The ViceVersa is going on my list to use later.  I found it fascinating.

  I'll be using the Asherah Tarot this week though, even though I'm tempted to keep going with the VV.

Hi VG! Thank you for the thread.

Please sign me up with the Wildwood Tarot and the Emerald Forest Lenormand.

I'm expecting delivery of "Wild Magic: The Wildwood Tarot Workbook" tomorrow, and I'm very excited to get started on it! This edition is Flexibound -- I hope that means it will lie flat.

When I went to retrieve my Wildwood deck yesterday, I was very surprised to see that had I trimmed it to the bone, wrote the major arcana titles in gold and stained the edges green before I put it away last time. Saves me a lot of time now. Lol.  ;D

I'm always happy to bring out my Emerald Forest Lenormand (by Tarot Lyn, 2013). It's not only green and lush, it's bridge-size -- my favorite format.  :-*

I clicked away a few duds on the randomlist but then fell upon the Santa Fe and that deck always intrigued me.

Also sorry for being so quiet but i feel like i live in a hole lately. Depression sucks.

I will be very interested in your assessment of the Santa Fe Tarot. I've had it for many years and haven't done anything with it yet. Having said that, I know I will keep it, because I love the images.

I think it's finally time to bust out the Wooden Tarot again. I'm not usually one for specific-season decks but it doesn't feel right to use the Wooden Tarot until summer is good and gone. I'll be using its sister oracle too.

I've been feeling this way too lately, you're not alone. Hope it gets better for you soon. <3

Jaus deck is new to me. Given how work's gone lately, I'll be lucky to spend any significant amount of time with either deck.

Thanks, VG! Will look forward to seeing whether you enjoy your week with the Asherah.

(((Jema))) Yes it does; I hope you find a ladder out of that hole soon.

This week I'll be using the Urban Tarot, a deck and book set created and self-published by Robin Scott. I'll be pairing it with an oracle I created (with the help of Alaska Laser Maid on Etsy) called "Principles to Live By." Today's draws are Art (Temperance in RWS language) and Persistence:

temperance.jpgpersistence.jpg

          An archetypal angel meets an urban angel, one mixing water and the other mixing paint. The Thoth Tarot calls this card Art because it was a representation of creative alchemy - mixing two different elements to form a third. This new element was a symbol of harmony derived from two sides that originally opposed each other (in the Thoth deck, fire and water). It often implies taking the middle way between extremes and finding a compromise that combines a little of both sides. Of course real life never flows and blends together quite as easily as paint, which is probably why the tile Persistence has popped up. This principle means not being easily distracted or discouraged from the objective (easy to do when you are the mediator between two opposing sides). In the words of Jim Watkins, "A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence." His mention of a river reminds me of the Taoist concept wu wei, meaning natural action, or action that does not involve struggle or excessive effort. I don't need to over-react or over-plan; I just need to be present. Time and persistence can wear down most anything.

Bodhiseed, I was on the fence about the Urban Tarot for a good while and when I finally made up my mind it had sold out!  :( Its going to be published by US Games soon at least. Looking forward to your readings with it this week!

I had no idea, but I'm happy for Robin! I do hope they make it a set, because her companion book is excellent!

The announcement said that it would come with a "version of the guidebook", I really hope it comes with at least unabridged card meanings. Wonder what kind of box it'll end up in... I admit I don't know much about US Games releases, the ones I own came in those tuck boxes that disintegrate after a month.

And I'm in! I thoroughly enjoyed working with the Gilded Tarot and have found it to be an excellent reading as well as very beautiful. However, I've gotten the urge to move on this week. So, I'm going to be working with a deck which, again, I've had for several years but rarely used. So, I pulled out The Sacred Circle Tarot. And, again, still occasionally using the A'HA Oracle.

I can already tell it's a favorite.  I don't know what it is about it that I like so much, maybe the coloring, or the art...IDK, but I have a real connection with it.

The Urban is one of my favorites too Bodhiseed, and I'm glad to hear US Games picked it up.

I had saved my post about the New Deck Reading I did when I got my Sacred Circles Tarot. Here is that original reading;

New Deck Reading - The Sacred Circle Tarot

So ... once again I find myself doing a "New Deck" reading several months after getting the new deck! (Well, at least it wasn't several years like it was with the Fantastic Menagerie Tarot. ::))

The cards are dealt in a vertical line with positional meanings of; 1) What will you teach me? 2) What do you need from me? 3) What will our "relationship" be like?

Here are my notes from the reading;

1) Queen of Wands - rx: Taking me into "dark" recesses - the areas of the mind most of us don't want to look. Revealing the jealousies, the hurts, the fears ...

2) 9 Cups: Keyword "stability" - emotional stability and be able to look into the dark areas while staying calm and stable in order to best help the client (or myself).

3) 5 Discs: Keyword "restriction": Probably not a deck for frivolous readings, not a deck, say for parties. This is a deck for introspection.

Overall, this seems like a deck that is going to lead one through the underground tunnels where we're usually afraid to go. I suspect that, while it might be appropriate to interpret a given reading in a positive light ... a lot of readings will be the kind where old feelings we've had long buried are brought to the light of day so we can examine them and heal them. Will probably be a pretty intense deck for readings.

As a side note of sorts, I did get this reply to my original post;

willowfox

5 pents suggests that this deck will eventually end up at the back of a draw, once the novelty of it wears out, as the Queen wands Rx suggests that it will teach you that there is something inherently wrong with it.

In a way, Willowfox wasn't too far off. I don't believe that there is anything "inherently wrong with" the deck, but it certainly did end up sitting around quite a while waiting for me to get back to it.

In any case, I love the imagery and the pagan / Nature focus of the deck and look forward to reading with it again. I think I'll start with a "renewing our connection" type of reading to start with. Assuming it will have me back. ;)

Yeah, the coloring and art are unlike anything else I have. Great that you've connected with it! I've bumped it up into my top 3 with Tabula Mundi and Roots of Asia.

Just a tip if you got a smart phone to try out decks like Urban tarot on the app from the Fools do.

my week with Santa Fe is so stern and frankly a bit dull, Only pulled minors and only number 4 or 5's so far.

I am already thinkin of what fun and cheerful deck i can use for next week.

Busy week, so I didn't get to spend much time with my decks and in the forums too. :( Next week ought to be slower.

I've got a few apps on Fools Dog and since I installed it in my phablet, the enlarged images of certain decks are gorgeous. I've got the Shadowscapes app and it's true - it deserves a giant deck treatment.

I ended up getting my copy of the Animal Spirit Oracle way sooner than I expected and well... My chosen decks have sort of fallen to the wayside.  :-[

To be fair, I don’t think the Wooden Tarot is a very good daily draw deck. It feels like the kind of deck that gets pulled out for deep readings, which I haven’t really been doing this week. I’ll try to do a few before the week is over.
