@Bodhiseed !♥ These are 2 VERY interesting decks! I have to take a closer look! I am continuing to use the Alchemist's Garden Tarot - for a few days. On Thursday morning we are leaving home for 3 months in Newfoundland. 🐳 I will be far away from the internet and from TTM;, might come for a quick look now and then.... So I wish you all a wonderful summer - and may the cards SPEAK! ♥ Mi-Shell

Thank you Fire cat! I'm in this week with the Tarot of the Absurd paired with the Post-psychedelic Cyberpunk Deck. Tarot of the Absurd, Page of Blades; Post-psychedelic Cyberpunk Deck, Matrioshka I understand how a first impression is often just that: a quick snapshot that, on its own merit, is meaningless. —Adriana Trigiani This sly, saucy Page has a mind as quick as lightning and a tongue as sharp as her sword. She is full of knowledge and likes to surprise people with how much she knows. Though she understands and collects information, it amounts to one grain from all the world's beaches. She has not yet grasped that what she wields isn't wisdom; it will take time and experience to learn to use it well rather than as a weapon or as an arrogant display. Matrioshka, or Russian nesting dolls reminds us that first impressions may not accurately give us enough information to judge a situation or person. We all have had days when we were stressed and reacted badly, or in the past, when we were young and cocky. Given some time, a fuller picture can be revealed, good or bad.

Yeah, that's what the Deck to Check panel didn't do. And I checked several times. It loaded the pictures and the bit about where to buy the deck, etc, but didn't load the review. No biggie. I was just worried that the review itself had been wiped!

Was going to say, it's still in the index and linked, we haven't deleted any decks from the library 😃 The Deck to Check panel just randomly chooses decks from the library to show. Currently it's not randomly loading the Allcento for me but the next time it does, I will check what it's linking to and check the review. It should just load the page of the deck, same url as the index.
  10. Chariot
Never mind. I just checked and the review of Allcento is still there. It just doesn't appear when I click on the pictures of the deck in the Deck To Check section. Has that always been the case? If so, I just noticed. Anyway....the review is still up when it's accessed from the alphabetical list.
  11. Chariot
Just noticed that my review of the Allcento Tarot (in the Deck Library) which was approved and was up on the site for months, has disappeared.

There is the slight issue of travel and accommodation costs. They make most London based events affordable. Just saying. Have one outside the capital !

Yup. And Quabbalah is not my forte & I don't use it - although I do vagueley remember a most excellent presentation on pathworking with the Majors in this manner, given by the inestimable Suzanne Corbie. So - that's for you to tell us all about 🙃.

@KiMo How dare they get married during The Conference 🤣🤣.

@Marina Give me a while with the book. I haven't read it yet. As for the cards I've taken out... it's something to do with the image itself & also the card label not matching up with the image. 'Water' is depicted in a circle (there are ALOT of circles in the artwork) - & I find that annoying. 'Fire' is also in a circle - 🧐. 'Sacrifice' & 'The Giveaway' both have ladies "offering hands up to the sky" - & somehow neither of these say that adequately to me. I didn't like 'Thunder'... until I noticed that under the circle which is supposed to contain thunder (🙄), there is a group of running wilderbeast. Oh... they're not called wilderbeest... they're what?.... Gnus! Now - I can see how the sound of racing Gnus can be THUNDER 👊🏽 🙃 See what I mean? Your mileage may differ (as they say), depending on how the images strike you.

There are decks with those images but where the images look rather poor quality - allegedly put out by ASS in 2003. I believe they are now part of Cartamundi. http://sova38.ru/index.php/galereya/lenorman-tsyganskie/88-lenormand-ass-2003?u but I can't see one for sale that looks "reliable"

Thank you both for your thoughts! I actually remembered the details incorrectly: it was a different deck I was gifted. This one I bought myself at a vintage fair, and I think I was aware the cards were missing before I bought it, I don’t remember exactly. The images must have appealed but I never read with it and put it away for many years because I thought it was useless incomplete. Just a silent part of my collection. I kept it in a random box (the cards were loose when I bought them) and I sort of rediscovered it by accident. And fell in love with it. My thinking now is that maybe the deck was meant to come to me with the two cards missing. That said, I have tried to source replacements. For now, I have only found complete decks for lots of money. It must be rare, and one of the reasons I like it is that I’ve never seen the images before or since.

I only own and (occasionally) use one deck where one card is missing. It's the Hanged Man. As a substitute I use the cover card that was left (you know those with deck title on it). So the message of the Hanged Man could get through. Of course one can read with an incomplete deck – but why? Because it's hard to declare a thoughtful and beautiful gift as useless? I hope this doesn't sound rude but I think that's the crux. If you fell for the deck's charm (understandably, it's one of my favourite Lenormand decks) drop me a line and I may be able to get you a replacement.

I'm not an experienced Lenormand reader ...although I own several decks and occasionally try a reading. As you say, the previous owner seems to have removed two 'dark' cards ...Coffin and Scythe...for a reason. Maybe afraid of the idea or symbols of death? Fair enough—although they passed the deck along to a new owner, so maybe the altered deck didn't work for them very well. I believe any deck (Tarot, Lenormand, Kipper, Oracle) takes on whatever vibe you, the reader, put into it. So, by all means, give it a try without the two cards, as you still find the deck has lovely energy. See how you get on. If you feel the deck tells you what you need to know without those two cards, then the altered deck works for you. 🙂 If you sense the deck is missing out on vital aspects of a reading, then maybe just retire it? Or see if you can replace the cards in some way? It's your deck now, and you don't need to absorb the fears of the previous owner. As to working with incomplete decks, I have been known to occasionally remove all the court cards from a tarot deck before doing a reading. This removes the references to actual people or personal characteristics, and sometimes simplifies the reading for me. (I don't do this often at all, by the way ...but occasionally.) Cards are a tool; how you use that tool is up to you.

I have been gifted a vintage Lenormand (this: http://spielkartenonline.de/product.php?id_product=3305) with cards 8 and 10 missing. The deck has a lovely energy to it and I’d like to use it. So I’ve been thinking what to do about the missing cards. My first thought was to recreate or otherwise add the two cards, but then I decided it was the ‘fate’ of the deck to be read without Scythe and Coffin. The previous owner took them out for a reason, adding the cards now would disturb the energy of the deck for me. I’m not a confident Lenormand reader and certainly not someone who would do a grand tableau, but, obviously, the deck will speak differently without those two cards. Does anyone else read with incomplete decks?
  30. Chariot
Ha ha! I enjoy your sense of humour. It just wants to feel things and eat grapes. But yeah. It's hard not to see the Empress and the Emperor as totally divergent energies. They both seem so immersed in their separate roles. I wonder if they can interact with each other at all. Is there any modicum of cooperation or understanding between them? 'Just you wait till your father gets home!' 'I'll let your mother deal with that.'
