Gold Foil Tarot

I got this deck just out of curiosity more than anything a couple years ago.  I didn't expect to like it or use it.  I've never liked the RWS even though I did finally use it when I was learning.  And plastic?  OMG no!

But once I got it, I had an awakening.  Yes, plastic! Yes, gold foil!  I really like this deck!  It comes in a very sturdy little box that has a magnetic closure and will fit in pocket, purse or backpack.  It's heavenly to shuffle once you get used to it.  It's beautifully textured on both sides and on the side that's illustrated, it's really beautifully illustrated in color.  It's kind of holographic with a suggestion of 3D and then with beautiful texture in the background..  The cards are very sturdy and durable. You can let them fall on the floor and walk on them and they'll come up shining and dazzling.  You could do readings in a swimming pool---no problem. Let your toddler play with them---wipe them off and do a professional reading---again, no problem.

If you don't read with reversals, you might want to reconsider that.  You'll save yourself a lot of time reorganizing the cards back to upright positions if you just learn to use reversals..  Remember the old card joke "wanna play 52 card pickup?" and then the jokester would f-l-l-l-b-b-b-r-r-r-p-p-p the whole deck onto the floor and you got to pick up the 52 cards ?  Well, till you learn to shuffle this one, it's 78 card pickup sometimes.

This deck would be great to keep in your pocket or purse if you're going to be reading in a public bar or psychic fair or other public space.  Spills won't phase it.  You can put the whole deck in the shower or bathtub with you if you want to.  In my opinion, I think every Tarot user should get one of these.  It's just $15 and change on Amazon so it's well worth the price.

What deck is this?  Does it have a name?  Most of my card damage comes from my dogs and they like to chew plastic.  This does, though, sound like a great deck to have.  Thanks.

Yes- was about to say @Grizabella - you need to be more specific please. There are a number of "Gold Foil Tarot" permutations out there 🙃. Or put a link to it.

I doubt the deck is dog proof but I don't think they could actually bite the cards into pieces.

I find them pretty but uncomfortable to shuffle, held etc. Hope you're doing well 😊I remember you from Aeclectic

Well, hello there, Lovebird!  You must have used another name on AT because I don't recognize this one.  On the other hand, I'm in my senior moment era, so I may have just forgotten.  LOL

I'm intrigued by this deck and since I'm a Pollyanna by nature, I'm just looking at this as a good reason to start using reversals.   It's really hard to get shuffling done without having to pick the cards up and there are lots of reversals in the picking them up, so I've decided to just pick them up and not worry  any that are reversed.

To add to this, I serendipitously bought the Holistic Tarot by Benebell Wen at around the same time and it has a section on reversed cards, so that plus these slick cards, I'm all set.  I don't agree with Benebell on everything but I've found that she does add lots of information and ideas that are interesting and worth thinking about and trying out.  Maybe I can interest a few other  people in getting the deck and book so we can all get together and have a study and/or discussion group.  I'll make a club for it.

Gosh, my dog just "shuffled" the deck for me. I'm sitting on my bed using my laptop and she stepped near the deck----reversals galore.🤨

Oooh my goodness - well you know how gold foil never translates well in photos.

I have received my 2 Gold Foil decks (mentioned above)... and I am just.... DAZZELLED 😵.

Mwaaaahahhaaaaaaaa!

This reminds me of the 1st version of K Huggins deck...   The Illuminati Tarot.

Soooo shiny and with sooooo much detail (that I loved)  - that I literally got a headache reading with it - and gave it away. Lol.

I prefer the 2nd version - Tarot Apokalispis. That doesn't give me a headache.

So it remains to be seen whether I will get a headache when I try using these 2 gold foil decks.

The one above is the one I got but it was only $14 and change on Amazon.  I've also found one for $12 and change on Amazon.  I haven't ordered the second one yet.

I don't know how to make decent, small links.  Sorry for that big old thing up there.

Yes - I've seen these sold in different places for different prices.

I liked the amount of choice on this site (not as comprehensive in the other places) - plus the 3 set run die 🫠.

I look forward to participating on your Deep Dive Gold Foil plus Benebell club 😃.  Great way to add some structure

to my Taroting and I am no in the mood to get back into it.

I'm glad you posted that link because I'm intrigued by what a selection they have.  I'm going to try the $12+ one on Amazon but I want to check out the ones on your link, too.

I see you've joined the club and I'd be really interested for some input for how we should proceed with it.  What are you most interested in doing or what are you hoping for?  I'm going to try some of the spreads from the book.  There seem to be lots of spreads, many of them I've never tried or even heard of them before.  What shall we start out with?

What I am hoping for, is to get back into the swing or reading, eating, sleeping and breathing Tarot - and interacting with like-minded people on the subject.  Benebell's book is amazingly packed with stuff - YES to imbibing as much of that as possible

with friends along the journey to make it more colourful & enjoyable. (Reading on ones own is sometimes so boring 🙃 - and I always learn better when things are more inter-active).

I have had a year-and-a-half of menopause drama (I'm 51 now) - whereby hormonal fluctuations has meant no sleep for

all this time (hot flushes). So - life became a struggle to stay awake and carry on working to earn money (in that literal sense) - I had no energy to do anything else at all, including even being polite, bothering to make conversation outside of my 'work box' or taking the time to feed myself properly.

It has been quite horrendous.

I have now recovered. My NHS G.P.s finally got the HRT dose right for me (a year) - and I have spent an-arm-&-a-leg at a posh naturopaths, to use a plethora of herbs that assist with my hormonal progression as well as other things.

Picking an interesting spread and diving in - sounds like a good place to start to me 👍
