I've been reading for others since May of this year....I couldn't tell you exactly how many readings I've done for others (all long distance)...but if I had to guess maybe around 200. But tonight. Tonight I hit my first wall. I tried to read for this person twice...once when I first took my cards out, got absolutely nothing...I saw nothing, couldn't make sense of any of the cards. So then I tried to do some other readings for other people, and those came out simple/easy! Figured alright lets go back to the first person...nope wall was still there :-[ This is super discouraging. Never have I not been able to read for someone. Does it make me a bad tarot reader? Have oth…

Hi all! what are peoples opinions on spreads that have mostly reversed cards. For example, a 7 card spread for a relationships. 5 out of the 7 reversed, but with the outcome card being the wheel of fortune, upright. regards Minerva

Hi all Having been away from my cards for a while, I've joined a couple of tarot Facebook groups, so that I can interact and do interpretations of card readings. One thing that I've noticed is that more often than not, people will post a photo of cards and ask for interpretations, but give no spread. They will post the question, but then nothing as to which card is in what position. Are spreads optional? Are more people reading tarot cards in a storyboard fashion, or linking key words to form statements? Do you need to have a position to 'frame' the meaning of the card? How many people read tarot without using spreads? T…

Actually not sure which section this would fit in so please feel free to correct and move the post if needed. I was wondering how people draw their cards and why. Since I asked I’ll start - I tend to shuffle and stop when called to, then draw from the top. If I ask a second question or want clarifiers I will shuffle again and then again draw from the top, but unless it’s a new unrelated question I will use the same deck minus the already drawn cards. If I get cards that fly out during shuffling I look at them and note them but will put them back in the deck. I will only read them if they reappear as part of my deliberately drawn cards later i…

Hello all. I have been practicing Tarot for about one year now, and have only done readings for myself and a few close friends as I continue to learn. I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and thought it would be fun to ask the Tarot what the sex of my baby is. I pulled three cards: 9 of Wands, The Chariot, 6 of Wands To me this reading points to a boy, as Wands have a masculine fire energy. The Chariot also seems to be a masculine card. What's also of interest to note, all of these cards represent strength, confidence, determination and rising up. Seems to me like this will be a strong, confident boy. Do you think I'm interpreting this correctly? Thanks for any i…

It was pointed out to me the other day that nine of cups could be read as be careful what you wish for: what we believe we want isn't what we actually want. I have always thought that the defensive nature of the nine of wands is down to being caught out in a lie. There's a fake it till you make it aspect. The nine of swords can be seen as worry over nothing or getting things totally out of proportion. In all three cases there's an element of wrong belief/representation. It's not just that there's something missing, it's a disconnect with reality. With raises the obvious question. What about the nine of pentacles? It's easy to talk about what's missing, but is there als…

I just nabbed Cassandra Snow's Queering the Tarot and Rachel Pollack's Tarot Wisdom, but I was wondering if anyone was aware of other books that might suit (ha!) a queer, intuitive reader who's into diverse decks? I'm much less interested in the history of tarot than I am in new and experimental takes on it, new ways of looking at the cards and steering clear of rigid interpretations... That sort of thing. Bonus points if the recommended book/s come as ebooks, since physical disability makes handling paperbacks difficult these days!

Are there any good tarot magazines on the market either e-mags or old-skool on the newsagent's shelf? I've managed to find one good one ... The Cartomancer which what it lacked in content (i read it cover-to-cover in under an hour) made up for in quality. The articles were very pro, interesting, & made me really think....well worth $5. From what I can tell, there seemed to be a lot of tarot mags out there, but a lot of them have closed. But if anyone knows of any that are running now I'd like to hear from you. Many thanks.

Hi! I'm a newbie in tarot reading. I have a question that's really important to me. Can you get incorrect answers? How and when does it happen? I tend to take "tarot answers" too seriously. That's why I get nervous whenever I try to read tarot cards for myself because I'm scared of negative answers.

I’m new to tarot and was wondering when I do readings either for myself or other people should I start involving reversed cards? Or would it be better to learn the meanings upright first?

