GreatDane Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 When reading tarot, and trying various spreads, I find one question, one card works for me. I may draw up to five cards, but do one question for each. Example: What should I know this month? I pull a card and set it down, reshuffle and ask What Further Clarification or What Area of my Life will this impact? I can do this for up to five questions, but usually three does it to hone in on what I am seeking, sometimes just two. Just wondering if I am the only one who ever does or if others do. I know we all work differently and get our info the way that best works for us. I am been using this for about 8 years now and it just works for me (gotten some REALLY interesting readings doing this).
xTheHermitx Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 I tend to do quick reads more often than not. On most mornings, I will draw one card for the day, and see what that card hs to say about the day. I do the same thing with my runes as well
aries_dreaming Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 I do the same thing. I pull one card for guidance on the day and that's it. Sometimes when doing readings I will do a quick 3-card reading using one question. I have in the past used the one question/one card reading as well, usually as a quick reading. Of course, then I need to resist the urge to pull clarifiers if the answer confuses me. 😉
Wanderer Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 I use this sort of approach as well, sometimes, especially if I'm not sure where the question is going to go. For example, if there are too many possible influences and implications, I'll draw one or two cards first, and then build up an ad-hoc spread with more questions that follow from the first message. This is very distinct from drawing 'clarifiers', though (which most of us agree are a bad idea), as I'm not asking for clarification of the meaning of a previous card; I'm asking a different, specific question. Unlike for clarifiers, I tend to find that the cards treat such requests helpfully.
GreatDane Posted February 3, 2021 Author Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) Well Wanderer, I don't know what others think of as "clarifiers"...what I do works for me. It's like a running conversation. And I tend to read tarot only for myself and just a few others. I read Lenormand for most people I read for. Like with tarot, I have found what works for me and do a three card spread for Lenormand. When I read for myself with tarot (I never read Lenormand for myself) I ask a question, pull one card, which may lead me to ANOTHER question, not necessarily clarifying the first, but could bring to mind something else, I then put the first card back into the deck, shuffle, cut and ask what the new question is. After trying other methods, spreads, this is what has worked for me for a long time, but again, it's very personal as I tend to read tarot JUST for me. A few times for some close friends and with them I use a spread. Edited February 4, 2021 by GreatDane
BlueMoth Posted March 27, 2022 Posted March 27, 2022 I only do one-card reading for finality - like to see the overarching theme or flow of a relationship, a final advice on how to proceed, or in general a 'yes or no' answer to a question (should I continue with this relationship or should I cut it off etc.). It benefits me when I feel confused having to read mixed signals from different cards.
Pilea Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 I think one card readings are great to have clear answer for Simple questions.
start444rot Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 I'm a big fan of the daily pull. Just one card that encompasses the overall energy. I also like asking yes/no questions with just one card. The three card method is great for understanding what's going on in a connection: one card for me, one card for them and one card for the overall progression of the situation!
Akara Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 I personally like doing 3-card spreads. I've been using a daily/weekly/yearly journal and do 3 card spreads every day.
