Magical Dogs Tarot, I'm quite pleased with it, not cheesy, was a bit worried about that, as many animal decks are anthropomorphized which makes me shudder. It was published by Llewellyn so is available everywhere, but I ordered it from the Mueller's Etsy shop, book signed, got to pick my own tin, with the Moon card of course. 🙂 Life is good. https://www.etsy.com/market/magical_dogs_tarot That is the only deck I have purchased so far this year and I totally agree that it is not cheesy which is why I decided to go for it. I have not used it yet, but I do plan to. I am super pleased with my purchase as well. I got mine on Amazon so no tin for me, but do like the side clasp sturdy box the set came in, I am grateful to Llewellyn for improving their packaging.
Rupicapra Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I've been getting into the Fortune's Wheelhouse Podcast and m enjoying it and learning lots. And I've been drooling at the Tabula Mundi deck, but it was always a bit too steep. However: I've recently started studying with the Open Uni, it's just an access course at the moment, but still, and I'm really struggling with this essay writing thing, PEE and stuff, is so new to me (only ever had to apply all kindsa crazy calculations and learn chemical formulas and processes by heart, so an essay with arguments and points and evidence and explanation and all is totally different and difficult for me) and I am really struggling - bear with me and this story, I promise this leads to something! So for the last assignment I set myself rewards, small things I would get myself depending on how many percent I'd achieve. The day before I got my last result, I just out of curiosity checked the price of the deck including delivery again, and yeah, it was still steep. then the next day I did get my result, and the % I got was way better than I thought I'd get, and it was exactly the same price as deck with book and delivery! So of course, I took that a sign that it is meant to be my reward! I am very generous with myself, too generous according to my bank account, but I'm restricting myself already a lot. Now I'm working ahead on my studies as much as I can so that once it arrives I got time to get to know it.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Rupicapra, good stewardship of finances is a worthwhile degree to work toward too 🙂 It will change your life in many ways, all for the better and part of that stewardship is the small rewards that come too. Good luck with Both projects and happy new deck! Well done on your test.

Because now I have been refunded I am annoyed (If it had been out of stock in the FIRST place I'd have been OK about it; it's the so near and yet so far thing.). Intent by itself is just a thought. Often fleeting. NOT fleeting. And bless the publisher; she emailed the poet herself, who has three copies left and is sending me one on Wednesday. So it IS my first purchase again ! Edited January 27, 2020 by gregory

gregory Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 That actually used to be true. No longer - not since the rise of gamecrafter and etsy and other self-publishing enterprises. Sad but just as well, considering the quality of some of those ! My finest moment EVER in the way of amazing collecting was after I'd been to a tarot art exhibition. https://www.exeterphoenix.org.uk/events/outrageous-fortune-artists-remake-the-tarot/ I wrote to the curator to ask how one could get a copy of the deck. He said they were only being given to the artists and organisers and their special friends. I thanked him and thought no more about it.. Next thing I knew he informed me that he had decided I deserved one - and GAVE it to me. (The poet is also sending me an invoice. On this occasion - nothing; the guy just GAVE it to me.)
katrinka Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 (edited) SCORE. Kaczynski as the Hermit is food for thought. And that 4 of Cups reminds me of a bar joke. That one uses three american pennies, though, and it's kind of filthy, so I'll refrain from posting it. Cool deck! I know you're not selling any, but I'm curious - what's the most outrageous offer you've gotten for a deck? Edited January 29, 2020 by katrinka

Congrats on your results.
Wheel of Fantastic Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 First deck purchase this year was the miniature Albano Waite from eBay. I've never seen an actual copy of this deck before and I clicked onto the auction with 2 minutes to go. Talk about an impulse buy! Love this little deck! It was published by US Games in 1987 according to the copyright and it has the same colours as vintage 60s printings.
DanielJUK Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 My first deck purchase this year after some pre-orders from last year, the first actual buy this year is the Numinous Tarot. I really wanted to increase my LGBT themed decks and been wanting it for a while and found it on a UK mail order site so looking forwards to it's arrival
gregory Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 OK - here are images of my lovely new deck - very different. There are two of each card - one with the image and one with a modified version of the image + a poem: Isn't it LOVELY ? a
katrinka Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 OMG that's AMAZING. What's it called? Who's the artist?
Rupicapra Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 2 hours ago, gregory said: here are images of my lovely new deck Is it the one you got from the artist from the exhibition? Very interesting. Is the frame around the Hermit an eyesocket of a skull? Looks like it. I love it 🙂
gregory Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 No not the one from the exhibition - the one I linked last week, where I was refunded and then the publisher kindly tracked down the poet, who had three left. Fool's World. This one. http://www.helenivory.co.uk/fools-world-tarot-publication/ Helen Ivory is the poet and Tom De Freston is the artist. When I thanked Helen, I did suggest it needed a reprint.... Maybe if you all email the publisher.... And yes to the eye socket. It was sheer chance that I heard about it - my beloved does the publicity for a poetry group where Helen will be reading next month ("releasing" some new WITCHY poems, she told me !) and came across it while looking for biographical info. Came downstairs all excited - did I have this - partly I think he would have used something about it in the publicity if he'd had it in front of him. Well, no, but I knew I had to.... And as a poet he is also wildly excited by it.. And they both GET tarot; you can see they do. (and @katrinka , note the last sentence on Tom's info card That isn't even where I got the idea.) Here's the info cards that came with it.
gregory Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Here are two cards from the exhibition one (Outrageous Fortune) since you ask: Death and Queen Cups.
