I lay my house deck as a 6x6 GT ordered 1-36. Then I lay the randomized spread deck atop those. To me, randomizing the houses would add unnecessary complication to an already complex spread. Being familiar with Lenormands 1-36 laid in a 6x6 grid, it's easy for me to identify when a card falls in its domicile [own house]. If I randomized the house positions this becomes diificult to spot / easy to miss. Likewise for house exchanges [ring falls in snake's house and snake falls in ring's house for example]. Likewise, I don't necessarily read every house of a GT. Sometimes I only want to know about one topic [lets say money for example]. Because I'm familiar with house placements as a 6x6 GT, my eyes can go immediately to H34 [fish's house] to check finances. Or to H15 to check investments. You get the idea. For me it's purely pragmatic. Randomizing both decks is an interesting idea--but my eyesight isn't sharp enough to do it 😎

Chiming in a bit late--but some thoughts about Eclipses from an NON HYPED astrology perspective. #1 Eclipses have gotten over-hyped due to Social Media. Every Youtube / Tictok / IG astrologer has to make some algorithm grabbing headline hook about eclipses to get attention. 🙄 Thus EVERY eclipse is now some world-shaking dramatic event [as per social media] #2 Lunar eclipse can affect us more personally [more on this below]. Historically, Solar eclipses are seen as casting fortunes for the nation and the king. #3 The location of the eclipse determines how it might affect YOU personally. A lunar eclipse that falls exactly over the ascendent or natal moon of your birth chart? Prolly going to be intense. I experienced this in the eclipse cycles a couple years ago with the eclipse happening over my natal moon. Good time to stay home and do shadow work meditations. Bad time for anything else. OTOH this summer's eclipse cycle doesn't hit sensitive points on my chart. August 12? No big deal. I lived my normal life, did a nice morning meditation, had a bit of good luck and a generally pleasant day. #4 How a lunar eclipse affects you depends if it hits sensitive points in your natal chart. Conversely if your nation or ruler is strongly affected by the Solar eclipse--this will have indirect bearing on your life [inasmuch as the fortunes of your Nation affect your quality of life]. #5 Even if we dump astrology--the ASTRONOMY of eclipses is still pretty cool and mystical. I don't feel that science minimizes mysticism. In many ways modern science only increases the mystical awe I feel for the grand dance of the cosmos. @Chariot #6 General practices: I avoid travel during an eclipse. I avoid starting major projects. The one time I flew on an eclipse day; the whole trip was a nightmare. Didn't even realize it until after the fact ... so it wasn't a self fulfilling prophesy. Never again will I book a flight on an eclipse day. I sometimes find my digestion or interest in food is less during a solar eclipse. Ayurvedically the sun affects digestion, so it makes sense. It's a subtle thing if it happens at all. Not like the social media hype.

Hi all! This week will be another new arrival of a preorder, The Psychopomps Oracle by Tiffany Lazic, art by Fabio Listrani. The author previously published a book on the subject, and the artist created some disturbing angel and demon cards that I passed on, along with other tarot decks from Llewellyn. But these illustrations seem more conventional with only occasional creepy weirdness, as befits the subject matter, I guess. The backs aren’t addressed in the booklet, but look like a sigil, possibly made up of symbols of the deities in the deck? There is a lot of mythological information here about figures from many cultures, so I’m going to be using the booklet a lot. 44 large numbered cards with deity names and keywords. The cards are organized in 8 categories: Passage Guides, Threshold Keepers, Gatherers, Rescuers, Visitors, Comforters, Harbingers, and Healers. We’ll see how I do this week. Interview first! What is your most important characteristic? Dionysus, Fidelity, rescuer I didn’t know Dionysus, god of wine and pleasure, also rescued his mother from the underworld. Even though the deck is about death and the underworld and afterlife, it can communicate about other things, like pleasure. What is your strength? Gwyn Ap Nudd, Assistance, gatherer He gathers souls that need to go to the land of the dead as the leader of the wild hunt. He also helped Culhwch win Olwen by assisting him on his quest. He and his hunting dogs are white, and the dogs have red ears. The deck is helpful in learning more mythology, even though it’s mostly about endings. Like a hunt, it can be inspiring even though it always ends in death. Your weakness? Inanna, Sacrifice, visitor She went to the underworld to gain power and knowledge, for which she sacrificed everything. All the learning can be gained elsewhere. It’s not necessary to give up everything to learn from the deck. What can you teach me? Charon, Responsibility, passage guide He must be paid to take souls to the other shore, the responsibility of the traveling soul. The deck can teach me you can never get something for nothing. Pay for what I use and don’t be stingy or complaining about it. How can I learn it? St. Michael, Protection, passage guide The leader of god’s army again the devil and protector of souls crossing over. I am protected from fear of death. That will help me learn to do what is required of me without hesitation. What will be the outcome of our work together? Santa Muerte, Understanding, gatherer She’s not a GRIM reaper, but she IS a personification of death. She gathers the dead to her gently. I will learn and gain understanding from the deck. I will be reinforced in my absence of fear of death. Sounds good to me! I look forward to learning more this week.

