AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/900943650/the-nameless-one-a-tarot-and-oracle-deck Just opened 6 PM last night, fully funded +, amazing. tarot/oracle and Not cohesive enough for my taste, but I love her Children of Litha and hope she continues on with other sabbats.
reall Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 Exactly what I noticed this morning!:D imo this deck Would Benefit by *Standard Tarot titles but seeing it's already funded what do i know?;) lol also there are some interesting upgrades/goals I'll keep my eyes on!;D
FindYourSovereignty Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 I chose not to get this deck. It feels too big for me and I am not resonating although I tried to and wonder what I am missing by not wanting it. That said, I think the popularity of her first deck really supported the funding of this one. I would love to hear from anyone that supported it or anyone that can share what I am missing about why it is so popular.
katrinka Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 (edited) She's raised over $91,000 now. The goal was $20,000. The deck doesn't appeal to me either. It's pretty generic looking. It does have a gimmick - she says you can use it as a Tarot, oracle, or affirmation deck, and do spells with the sigils, but there's other gimmicky decks that didn't raise anything approaching that kind of money. The answer is in her bio: Her family could afford to send her to those schools, then she worked for Marvel and for Henson Studios. She's got money and connections out the wazoo. So don't anybody feel bad if your work doesn't make goal, or barely makes goal. Your stuff is at least as good as hers. She's just rolling loaded dice. Edited December 24, 2019 by katrinka
FindYourSovereignty Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 @katrinka Wow! Thank you fir sharing all if these details - makes so much sense why she has done so well. I believe she also extended the ordering deadline to get even more orders as I was watching this from the get-go and think it was her deck that changed the deadline. As much as I am questioning what it is people are all excited about and am I missing out on something, I simply cannot find any reason to back this project. I agree with you about decks that don’t reach their funding - amazing talent out there. I hope they keep trying to have their decks produced.
reall Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 @katrinka tnx 4 explaining!:D & @FindYourSovereignty for asking!;D like *loaded dice *fanbase argument it solved Mystery for me!;D lol
Decan Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 This deck doesn't resonate with me... Nevertheless, I looked closely at the cards because this Kickstarter is a Big success, but for me... no It has a style, something "Penny Dreadful" inspired, maybe, but otherwise the cards give me the impression that they are more or less almost all the same, I can't really say this one has this vibe while this other one this atmosphere, all look similar or not distinct enough. But $91,000 it's nice!!

I have been looking at the decks that really do well on there - which isn't always easy to do because it is based on their initial funding amount, however, there are a few that really stand out and the ones that just seem to go like crazy are the ones with big followers or they've produced a deck previously. I am rooting for the little guys, too! I love the indie decks.
Mi-Shell Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Could it be, that in certain circles Siglis and their use in spells and magic - beneficial as well as dark - are very big right now? ??are the siglis she uses her own art or where are they from?? ?? https://www.pinterest.ca/gayatrimanishga/siglis/ there are countless sigli pages......

I do believe that is part of the response, yes. Also, I think these are her own sigils as it states in the guidebook there will be support in learning how to make your own, but I don't know for certain.

When I get into any other subject in depth (anything from perfume to dogs, you name it), I eventually run into science. But with card reading and spellwork, we don't have that. So I obviously can't cite any peer reviewed research or any of that. I can't, therefore, defend my position. But I'm going to put it out here anyway. The impression I get after all these long years is that things like this work best when they have some history of people using them. Veves, bindrunes, seals from the Lesser Key of Solomon, the Divine Pymander, etc. Alternately, some people believe in DIY with personal symbols, and I'm not in a position to refute that. But copying idiosyncratic doodles done by some rich lady for a vanity project doesn't look effective to me. At all.

I was thinking similarly - it felt more correct for me to either create my own or at least use ones that have been in place for the ages.
Mi-Shell Posted December 25, 2019 Posted December 25, 2019 I was reminded of the Lesser Key of Solomon, when I first saw them, but I have not checked up on that. I have seen Veves in use, have some on my conga drums - for a particular reason. I also agree with katrinka, that self invented symbols only have power for the inventor.
reall Posted December 25, 2019 Posted December 25, 2019 im with @katrinka here!;D it's DIY or *traditional!;) imo *younger hipster audience(aka-30?) may find these *fancy fairy stylized symbols interesting?;) I've first hear about it few years back when friend asked for this deck; http://www.grid.si/marjetka_jersek/vilinske_karte.html she was superhappy with it but it simply seem meh for me, even i do like elaborate text & design BUT IT'S NOT TAROT?x,x facepalm lol then i've googled *fairy sigil & got plenty similar amazing designs!;D but i'm more *old school/ aka if i'm to play with sigil/summoning/ whatever I prefer to do some research & history background first BEFORE jumping into pool!;D so when *sigil become popular last year tnx to this amazing ks; https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/travismchenry/the-angel-evoking-tarot/posts i've read all accompanying material & even thinking about making my own *sigil deck (aka 20$ Bridge size edt with sigil Travis say to give to public domain OR make more tarotish design on my own?;) lol also Key of Solomon was hard to wrap my head around lucky got this wonderful compilation book bwen offered as free download recently; https://benebellwen.com/2019/11/07/the-keys-of-solomonic-magic-and-spirit-conjures/ she even started course so it must be trend!;D imo it's Basic but doubt ks backers read it?;D but imo artist Did her reserch as her design combine *classic/basic 2 circles/ring & modern stylized fancy fairy looking sigils(instead of medival one?;D oh! & just remembered to add court cards design reminds me of Dreams of Gaia Tarot by Ravynne Phelan https://youtu.be/62XoxXTLEzY?t=107
Decan Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 (edited) Did you see where they are with this Kickstarter? Today they have $126,000 (yesterday it was $118,000), therefore in about 1 week they raised about $25,000!! I don't know about the power of her Sigils, but well 😲 Still not a fan though. But copying idiosyncratic doodles done by some rich lady for a vanity project doesn't look effective to me. At all. I agree. I believe that a symbol (or an archetype or even a deity) gets “fed” by the amount of times it is being used/worshipped and by the amount of people that are using it. In a way they are mental constructs and the more a particular construct has penetrated the Great Mind (the collective unconscious), the stronger it gets. I however also believe that it would be possible to channel/receive such powerful symbols (or chants, spells etc) if a person is connected enough. Do I think that these particular cards hold channeled powerful and universal sigils? No. I think they are personal constructs. But I’m sure they will be fed by all this interest. My main issue, though, is that I would be wary of casually using or feeding sigils that I really don’t understand or truly connect with. I’m not saying that they are dangerous (and I’m also not saying they aren’t 😊), it’s just not relevant for me and I see no point in utilizing them.
