The cards have gilded edges. They come in a solid box with a lift-off lid, accompanied by a booklet the size of the cards. The cardstock is quite stiff, matte, and the print quality is good. The cards are borderless, and the card titles are added at the bottom in colour-coded pastels. Each card has four keywords, astrological and elemental information. There are five additional cards depicting the elements in a horizontal format. The card backings are reversible with an unobtrusive floral print, reminding me of Victorian textiles or wallpapers.

The suits have been renamed:

Wands are Trees

Cups are Water

Swords are Clouds

Pentacles are Stone

The court cards bear different titles as well, inspired by nature. From the Kickstarter Page:

Quote

The titles of the Majestic Earth court cards honor the “court of nature” (rather than a regent’s court). These cards use common, modern characteristics of the court cards, and relate them to the suit's element: The Steward (Page) learns from the element of the suit, the Rider (Knight) is driven to action by it, the Creature (Queen) is the living embodiment of the suit, and Spirit (King) is the element's influence in the world.

The Majestic Earth Tarot is presented on Amazon with the following information:

Quote

Majestic Earth Tarot draws on the power and beauty of nature. Illustrated with landscape paintings from the late 18th to early 20th centuries, this complete deck of 78 tarot cards also includes 5 unique, additional cards and a 120-page booklet. Majestic Earth Tarot features art from the Hudson River School, Luminism, Romanticism, Realism, and the American West.

The paintings chosen are by some of the greatest landscape artists of all time, including Caspar David Friedrich, Asher Brown Durand, Ivan Shishkin and many others. If human figures appear at all, they are not the focus of the card. The focus is on the landscape and its atmosphere.

If you know the RWS core meanings of the cards, you can read with this deck, and you will enjoy finding the atmosphere of the card expressed in this deck. It's a contemplative, meditative deck that is ideally suited to deep study of the cards, affirmation work and free association. They're also very good as altar cards.

For me, it works best in smaller spreads; I wouldn't do a Celtic Cross with this deck, but you may experience it differently. Each card is so powerful that I prefer to work with a smaller spread, exploring each card deeply. I find this a very immersive deck. For me, there is no weak card in this deck.

I bought a slightly damaged version of the deck, which made it a bit more affordable, and I'm glad I did. The damage is just an irregularity of colouring in some of the backings, and it's hardly noticeable.

The deck's Kickstarter has more pictures.