Thank you Fire cat! I'm in with the PetraK Tarot paired with Astrodice this week. PetraK Tarot, Death; Astrodice, Neptune in Cancer, 1st House No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man. ― Heraclitus I'm currently reading Joan Chittister's Gift of Aging. In her introduction, she states that the book is not about dying because we don't need to get old to die. Change and loss begin soon after we're born as a natural part of impermanence. In Petra's card, the scorpion represents the sting of loss, but the butterfly symbolizes the beauty and understanding that can come too. Yet if we cling to tightly to the sting, we miss the gift. Neptune in Cancer within the 1st House suggests being viewed by others as a person who drifts toward people and places that feel like emotional home. In times of great change and bereavement, that seems like a sane and safe response in order to learn to accept and to heal.

When a label is made, shippers send me a "Your package is on its way!" email, and I think, "Yes, here we go." They rarely send the truth: your address was printed out somewhere, and... that's it. 🙄

Thank you. I ordered from the artist's website, too. It (the site) does say it can take up to 14 business days to ship. The label has been made and the post office is waiting for the package. I ordered it on the 5th so I should just be patient as there are a few more days.

As most of my friends know (because I mention it every time) my beloved and I met during, and because of, a solar eclipse - the partial eclipse on 11th May 1975. Eclipse watching on the science block flat roof at school. It was quite cool up there, and this tall bloke a couple of years above me had a black coffee . . . The rest is history. So we always try to view them if we can, lunar eclipses too, and always with a coffee, well two coffees these days LOL But we were also out for several nights watching the Perseids @Chariot - hope you got some nice views? So, just happy nerds really (he has no spiritual approach to it) PathWalker

Love it! 🤣 For me it’s also a matter of culture and beliefs. Sól/Sol and Máni/Måne (the Norse sun goddess and moon god, respectively) are siblings. One would not exist without the other, but you can still have a practice that focuses more on one than the other. Also, I was born at night, under a dark moon, so I’ve always felt very attuned with the moon and especially its darker phase 😊

Well yes, but by that definition I could also say that whenever I’m working with the moon, I’m also working with the sun… given that I wouldn’t see the moon without the sun. Those who get me, get me 😁

Well, it WAS also a lunar event, without the moon, there would not have been an eclipse! @Chariot "one celestial body passing in front of another one in an orderly fashion" 🤣 so true actually (but "orderly fashion" made me giggle 😁)
  28. Chariot
I'm maybe in the minority, but I have never been worked up about eclipses, or tried to see one. Basically, they are predictable, and are nothing more than one celestial body passing in front of another one in an orderly fashion, temporarily blocking our view. Now that we know it's not some dragon eating the sun (which would have been exciting, to say the least), an eclipse is just a transitory event. It's like another shopper blocking your aisle with a grocery cart while they contemplate cans of tuna. I get more excited by meteor showers or Northern Lights, or cloud formations, or storms. Each is more of a random phenomenon than eclipses. Mind you, I live in Scotland now, which is not a great place to foster the hobby of astronomy! This year, the cloud cover was so thick we hardly even noticed the daylight dropping during the eclipse. I mean ...we weren't even at the supermarket when the grocery cart blocked the aisle. 😜 Missed it completely.

If it's helpful info, I ordered from the creator's site on June 2. A shipping label was created on June 3, but it actually went out on the 11th. I received it on the other side of the world on June 14 (only 3 days from the US to here is so fast; I can't remember whether there was more than one shipping option.)

So, there was much drama about the solar eclipse here in the UK - on Wednesday 12th. I've already had several clients tell me all about their experience of gathering in a designated spot - which turned out to be chockablock with eclipse fans - to watch the event. As for myself - I'd forgotten when it was, until someone reminded me on the day - by which time I thought "well, I'm not prepared & I have work - so that's that". Lol. I like to be properly prepared for things. So - I'm wondering if anyone else would like to recount their story of their experiences? Ironically - the last client of the day that I was expecting cancelled due to an emergency - and, I then promptly went to bed. I... was ASLEEP during the solar eclipse 🤣. What a waste of the magickal "alignment of 12 planets" plus an eclipse! The ritual I could have performed - the poems I could have written - the visions I could have seen!!! 🙀 Forgive my melodrama. It's the beginning of my 17 day summer holiday and I'm extremely happy. What did YOU do on the Eclipse?
