work -

Man of love -

Work doesn't change -

'End' of love -

Man of love -

Path of work -

Path of love -

Man of work -

Body of trouble -

Exchange of love -

Beginning of money -

Growth of money -

Growth of trouble -

Now, write the key word phrase for these cards:

King of Spades -

4 of Diamonds -

10 of Diamonds -

Jack of Clubs -

Ace of Clubs -

6 of Diamonds -

7 of Clubs -

9 of Hearts -

7 of Diamonds -

9 of Spades -

Now, write the card for the key word phrase:

'End' of trouble -

Change of work -

Path of trouble -

Change of money -

Trouble of trouble -

Growth of work -

Message of money -

Body of love -

Exchange of work -

Man of War -

Now, write the key word phrase for the card:

7 of Hearts -

8 of Hearts -

Queen of Spades -

King of Diamonds -

Queen of Hearts -

Queen of Diamonds -

2 of Spades -

4 of Spades -

7 of Diamonds -

5 of Clubs -

3 of Hearts -

8 of Spades -

After you complete this exercise, take out your playing card deck and practice turning over cards and saying OUT LOUD the key word phrase for each card. Don't worry about thinking of 'real world' interpretations for each just yet, though it's okay if you do. 🙂 (For example, 'exchange of work' could mean a work partner, someone helping you out, repetitive cycle...depends on the context, though, which now you don't have. So just 'exchange of work' until it's automatic will stand you in good stead. 🙂
