Significator - is the Lady her or me
timtoldrum replied to Celine's topic in LenormandHi @Celine I am a bit late and I think everyone has offered great advice. This is just my observation. Firstly, if you have included yourself within the scope of the question, the Lady would ordinarily be read as signifying you. The Bear, however, should not automatically be assumed to represent a particular individual. Its identity depends entirely upon the context of the reading and the surrounding cards. Where it does represent a person, the Bear is characteristically someone who occupies a position of greater authority, seniority, influence or status than the querent. By contrast, the Hound generally signifies someone who is of equal standing or subordinate to the querent. Secondly, the Lord and the Lady are the two principal significators in the deck and will invariably identify the primary parties involved in the matter under consideration. In the majority of readings, one of these cards will therefore represent the querent, as they are usually the central figure in the question being asked. That said, there are exceptions. On occasion, the querent is not the principal subject of the enquiry. For example, if a client asks about her daughter's prospective marriage, the daughter may properly receive the Lady card, as she is the chief person involved in the matter. The allocation of significators should always follow the focus of the question rather than be determined by rigid formula. For this reason, it is generally advisable to decide upon the significators before the cards are dealt. Establishing who the Lord and Lady etc represent at the outset provides clarity and consistency, helping to avoid confusion later in the interpretation. Once the cards are on the table, the reader can then concentrate on analysing the relationships and developments shown within the spread, rather than debating whom the principal person cards ought to signify.

The Snake biting the Fox's tail
timtoldrum replied to Moon-Hermit's topic in Lenormand Card StudiesStella’s an amazing. One of the best Lenormand and Tarot readers going. My second teacher favoured the Red and Blue Owl deck. In that pattern both the Fox and Serpent face right so when you saw Fox - Serpent the snake is biting the Fox’s heels. Fox - Serpent indicates treachery or an untrustworthy woman. The Serpent is the description. The reverse is true with Serpent - Fox because the Fox is descriptive. Andy B.

Mystical Shaman Oracle - Alberto Villoldo and Colette Baron-Reid
Tanga replied to Whisper's topic in OraclesI've just purchased the pocket sized edition. I'll let you know. I originally had a beautifully photographed shamanic oracle deck (OOP) - that I never used, and eventually gave away to a friend who is half Native American. It made more sense to me for her to have it. So...this will kind of be replacing that for me. -

Mi-Shell replied to Whisper's topic in OraclesHi There!♥ Since the oooold url for the old DotW thread, where I posted about this deck seems not to work anymore, I will try to repost it here. Alberto V. is still a open and smelly can of worms; more so today than years ago...... Use the images and leave him by the wayside..... ♥ -

Deck of the Week Sign-up Thread, Week 471: Jul. 13 - Jul. 19
Bodhiseed replied to fire cat pickles's topic in Deck of the WeekI'm in this week with the World Spirit Tarot paired with the Mystic Glyphs Oracle - thank you Fire cat! Life changes in the instant. The ordinary instant. ― Joan Didion Looks like I better hustle my bustle today, as some potential activities or opportunities are about to land on my doorstep. As that eye on one of the wands indicates, today is not a day for lolling about but for paying attention. I'm on my first cup of coffee and have not yet washed the grumpy sleepiness out of my system. It would be easy to complain about all I have to do today without adding extra on my plate. Turkey shows up - a symbol of abundance, community, and gratitude - to remind me that such opportunities are gifts. There's no need to impute the day with assumptions of what a chore it will be when I've barely lived much of it yet. Plus, as Didion points out, things can change quickly, and this particular gift may not arrive again. -

Mystical Shaman Oracle - Alberto Villoldo and Colette Baron-Reid
Marina replied to Whisper's topic in OraclesAnyone still using this deck nowadays? I just fond out there is a pocket edition of it, that comes in a tin, and it got my attention! I own only one deck by CBR, one of her first oracles, the Wisdom of the Hidden Realms… and I love it! It was a very unique deck when it was first released. However, I heard that her recent decks aren't as good, hence my doubts about the Mystical Shaman Oracle. I looked through the art and it seems interesting, it kind of reminds me of Susan Seddon Boulet's art, which I love. But I wonder if it the book is any good and if it reads well. Thanks! Yesterday

Deck of the Week Sign-up Thread, Week 471: Jul. 13 - Jul. 19
Rachelcat replied to fire cat pickles's topic in Deck of the WeekHi crew! Good to be back! This week will be Golden Dawn Magical Tarot by Sandra Tabatha Cicero and Chic Cicero, the last of my “Golden Dawn Tarot Not Thoth” subcollection. It follows Book T instructions for making one’s own tarot deck. I’m not sure what doc has the instructions for the images of the majors. Could you please tell me if you know? I’m afraid I’ve forgotten more tarot history than I ever knew . . . There are two Temperance cards, one with wings and a rainbow with an arrow for Sagittarius, and one alchemical with white eagle and red lion and a cauldron. I like that it’s very colorful, based on Golden Dawn color scales. And I like the naïve art because it shows devotion to the concepts more than appearances. I also like the old-fashioned (2001 copyright) Llewellyn presentation of the deck in a deck box and the same size booklet in a little shelf slipcase. The booklet has GD spreads including the full Opening of the Key. I’ll probably try to use some Golden Dawn spreads or reading methods this week, but first the interview. What is your most important characteristic? 3 Cups, Abundance, Mercury in Cancer The deck is a faithful manifestation (3) of the emotions (cups) of GD tarot. It has the necessarily abundant number of illustrations. Tarot is communication (mercury) of feelings (cancer). What is your strength? The Princess of Pentacles, Earth If she’s earth, why all the rams’ heads? Booklet just says “Her emblem is a winged ram’s head.” It’s a good physical artifact. I should keep this exact deck in my collection. Your weakness? 6 Wands, Victory, Jupiter in Leo No matter how successful it is as a Golden Dawn deck, it can’t be my favorite because I’ve moved on from GD attributions. It’s about knowing (Jupiter) enough to show off (Leo). What can you teach me? The Prince of Swords, Air His chariot is drawn by fairies. The deck can teach me all about the rationale behind the attributions. It can teach me how to learn about things I don’t agree with. How can I learn it? 8 Cups, Abandoned Success, Saturn in Pisces I should let go of my preferences (cups) and concentrate on the information (8). But there will be limitations (Saturn) to how much feeling I can avoid (Pisces). What will be the outcome of our work together? 2 Swords, Peace Restored, Moon in Libra We’ll agree to disagree on intellectual grounds. It’s all made up anyway (moon), so, with enough intellectual backing, all attributions are equal (Libra). Well, that was fun! It feels like an actual conversation with the cards.
