Rori Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 I'm on a no buy/low buy year but I still like to check Kickstarter every once in a while (because FOMO and also because I like to make things difficult for myself ) and I came across this deck. I searched the forum but I don't think it's been mentioned around here yet, so I wanted to ask what you guys think? Personally I think it looks really nice, even though I'm not usually a fan of fairy decks and don't own a single one. I love heavy gold foiling, it's one of the things that drew me into the Ethereal visions. But I'm not a huge fan of the pregnant Empress... I just think it's too one sided an interpretation for that card.
Niobium Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 I looked at this one and I agree on pregnant Empress; I'm not a huge fan of that symbolism. But I like the crisp aesthetic and the foiling, and I'll admit, it's a unique look you don't often see outside of the pins people make. My main concern is the Kickstarter itself sounds...not really ready for prime time. I don't want to bore anyone with my thoughts on that, except to say, I'd categorize this one as a high risk to not reach backers for a good year and change. So unless people are comfortable with a wait of that magnitude, they should think carefully about backing it. A lot of creators wind up getting massive flak from backers who expected something in their hands in a couple of months, or angry with even a modest delay.
Rori Posted May 5, 2020 Author Posted May 5, 2020 You're right, I got that impression too - and I have to admit, I am one of those people who gets a little antsy when Kickstarters take too long to complete. That is, unless there are frequent updates so I know it's still moving along, even if it's going slow. It's not looking like this one will be funded, I think, which is a shame because it does look good (that Empress card aside). Maybe the creator will try again at a later date, when most of the cards are complete?
