Not a deck for the circle-phobics then! I suppose the deck has to make sense according to our inner symbolic language, and this is always a very individual thing. Nevertheless, I may still give this one a chance! One last question: is the artwork clear enough, even in the pocket edition?

Thanks Vesta. It is. I still have some issues with fatigue and right-sided weakness, but otherwise I'm doing well. It's been nice to engage with people again and have meaningful discussions after being away from things for a while.

@Moon-Hermit I agree. I think of the various card systems (Tarot, Lenormand, Kipper etc.) as language systems, so the missing cards would be like missing words or concepts. I’m tempted to experiment with this though, to see if the deck finds a way to replace them or “speak” around them. I’ll definitely try get a full copy of the deck though. Gregory’s source also has a little white book with it, which will be helpful for me.

If I were in your situation, I would have found a replacement or recreated the missing cards at least and added them in. I never have and would never read with an incomplete deck. Lenormand is already a perfect system as it is, so even one card missing would ruin the whole balance and it wouldn’t be the Lenormand you’re reading anymore. If the Coffin is missing, what card would come up instead to indicate that something is “ending”? Life is filled with different sorts of endings and they are meant to happen at some point. Imagine it on a mundane level and think you were doing a daily reading; imagine, for instance, you had a Netflix subscription and it was gonna end that day, you had forgotten and the cards wanted to let you know, lol. Moon + Ring + Coffin = subscription ended. I doubt a deck with a missing card number 8 would be able to show it to you that clearly. Same goes with the Scythe, which can act as a warning for danger, sudden mishaps, sharp tools, etc.

Well it WOULD mean you can slip in the missing cards if you want !

@gregory Yes, there are copies that were published in the early 2000s, based on the 1950s deck. I suspect, after researching, that the one I have is reprint rather than a vintage version, though they look well used. Thank you for pm, much appreciated!

I’m in with my newly trimmed Rider-Waite, published by Lo Scarabeo with the centennial images. The reason I trimmed the deck was that this Lo Scarabeo edition had added card names at the top of the card, in addition to the English hand-written ones. I felt it disturbed the visual effect, so I hand-trimmed them off with scissors, together with the borders. The corners are also hand-trimmed. Took me a week, in between household chores and day trips out because it’s summer here and I’m ooff work. Now I need to decide whether I want to keep it in the original box, which is nice, or whether I want a bag, or both. Anyway, I asked what the deck wanted to communicate to me. No positions, but I did consider the base card (Sun) this time. What’s lacking in my life at the moment is that Sun energy, both in terms of light-heartedness and mental clarity. Otherwise, there’s plenty of sun (it’s not rained for many weeks). I’m happiest when I can focus on projects (professional and hobbies), so that’s the 3oW. So I read this to be active as much as I can (Ace) but to be mindful of mental exhaustion and feeling emotionally low with it (3oS). Too much activity is not conducive to my sense of wellbeing at the moment, so maybe to stand back and appreciate what I’ve achieved + plan for the future (rather than being active all the time). Limit my daily activity to certain times. The 3oW also brings to mind T S Eliot’s The Waste Land, which I’ve been rereading. Poetry and its rhythm has always had a regenerative effect on me.

I am unsure of where in the world it would be best to post the following, or who to have this conversation with safely to ensure its moral honesty and integrity. While I have recently read the comments posted during December of 2018 in this community forum relating to the issue of The Greenwood Tarot, and appreciate that the topic had been closed to further replies by the monitor at the time, I cannot conscientiously hold the story of The Greenwood in silence while there is renewed threat of printing and continued confusion. My hope is that the heart of The Greenwood is released, and if Chesca sees the following, her heart is warmed, and all threads of light be blessed! Response to posts I last saw Chesca in the garden of a home we'd been staying at outside London after burning an unopened publication of the Greenwood Tarot in a small firepit. The purpose of burning the deck was to release it from the primordial repression and contemporary curse that had bound the original non-gendered Lovers of the Greenwood, whose imagery embodies deep cultural and spiritual significance rooted in primal symbolism. Three years had passed since the 1996 publication of The Greenwood Tarot to that night in the garden. During that time, the primordial nature inherent in Chesca's original image of the androgynous Lovers blessing the land with their life-giving energy of love through tender hearts had never been discarded or overlooked by her. The Greenwood's deep connection to its primal and spiritual roots reflected Chesca's unwavering dedication. The card of the Two Deer-Headed Lovers was pivotal in awakening the Greenwood's true essence, serving as a catalyst for its spiritual liberation from oppression. Only through tenacity, integrity, and formidable devotion to the underlying mysteries and ethics of The Greenwood were the dormant elements and implicit truth of the cards able to reveal their hidden, profound symbolism, systematically through an extremely significant sequence. Unearthing the fundamental primitive message of The Greenwood began with the card of The Lovers. It ended when Endurance, the final card of The Greenwood to change, became The Gateway some three years after the initial printing and publication of The Greenwood Tarot Pre-Celtic Shamanism of The Mythic Forest. The Ancestor, a reindeer-headed figure and embodiment of gentle wisdom and ancestral memory, appeared, as The Shaman on the back of the cards stood up to take her place on the front of the cards, beating her drum to the soft cosmic rhythm of a heart that exists beyond the limits of persecution, fear, violation, or oppression. The rhythm of The Ancestors' drum lifted the mists from primal trackways, revealing a tangible passage to The Heart of the Greenwood and recognition of a more significant story for humanity. I know this because I walked beside Chesca through those years and witnessed the ancient curse of bondage breaking, as each card in turn revealed its true essence through the profoundly changing story of The Greenwood Tarot. Given how the cards had profoundly shifted in form, reprinting The Greenwood Tarot would have been to misrepresent The Greenwood with distorted imagery and embolden the primordial repression and curse that had bound them. Perpetuating The Greenwood Tarot as it had been published in 1996, after such a significant transformation, would have been irresponsible and misleading, and would have contributed further to the insidious dark tangled threads of ignorance and elusive control that surrounded them. I probably couldn't make it to one anyway, which is one reason I don't do that - but Brighton is south of London. Coming from where I am that would involve travelling to London and out again.... There's be more scope to attract people from a larger areas if she went north-er or Midlands-ish. Birmingham ? Nottingham ? both more central, good links and a LOT cheaper ! (and for the record, still FAR away from little me !)

