Trogon Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 I was just reminded of an appearance of a Tarot deck in series 2, episode 2 (2013) of Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries; "Death Comes Knocking". The deck is shown a couple of times, but the best look at it comes towards the end of the show; At 58:48 in the above linked video is where Jack Robinson gets a reading from Mrs. Bolkonsky. It is an interesting looking deck and I'm wondering if anybody recognizes it?
Page of Ghosts Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 It looks like an old deck. I can see a Chariot and Wheel card. My first thought was the Ancient Italian Tarot but the Chariot card in that one looks too different. Might be a historical deck still! There are 2 white horses while RWS has one black and one white sphinx.
Page of Ghosts Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Oh, I think THIS is the Chariot! Tarot del la Rocca? I think it might be the Soprafino, Lo Scarabeo has it as Classic Tarot. It matches the colours on my blurry screen grab very well! http://vampiretarot.com/tarot/della_rocca/large/the_chariot.jpg

I think you're right about that Chariot card being from the Della Rocca. I was unable to find a decent picture of the backs of that deck though. The one in the Miss Fisher episode seems to have an actual image (rather than say a simple pattern like the RWS gingham back, e.g.). But yeah, I think you may have hit on it.
Page of Ghosts Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Yeah I think it's the same deck. They've covered up the keywords on the side if they used the LS version of the deck - you can see the left side is much wider yet blank in the episode. The backs look intesting so I wonder it they're the same across versions or if they got those changed too.
EmpyreanKnight Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 The back of the cards match Lo Scarabeo's Classic Tarot, which is their rendition of the Tarot Carlo della Rocca. This is the deck on the LS Site: http://shop.loscarabeo.com/index.php?id_product=15&controller=product&id_lang=1 When you scroll on the images, the very last one shows this: Attached is a screenshot from the vid that matches the back:
EmpyreanKnight Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Btw, you have a good eye, Page of Ghosts. :)
Trogon Posted October 15, 2017 Author Posted October 15, 2017 Excellent detective work Page of Ghosts and EmpyreanKnight! Thanks very much! I think this one will be going on my wish-list as my second historic-style deck.
