Hi guys, curious to hear if/how you consider and involve the bottom of the deck when dealing a spread. Recently, after dealing my spreads I have taken to revealing the card at the bottom of the deck for supplementary underlying energy for the situation. Sometimes I will quickly pass through the bottom 3-5 cards and tell myself a quick little summarized narrative to gather additional insight to consider. Interested to hear other approaches to this, and why you guys think it's important.

i asked my cards about a guy I was seeing that ended things 3 days ago if he would come back to me romantically. He was first unwilling to get into a relationship but then a few weeks ago confessed he was having feelings that were growing and he wanted me by my side. But he is going to college for 3 months which was a worry for both of us. He ended things saying he had to do it alone. I pulled first the 10 of cups then, 6 of cups. Any advice on what these mean together? Thanks

I have recently started reading guide books on decks I buy. I read them because I'm hoping for a insight on artists non-stand RWS card images. I just purchased the Kvirly deck at Esty's. The images remind me of the Deviant Moon Tarot. The LWB is useless, however, since it only gives standard card definitions and some odd interpretations. I've never heard of before. It's of no use to me as it doesn't address the symbolism of cards in the deck. I've had this problem with other Indy decks. It annoys me. I don't read every guidebook if they're RWS clones. What do you guys do?

Hi! out there 8) I was asked to say whats been happening with my readings for me as a reader, since I've been giving readings here at TT&M, and how it has helped... Here's the request and my answer: Dee, I remember when you started your thread back in June I think, and every time I see the title go by I wonder. Wonder how or if you see reading style/technique growing or changing, and if feedback for that many readings has giving you insight you didn't have before. Will you make a post about that in Talking Tarot? Kudos for sticking with it! Sharyn/AJ Hi! AJ, Thank you :) I think I do things the same way pretty much(my style), but it keeps me up on …

The best way to explain what I have in mind here is to insert part of a PM I sent to Aldor44 earlier today: "Your thread at https://www.thetarotforum.com/tarot-for-yourself/looking-for-fresh-perspective/ has raised many astonished questions and ideas for me, not only about your insightfully unusual interpretations of some of the cards, but about my own reading style and ability and indeed about Tarot itself. "To raise these concerns in your thread would be to hijack the thread to my own discussion and for my own needs. Instead, I would like to use it as a springboard for a thread of my own. I would like to quote you extensively and from the quotes develop lines of…

Have you ever left out certain cards from your decks? l ask because l recently just heard of several people leaving out the Death, Tower, and Devil cards. And another reader to my amazement leaves out all Swords cards as well Death, Tower, and Devil. Would you still be able to get a credible reading from doing this, its not something that l have ever thought about doing myself. Do you know anyone who does this? What are your thoughts or experiences on this. Would be interested to hear from you.

In May I'm going to Montreal for the first time and I'm trying to learn some Canadian French. Can any French-speaking members share some Tarot vocabulary, like majors or reading vocabulary? If you could share how it's pronounced, that would be a plus for me. How about any good tarot spots in Montreal? Places to buy decks or get readings?

Hello, I was wondering how others read Oracle or Tarot decks with Chakras Cards ? Do you keep the Chakra Cards in the deck or do you separate the Chakra Cards? I just purchased the Connected and Free Oracle deck and it has 8 Chakra Cards. I have separated the Chakras Cards and use it to understand the energy surrounding the person or question and then I pull a tarot card to clarify the Chakra card. I would love to know how others use decks like the Psychic Tarot by John Holland and the Connected and Free Oracle by Inner Hue?

Hey all! To better understand the courts -I was toying with the following idea: Since Majors are seen as higher principles/ideas and courts are often viewed as people/ situations/aspects of our everyday life - I was thinking of pairing each court+ Reversed with its corresponding Major (Mostly looking at the RWS system) This is what I came up with so far and am comfortable with- Feel free to add/change/provide your own insights Queen of Pentacles= Empress- both in terms of creativity, caring for others, growth and of course fertility Queen of Cups= The High Priestess- In terms of being connected to one's intuition, a b…

Hey! Me again! New guy and a chatty Cathy! As mentioned in another thread, I am at the place where I want to start reading for others (heretofore I have been studing and doing self-directed readings). I have a question... When you read "in the wild" (not just for friends & family), what are the most common questions you get? Which ones are toughest? Are there any where you say, "Sorry, I don't go there"? (I guess that's three questions.)

