I know it's not the most "authentic", but to me it has the warmest feel. It's a very authentic deck. Apart from one detail, perhaps two, that I didn't think necessary, I've never found fault with it. He respected the TdM tradition with great honour. He didn't make any astounding and embarrassing additions like eggs as in the Camoin deck. The Hadar will never be included in the canon, but I really think that it's a deck one can rely on fully. It's an important part of the apocrypha of the TdM. You know, important documents but outside the canon. The Camoin for example, is more of a pseudo-apocrypha. Not very useful.
Guest Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Pseudo-apocrypha. Ha! I like that. I sense the honour that Hadar does the tradition. I raise my eyebrows at the date on the 2 de Deniers, but aside from that I appreciate the deck for what it is. And to me it is a respectful adaptation.

L'Amour Courtois for him is clearly apparent in the Tarot. The Tarot is sort of a Roman de la Rose. The Bateleur, or the juggler in Occitanian culture was the spokesman of the troubadour. Kris Hadar recommended a book once to me called "Nouvelles occitanes du Moyen Age" so I'd understand better what he was talking about. But I forgot. I'll order it once life returns to some normality. I don't want to burden the postal service or warehouse workers in these complicated times.
Guest Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 I do remember that, Marigold; I believe you once posted a translation of his explanation ...
