What deck are you reaching for right now?

Recommended Posts

I looked through this forum to see if I could find a topic like this but didn't see one. I just thought it might be fun to share what decks we're reaching for lately. What do you keep returning to and why? What deck is drawing your attention right now? Do you think there's a reason?

I've been drawn to the This Might Hurt tarot pretty steadily since I received it (last fall) and that's still true now. But I could see how recent events might cause people to reach for something new or familiar or just change things up! So I'm curious. 🙂

(I'm new so please let me know if this isn't the right spot for this.)

I’m finding I’m in a bit of a weird place for tarot at the moment. Parts of my life are in complete limbo so there is not much to read on as such.

However, I’m taking some time to use my historical and TdM decks and try new techniques with those. I keep pulling out my Mamanmiyuki and Noblet.
I’m also spending time with my Thothy decks - the Thoth itself and the Tabula Mundi.

"Right now" I've been reaching for the Tarot of the Crone because it is my newest acquisition (I won it here on TT&M)! 💞

Oh, color me curious!  How?  Do we have contests with prizes here?

There's an area for subscribers only here where you can enter a competition or two and also sell/trade decks.

@kate I think this is a great idea for a thread! Currently my go-to deck is my TrueBlack Tarot, I just can't get enough of that imagery 😄

I'm stuck at home, I'm often reaching for decks that I have that don't get much love.  I always return to my Pagan Cats deck though, since it's comfortable.

I've been a bit under the weather this past week, so nothing that requires a great deal of effort on my part. I've mostly been using a reproduction of a old 19th century Lenormand. I know it well, and the tin happens to be within easy reach.

I hope your question wasn't about your stimulus check!  That fox looks ravenous...

and I hope you're feeling better soon.

LOL, no. Just a random snap that I found on my hard drive.

I'm MUCH better than I was. Just waiting to have energy again!

Usually play with RWS Centennial pocket sized, I know it well, it's one of my first decks, so it will probably always be my tarot 'comfort food'.

But I just got the Hermetic Deck in the mail, so I'll probably be spending quite a bit of time getting my head around that one.

I will reach for anything at the start of things. I love to use different decks.

But YES - Pagan Cats or Sweet Twilight. ALWAYS. Not just comfortable -reliable and honest.

Pagan Cats was my first deck and I'm back to working with that one, too - it's just such a great reader for me. It always delivers.

That was my first deck when I got back into tarot 2 years ago! I still really enjoy it, we have a good working relationship. haha (it's also great for travel)

It is!!! I often throw it in my handbag so I have it on me when I see my friends. I especially love the tin packaging, I wish they all came in tin. Stands up to a little abuse, which is great protection for a deck that sees a lot of action. The Hermetic is in a flimsy cardboard box that probably will probably never leave my house. I love it, but I'm a big fan of that tin.

I have been using the Wildwood Deck for daily one-card pulls now for a few months; the imagery pulls me in and makes perfect sense to me. As others have said before, the Wildwood does not mince words and in fact, can be quite hard-hitting; my Saturn in Sagittarius appreciates that.

Thoth and Tabula Mundi are always on my desk, and I'm surprised how well the Ostara Tarot reads, one of my newer decks. I only wish i had more interesting questions - right now, my life is even quieter than usual.

The Ostara is a likely candidate for a new favourite.

for some of the reasons mentioned above : feeling sort of stressed, and detached, I have been leaning on the good old RWS because it comes out so smooth.

Right before the Blurg (as we are calling it on the mountain biking forum I am on) hit, I was all over my new Lasenikov deck, as well as a new Tarot of Ceremonial Magic. But now, I am less in "learning" mode, and more in "comfort" mode.

Looking through my small horde of tarot yesterday  l found an old favourite,  Lo Scarabeo Secret Tarot.  l have lovely memories of reading with this deck, now l will start to use this again. l especially like the images.

This IS my current "love" deck.

The "Dreams of Gaia" by Ravynne Phelan

I came across this deck by happenstance while on YouTube and was immediately smitten.

The deck has a spiritual connection to Gaia and its elemental influences. It has a strong healing energy

of which I find very comforting. Interestingly, the deck arrived the week that the lockdown began in California.

It has been a comforting deck that I'm working with and am creating a YouTube video showcasing both arcana.

It has its own system and doesn't follow the traditional tarot systems like the RWS, so it is learning a new perspective of which

I'm open to as long it connects with me.

Below is the pocket edition which is a pint sized deck, all matte and with a warm burgundy backing and packaging.

This is hands down one of the most beautiful decks that I have and I'm grateful to having this in my tarot family.

I love it so much I went ahead and invested in its sibling standard edition deck, where the cards are larger and comes with

a 300 pg. guidebook which is chock full of information about each card.

Here is the link to Ravynne's website for more info about her (she's based in Australia).

Both decks are available on Amazon

Greenwood as always. Also want to play with the Zillich - but only after trimming it and turning it into an oracle so a new corner punch is on its way to me now.