So I met this guy a few months ago and felt a connection with him. I started watching tarot videos on YouTube about how my future lover will look/be like and it all matched him. I looked into my astrology and saw how I'd meet my husband and it matched up! I've been asking my own oracle/tarot cards about what he thinks about me. I keep getting the same cards but I'm not sure how to interpret them. For the most part I always get the world card and temperance or strength. I think he's having problems with balance in his life. My oracle cards gave me broken heart and woman holding a coin (i'm not rich so idk what this means). This is what I got last night when …

As I learn more about Tarot it seems clear that a lot of the correspondences we use, Kabbalah, Astrology, Elemental, even Fool's Journey, are not there in the original decks. I think we don't have the cultural literacy to read the cards with the original meanings, though. Obviously the Visconti-Sforza Tarot would be meaningful as far as which card "trumps" another, even without being numbered, and the Sola Busca could have unique pictures that still spoke to people enough to understand why they were there. We don't have that. Do we go by intuition, which undoubtedly the first readers must have used in fortune telling, even if the symbols on the cards have chan…

I’m finding that I’m having difficulty connecting meaning to the following cards: 3 of Coins 7 of Coins and the Pages and Knight court cards Anyone else have issues with these? I feel like when I see them that it just has a neutral feel, or a very limited understanding. For example, all I can think of with 3 of Coins is teamwork. Reversed, I think only of projects not working out. 7 of Coins I see waiting. Reversed I see spoilage. And the pages and knights all might as well be the same cards because they’re like a blur to me.

Hello 👋 I first became interested in tarot when I was 13 (let’s just say many years ago lol) and I purchased my first deck at the mall. I had only the little booklet that came with it. Back then we didn’t have the Internet forums, myriad YouTube videos, and courses online so I had to go to my library and read whatever 1-2 tarot books they had available. As an older young adult I took lessons from someone who worked at my local bookstore taught private lessons on his lunch break. I was just curious how you learned to read the tarot? Home study course? Videos online? A professional teacher? How long ago? Would you recommend that method today to someone else? Do you ta…

Do you eat or drink anything in the middle of a reading. Why/why not? Do you think it's somehow disrespectful towards the cards or do you feel like a little sacrifice (of your hunger/thirst) might make your reading more potent? Does feeling full affect your concentration, like does it make you feel drowsy or uncentered? Or do you just dislike the crumbs that would mess up your workspace if you're finicky? Or do you think it doesn't really matter, so you'd eat or drink whenever necessary, even in the middle of a reading? Some do this only during breaks tho, and just clean their hands when they have to read again.

I noticed in one of the other threads some of the respondents mentioned tarot decks that don't have reversals by design. That's very interesting. I've never heard of tarot decks being set up that way. I think Robbin Wood was mentioned, but what are some other decks like this?

Wondering what these cards mean for feelings keep pulling 5 of cups rx and 3 of swords rx for a person's feelings and not sure how to interpret. I suppose it can be read as moving away from sadness to healing or perhaps trying to block out sadness...some sources say it means extreme sadness but I wouldn't take it as that at all...I tend to pull cards for myself so that I can better read for others but don't think I've ever pulled these for my own feelings so have no real life experience/confirmation of this reversal..what do you think? For now I'm sort of taking these as blocking emotional pain.

While reading "Tarot Stellar" by Christiana Gaudet, I came across a very interesting exercise that consisted in separating the four aces from the rest of the deck and ask which one better describes your reading style. I found it quite useful to help us think thoroughly about our reading style and how can we better put our strengths out there so they can shine. I am an Ace of Pentacles and I couldn't agree more. What is your Ace reading style and how do you think it relates to you?

I absolutely adore perfume. Adore it, especially niche perfume. Essential oils, aromatic oils, ouds, woods, spices, incense; fragrances that originate in the souks of the Middle East and waft along desert winds. And I love my Tarot cards, my oracle cards, my Lenormand... So, I decided to put them together and see if that would also enhance both my relationship with the various decks and my bonding with them. I just bought Tarot of the Hidden Realm. The fey, denizens of the forest, the sidhe... I thought they would be more comfortable if they could be surrounded by the wonderful odours of their forests and streams. I have this wonderful essential oil combinatio…

see posts #4 and #5 for up to date lists Rather than carry a big box of a dozen or more decks when we travel for months, I'm creating a Rogue Deck. To carry one deck with cards from 78 different decks. Printed out so they are all the same size, cohesive and easy to shuffle. Except I have 46 decks, leaving me short 32 cards. This is what a printed out sheet looks like I have a system for cutting so they all come out the same size.