I've experienced these three 'change' cards in several different ways, including the ways both you @Rayne and @DanielJUK have mentioned. However, I use a few different, fairly pragmatic meanings as well: Judgement - If you think of the traditional depiction of Judgement (the trumpet-blowing angel, people rising out of the graves) it appears that these people rising to be judged can no longer change anything about what they did in their lives. They will be judged now on what they've already done during their lives. Too late to repent, make changes, do things differently, etc. I stress that I am not in any way religious. However, I think the meaning of this upright card follows that particular train of thought. You've done all you can—or will—do to affect the outcome. You sit down to take your final exam. It's too late to study now. You either did or you didn't. The outcome will depend on what you've already done, on how well you have prepared. If you get the card reversed, that would mean there is still a bit of time to make a few alterations ...not a lot of time, but some. Get on it. I don't see the Judgement card as indicating the desirability of the outcome (upright=good, reversed=bad.) Judgement is just an indication of how close to the outcome you are, and whether you can still affect what is going to happen. The good/bad aspect of the outcome, depending on how the question is asked, will become clear via the surrounding cards. ........ The Tower equals shock. It's the unexpectedness of the event that's in play here. The Tower is, as you say, @Rayne externally imposed. It's the unwelcome bolt out of the blue that shatters what you thought was safe. I think that's why it's a particularly scary card ...you really can't predict the event is going to happen. It may or may not presage a beneficial change later on, after recovery, but the usual meaning ...that it's an important, unwelcome, and unforseen event ...rules the card for me. It's an event you have to deal with. Reversed usually means the event isn't as bad as first feared. The reversed card can also mean you're recovering from the shock, and finding a way to rebuild. ......... For me, Death means that something is finally over. (You've sold your house. You've got that divorce.) It will never return. Whatever has been dragging along and holding you back is finally done. You can relax now, and move on ...it's GONE! You can stop looking over your shoulder, wondering if it will re-appear—it won't, with the Death card upright. That is where the change comes in. This Death is NOT unexpected; it's something that's been waiting to happen. The other shoe has finally dropped. It can, of course, mean actual physical Death on rare occasions ...but, considering the number of times the Death card has appeared in my own readings and the fact that I am still alive and kicking—as are most of my near and dear ones—it's a good indication that unexpected physical Death is not the card's primary meaning for me. It CAN mean that there is no point hoping the change won't happen. This can be its negative aspect, if you don't want the change. But in general, upright Death is a beneficial, cleansing card that allows you to move on. Reversed, it means things have stagnated; what should be gone is still lingering. This can be the result of external factors that are stalled (divorce lawyers not getting back to you for ages) or can be your unwillingness to let go.

