We don't need any more decks!

Except, of course, if it is a well made cat deck. Or something with dragons. Or... no, really, i don't need any more decks.

My inventory of both tarot and oracle decks has grown immensely. Initially, we stopped buying decks about 10 years ago due to house hunting (less stuff to transport) and general lack of space. After moving, we bought decks worth about $700 from LoScarabeo, then a few from elsewhere and we thought we were done for at least 10 more years.

Then there were the after-corona spoils where you could bulk buy decks from ebay and elsewhere, as people who took up reading dropped it again after isolation was over. Also, books and other hobby stuff but I didn't go over board with those.

So we ended up with lots of new decks (some duplicates), some of which I had never heard about and would probably not have bought otherwise. Some of them are unusable for my housemate, but I haven't yet found anything I could not ever use. It is a challenge to use some of them. And they made me curious what else is out there I have not encountered yet and - wow. I would be interested in some of them but I have made the decision not to get anymore decks unless we need to fill up an Amazon buy.

I am not sure what to think about the masses of decks out there anymore. If we get more decks we will have to be a lot more critical. No more bulk buys for us I think because we are both really bad at passing decks on as long as we might eventually use them for something. The only one we could part with easily is the Deviant Moon, it gives us both the creeps.

My housemate built 3 colorful shelves for the walls in our inside temple room, but they are almost full and the larger decks fill up the space under the Bast+Sekhmet altar. No, we really don't need any more decks. Chances are, we will still get a few more. I'm just being realistic.

Good Gracious, I thought I had a lot of tarot decks.  I can now say I don't have too many decks.  LOL  I have18 different decks mostly because I'm drawn to the art work.  There are a couple I have purchased because I wanted to study their system or explore the author's concept.  When I read for clients I usually read from the deck I created, but have begun to doing a deck of the week sort of thing.  I love tarot - the depth and creativity and opportunity to learn new ways of looking at things.

I sort of started feeling that I don't need more decks anymore, even though I only have three (and only use two, as the third one is Bolognese and I can't learn another system right now). I feel I am not working with the cards enough, and my urges to buy more have subsided; maybe they will return later, when I become a bit better.

Tarot is my one acquisitive vice

LOL! Love that remark! Mine is chocolate. However some fine pipe tobaccos make a somewhat distant second ...

I feel like I have way too many decks, and I do plan to sell some of them in the future. There are some which I'm sure I shall not be working with anymore or at all. I don't like the idea of them languishing in my boxes when someone who can appreciate them more can put them to better use.

I've actually sold 19 decks since last year while only buying 17. That sounds like a nice trade-off, but I'm still above the hundred-deck mark lol. Still have some major paring to do.

I am actually thinking of selling them at a huge discount just so that anyone who really appreciates them would have no problem affording them. The downside to that is that people have a tendency to value less those that they easily acquire, and my decks may end up simply taken for granted in their new homes. I may just sell them for what I believe is a totally fair price.

This coming year I aim to limit my purchases to 12 decks max. I'll make sure that all of them are absolutely personally essential. Then I'll impose maybe a 2-year deck buying moratorium on myself.

I've found that during the Death Cleaning I donated a few decks I didn't use and now I'm down to 59 Tarots. It was actually painless b/c when I see the collection displayed so nicely in my new [old] house ... it helps me to value the decks I use or love as art ... and not want anything else.

I had to do an intentional "no buy" when I got addicted to buying decks ... but now its gotten to a relaxed place. I will buy a deck if it strikes my fancy and I have room for it in the tarot shelves. But mostly I have a sense of "enough". I feel grateful looking at the decks I have.

LOL I wish I could come to that relaxed grateful feeling with all aspects of my material life ...
