So I wonder if anyone else experiences this, I have the general meanings of the tarot card meanings, and can apply that knowledge in my message. I have found though at times, and this can be a strange phenomenon if you’ve ever experienced it, that a story of sorts about the symbols or figures within the card will spring to mind about what that figure is about to do once it’s no longer stationary, like a cinematic that helps me know what message my cards are trying to give to the person I’m giving the reading too.

I know this is going to be different for everyone, but I am genuinely curious about what other tarot readers experience when they are shuffling their decks. Do you find you approach shuffling differently for different readings or decks, or do you always do your shuffling the same way? Do you take into account the messages you receive before laying any cards or do you solely focus on the cards themselves? Share away.

What techniques do you apply during a reading for another person, to remain present and objective in that reading, and ensure that your message isn’t influenced by any of your own personal bias or thoughts, that your message is the clearest message for that individual, for what THEY need to know, and not what you think they need to know?

I recently opened up my copy of Yoshi Yoshitani's Tarot of the Divine - which has linen cardstock - and was horrified to find the cards were appallingly bowed. I've seen decks that are a bit bent before, but that's right out of the shrinkwrap, and never this severe. After a lot of digging, I came across some references (most clearly this review of the Divine deck) that talk about linen cardstock getting bowed in response to the wrong kind of air humidity. Does anyone know more about this? I haven't been able to find specifics, like what level of humidity is required to keep linen cardstock happy! I want to make sure this doesn't happen again, but …

I tried searching using multiple ways of expressing it but couldn't find a thread on the cards being used in movies or t.v. shows. Is there one?

I’ve seen so many tarot readers on tik tok do fertility readings. I’m interested in knowing how they interpret the cards to fertility? I’m not looking to do fertility readings but I am a little confused on how they exactly do it.

Came across this in a bookstore, looked pretty fun. "Divine your dinner", basically a tarot cookbook with a recipe for each card.

Hello ! I think i have the most accurate username for tarot. i'm very very new and having a hard time reading things for myself when i start to incorporate multiple cards. what i mean is, i drew a 3 card career reading for myself- not with the intention of past/present/future, just 3 card.... i pulled 3 of wands, king of swords and 9 of pentacles reversed. i interpreted it as the position i'm seeking is still available to me and within reach (3 of wands) but in order to secure it, i need to demonstrate my skills/education/expertise (king of swords) without the insecurity i feel (9 of pentacles). i guess i'm wondering if a…

Curious as to what people's personal opinions are, as I know there are some people who study tarot secularly, simply as an introspective tool that reveals their subconscious, and others who use tarot in divinatory ways and believe spirit guides (or what have you) are providing answers. I can appreciate both sides, but something recent lately has made me question the secular tarot method recently. If tarot is only subconscious self-study, I'm confused as to why the many Pick a Card readings I've used to watch on YouTube, I would always get the same message? Not once has it deviated, and these are readings from many different people with the same specific detai…

So I was doing my daily tarot spread to become better at reading cards. I've bought the meaning booklet that goes with my deck to get a better understanding. So the reading was a simple two card spread about me looking at what I need to work on today kinda like shadow work. I got the Queen of Wands reversed and the King of Wands upright. My booklet defined the Queen as being a symbol of me feeling overwhelmed by burdens and made a note to mention that the card reversed usually symbolizes something triggering long term trauma. I understood that quickly. Right before I sat down to meditate I was flooded of memories of how in high school I was being groomed…

Hi! I'm a newbie in tarot reading. I have a question that's really important to me. Can you get incorrect answers? How and when does it happen? I tend to take "tarot answers" too seriously. That's why I get nervous whenever I try to read tarot cards for myself because I'm scared of negative answers.

I guess Google tracks my every movement on my phone because when I go the app on my phone it has all these interesting news stories to show me from news, music and yes, all kinds of tarot stuff. So, one that came up yesterday for a yearly tarot reading for sagittarius, a one card reading, for me it was the 4 of Wands (I'm getting a lot of Wands lately), reversed. Well, the reader said that the 4oW is actually a good card even reversed. But my issue is, and maybe its just me, how can one card show what a year will be? It was the RWS deck by the way. I just don't think one card, or even two, maybe at least three can show a year. That person does seem to have a reg…

Hello all, Not sure if this post fits here. I have noticed that when I go on a roll of multiple draws or questions I start getting physically tired. Is this a normal occurrence? Is there a way to reduce the effects? Thanks in advance!

I did some readings for friends yesterday in a public place and sadly returned home without the ace of pentacles! What do I do? Does anyone have a good recommendation for buying single replacement cards? Or should I buy a new deck and just replace the one card (and what do I then do with the other deck?). It's a standard rider-waite deck (the one with the tudor rose design on the back), so not expensive to buy another. I want to keep using my one though as I feel very connected to it now. Any thoughts?

Newbie here and NO idea where I should post this question. Looked for a general discussion forum, but the one that is there didn't have start new topic feature. SO apologies for the misplacement. I went to cut my deck over my lap and they slipped from my hands and hand half landed in my coffee cup. Not sure why they didn't drop straight down into my lap, but they didn't. I washed them off and they are drying now. What have people done with cards that have gotten wet? Is this part of the history or need a new deck? Help. Also, please direct me to the proper forum if this is not ok here.

I was wondering what favorite ways you have for mixing other systems in with Tarot (if that's your thing). For example, I've seen some people start a reading with 3 oracle cards to get the vibe of the situation then do the tarot reading (or sometimes in reverse). Then there's others who put down three Lenormand cards as the reading, then go deeper using Tarot. Then there's other specialty decks such as the Tea Leaf cards. Again, I've seen people read with the Tarot, then finish up with the Tea Leaf cards (these ones also have timing cards included so they could be used to clarify timing). Do you enjoy mixing systems and if so, what's your favorite way?

I’m new to Tarot. So I don’t know all the ins and outs. Sometimes I’ll ask a question, and the cards don’t appear to answer it directly, but it pertains to my life. Is it possible the cards don’t always answer directly, but instead show you what you really should be looking at?

I come across tarot readers that offer readings for a mere US$1. How could they justify the time and energy they put behind the readings? What do you think of such readers?

Hello all. I'm curious as to who might be considered a traditional tarot reader. Mary Greer, Rachel Pollack or are there no such things. If someone wanted to learn tarot with trad meanings who would you suggest? Thanks.

Which non-tarot books have you read which help with Tarot? e.g. History Mythology Symbology Numerology Animal totem Anything else or specific books you recommend or found useful? Edited to clarify: this is to add layers to a reading as we would with astrology. For example, the story of Persephone in Greek mythology might come to mind my eye is caught on the image of a pomegranate on a card.

My partner and I wanted to explore our relationship through the cards. Could we do a joint reading or would it only work if we did separate reading for each of us?
