And what are the extra cards? The ones I thought of are: Prisma Visions - 1st edition, Strawberries - 2nd edition, The Gift - 3rd edition, Illumination Animism Tarot - Happy Squirrel Emerging Toronto Artists Tarot (forthcoming, collaborative deck) - The Creator - The Thriving Artist Tarot of Trees -Regeneration So, what other decks do you know of? ETA Tarot of Trees...I knew there was another deck I owned that had an extra card, but took me a while to think of it!
EmpyreanKnight Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Off the top of my head: The Pagan Otherworlds and The Eros Tarot both have an extra major named The Seeker and five additional Luna Cards depicting the various phases of the moon. Do all Uusi Tarot decks have these? The Osho Zen Tarot also has an extra card, named The Master. The Sherlock Holmes Tarot has a Happy Squirrel of sorts - the Giant Rat of Sumatra Lastly, Tarot D: The Didactic Tarot has five different Magician cards, and two extra cards for each suit, positioned before the Ace and between the Tens and the Courts. This magnificent deck also has an extra suit.
Lantana Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Lets see... The Fountain Tarot has an extra major, the Fountain. The Wooden Tarot has a Happy Squirrel card. The Numinous Tarot has an extra card titled the Numinous. The Delta Enduring has four extra majors (The Termite Swarm, Mardi Gras, The Hurricane, The Heat.) The OOP Idiosyncradeck has a Magic card. The Silicon Dawn has a whopping 21 extra cards. And a special collectors edition of the Shadowscapes came with a lovely happy squirrel card as well. Indie decks sure love their extra cards!

One is used for divination, and the other is for rituals. And there is also the oldest extended Tarot deck that I know of: the Minchiate with an extra 19 majors that includes the 12 signs of the zodiac, the 4 elements, and the other theological virtues. And now I'm hankering for Brian Williams's Minchiate Tarot Set. I heard that its companion book is miles above its peers in scholarship, presentation, and readability.

The Delta Enduring has four extra majors (The Termite Swarm, Mardi Gras, The Hurricane, The Heat.) ...Wow, thank you for posting about the Delta Enduring Tarot....I had not heard of it before....I'm from the Mississippi Delta...I was born in Greenville, grew-up in Yazoo City, went to what was then Mississippi Delta Junior College on Moorhead...all my family is still in the delta, Isola, Indianola, Rolling Fork and of course Yazoo City....really looking forward to adding this deck to my collection....thanks again posting about the deck....
Trogon Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 The only deck that I have that has such an extra card is the Touchstone Tarot by Kat Black. It has an included Happy Squirrel card. I pulled the Touchstone out to use as my deck of the week and found The Happy Squirrel in the bottom of the box. Ms. Black had said in the book that she hadn't intended for people to use the card in readings, but kept hearing that people were using it. I decided to put it back in the deck. ;D I do like her meanings for the card; Lighten up. Do not take yourself, or anything too seriously. There are no simple answers, life is very complicated and the most important thing is to take joy in the journey." - Reversed; "Hey, it's bad enough I gave you upright meanings. You do realize this isn't a real Tarot card?" She also explains the origin of the card ("The Simpsons" - "Lisa's Wedding" episode, just in case you weren't aware). It hasn't come up in a reading yet ...

"When you don't know which way to go, focus on working on your art, because this will show you the way. Don't be afraid to fail, and don't judge your work so brutally tht you're afraid to show it to people. Don't get hug up on a successful creation out of fear that you cannot repeat the achievement. What you have created is perfect for its time, but you need to move on to explore what lies ahead - and keep doing your art no matter what."

Didn't realize there was a list like this at AT! I think we're going to end up supplanting this one as the definitive list though ;D I see we already have quite a few that aren't included on AT's list!

I wonder if it is still a thing, or if the fashion has passed ? The Simpson episode with the Happy Squirel is part of the earlier seasons isn't it ? does anybody know the date of this episode ?
EmpyreanKnight Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 That's a nice find Carojulie, tho even when combined our combined lists are still inexhaustive. Anyway, the Happy Squirrel episode in The Simpsons was from Season 6 Episode 19, entitled Lisa's Wedding. It was aired on March 19, 1995.