This week will be more Thothy decks, Tarot of Ceremonial Magick: A Pictorial Synthesis of Tree Great Pillars of Magick (Astrology, Enochian Magick, Goetia) by Lon Milo DuQuette (that’s the full title on the book) and my trimmed Aleister Crowley Thoth Pocket Swiss Tarot Deck. For those playing along at home, US Games Thoths: the large is called large in a green box, the medium is called small in a purple box, and the small is called pocket Swiss in a blue box. And a trimmed pocket Swiss is even smaller, of course! As the extended title implies, the Ceremonial Magick cards have lots of info on the cards: Majors have astro and Hebrew letter and magical seal of mercurial genii and magical seal of qliphothic genii. (These are spirits invented by Crowley. Their names are in the book.) Courts have astro attribution and dates, hexagram, Enochian ruling square, and tattwas (Hindu element symbols and colors). Aces have Enochian tablet, Enochian ruling square, Enochian seal of element, and tattwa. Minors have astro and dates, Enochian ruling square, shemhamephorash angel names, goetia demon sigils (names are in the book), and Golden Dawn title. I am just learning that Enochian is a way of creating angel names and other words from a set of tables created by Queen Elizabeth’s protégées Jon Dee and Edward Kelley, along with complex prayers or evocations of the angels in this “angelic language.” I know nothing about genii (and care less, as they say). I know just a little about Hebrew letter attributions and a little more about astro attributions. Attached is my list of which shemhamephorash angels and goetia demons are attributed to each minor card. (No idea why angels start with Leo instead of Aries, while demons start with Aries.) I also don’t understand why Crowley only used four of the eight trigrams to attribute hexagrams to the courts. Doesn’t it make more sense to associate ranks with four trigrams and suits with the other four? So there’s a lot I don’t understand about the reasons for the attributions, but I think I understand most of the attributions themselves. This should be interesting at least! I’m pairing it with my trimmed pocket Swiss because I figure the Ceremonial Magick deck has the titles I trimmed off of the little Thoth! It will be interesting to see how illustrations compare. I’m thinking I might do one card per day with other cards to illustrate the attributions. We’ll see. But before that, two interviews! What is your most important characteristic? Two Swords, Peace Restored, Luna in Libra I have to decide if it’s something I want to work with. It’s confident in its own way, but I don’t have to agree with it. What is your strength? High Priestess, Moon The deck actually works well with intuition, strangely enough with all the information. Your weakness? Five Disks, Material Trouble, Mercury in Taurus It’s not a great work of art, but it gets the idea across (Mercury) What can you teach me? Hermit, Virgo This extra symbol is Crowley’s unicursal hexagram. Ironically, the deck can teach me to go my own way with attributions and everything that goes with that. How can I learn it? Five Swords, Defeat, Venus in Aquarius In order to do that, I need to give up on all this Golden Dawn and Thoth stuff. Which I actually already have. And go my own way (Aquarius) with whatever I like (Venus). What will be the outcome of our work together? Three Wands, Established Strength, Sol in Aries I will be strengthened in my resolve to do my own thing (Aries). Ok then! What is your most important characteristic? 10 Swords, Sun in Gemini The deck has too much information! Or it’s extreme in one point of view. What is your strength? Priestess Same card in same position! It works well as an intuitive deck again despite all the extra systems referred to. Your weakness? Fool On the other hand, it’s not so helpful to a beginner. It has a lot to unpack (bag of astro runes), and that could be a fruitful thing (grapes and butterfly) or a dangerous thing (crocodile and tiger). What can you teach me? 8 Wands, Mercury in Sagittarius It can teach me a lot of intellectual stuff (8, Mercury, somewhat Sag) I can act on (Wands). How can I learn it? 3 Disks, Mars in Capricorn By working hard (Mars in Cap) and making something (3 and Disks) of it. What will be the outcome of our work together? Tarot of the Absurd, Page of Blades; Post-psychedelic Cyberpunk Deck, Matrioshka I understand how a first impression is often just that: a quick snapshot that, on its own merit, is meaningless. —Adriana Trigiani This sly, saucy Page has a mind as quick as lightning and a tongue as sharp as her sword. She is full of knowledge and likes to surprise people with how much she knows. Though she understands and collects information, it amounts to one grain from all the world's beaches. She has not yet grasped that what she wields isn't wisdom; it will take time and experience to learn to use it well rather than as a weapon or as an arrogant display. Matrioshka, or Russian nesting dolls reminds us that first impressions may not accurately give us enough information to judge a situation or person. We all have had days when we were stressed and reacted badly, or in the past, when we were young and cocky. Given some time, a fuller picture can be revealed, good or bad.

Yeah, that's what the Deck to Check panel didn't do. And I checked several times. It loaded the pictures and the bit about where to buy the deck, etc, but didn't load the review. No biggie. I was just worried that the review itself had been wiped!

Was going to say, it's still in the index and linked, we haven't deleted any decks from the library 😃 The Deck to Check panel just randomly chooses decks from the library to show. Currently it's not randomly loading the Allcento for me but the next time it does, I will check what it's linking to and check the review. It should just load the page of the deck, same url as the index.

Never mind. I just checked and the review of Allcento is still there. It just doesn't appear when I click on the pictures of the deck in the Deck To Check section. Has that always been the case? If so, I just noticed. Anyway....the review is still up when it's accessed from the alphabetical list.

Just noticed that my review of the Allcento Tarot (in the Deck Library) which was approved and was up on the site for months, has disappeared.