Hey guys. I'm using the golden art nouveau tarot deck and I have encountered some problems with this 5 of cups. I would like to know your opinions. 1. As you can see, the 3 fallen cups has liquid with different colours (one is red, could that be wine or blood? One is blue or transparent, I suppose water) what do you think this refers to? Elements? 2. I understand that this man in the 5 of cups original card is quite depressed, disappointed, regret or feeling powerless because the 3 fallen cups, meanwhile he ignored the 2 upright cups behind him, which could be some emotional support that he can have once he turned back. But on this card, the upright cups ar…

Since I was having trouble shuffling a new deck (the edges couldn't take a faro shuffle or a riffle), I had to come up with something else. Then I remembered a method my Dad had taught me many, many years ago when teaching me to play poker. The thing is, it's excellent for large decks or fragile because it does not require much flexing of the cards and doesn't cause wear on the edges. See the attachments for examples to go along with the instructions; 1) Holding the Deck; Hold the deck in your dominant hand, face down between your thumb and fingers. I tend to hold the deck by the top & bottom, but if it is too large for you this way, it works just as well to hol…

How often does what you read to be an outcome of a situation end up being true or false? Because readings are only ever possible outcomes although many, including myself, sometimes have wishful thinking. But then how much more likely do you think an outcome is to happen if several people at different places and time have similar outcomes for a question you ask them? “Will so and so reconcile” “will I end up single by December” ykno questions on things that can always go either or way. How accurate has tarot been for you or someone you know with things like that? Super curious!

Disclaimer: do not read on if you are likely to become upset when contemplating your own demise. We have been talking about this in my coven, as none of us are getting any younger... We were talking about all our magical tools and books and bits and pieces, many of which are rare, antique or special, and what might happen to them when we are no longer here. We have discussed having a “magical executor” who could deal with all the stuff separately from other bequests. Some of us who are authors and scholars will bequeath papers to various museums and archives; some of us have made specific bequests to loved ones and magical colleagues.…

And this year I want to meet fellow Tarot travellers, particularly anyone around my neighbourhood so I can banish the "billy no mates" of Tarot (and the esoteric) thing, that I've got going on here. I live in SE London - and I want Tarot Peeps round the corner from me please! So - Own up! Or Book your slot on there. I think there are about 5 spaces left. http://tarotconference.co.uk

Hello everyone, I have been feeling directionless over the last few months and started using the tarot to see what my purpose in life could possibly be. Each time I have asked the question, "What is my purpose this lifetime?" I get the four of swords--even when using tarot apps on my phone! I think I understand what it means, but also I don't understand. From what I can gather, my purpose is to take it easy and recover--possibly from something in previous past lives. Today I asked again what my purpose was, but drew two cards this time for a clearer picture. I got the four of swords again and the king of cups. To me, these cards double down on the "take it easy" theme.…

I just got a mini version of a deck that I love. It's adorable and I think I'm going to have fun having it handy. But it didn't come with a LWB. The full size version has a book, not a LWB, and the meanings of some cards deviate slightly from traditional RWS. I'm not used to the deck enough yet to read reliably without the reference, so I was going to make my own LWB to go with the mini deck. I think it seems pretty straightforward-- include whatever notes I think I need, in as small a format as possible-- but I thought before I did, I would ask here if anyone else has printed their own "cheat sheet." Was there anything you didn't include you wish you had, or information …

Dear Tarot readers, Could you help me with this interpretation? Tarot Deck I'm using - Waite & Smith Card pulled in order - 9 of Cups, Tower and The Chariot I'm using Tarot for self-development and improvement, question I have asked: "What field in my life I should improve, what lesson do I need to learn" My interpretation: 9 of Cups I was living materialistic life, neglecting my spiritual side and soul, surrendered with similar type of "friends" who really care more about their image then true interpersonal relations based on trust, respect and love. …

I have always used a simple sort of altar cloth or scarf to lay my cards and read them, but lately have been itching to get something larger and with more weight, and possibly with some card related imagery on them. Would also be great for instagram I admit! Do you have a special cloth/s on which you lay/spread your cards? Where did you get it from/How did you make it? I'd love to see pics of your spread cloths for inspiration!

Do our desires only influence the interpretation of the reading or can they also influence the drawing of cards? For example: I really want to pass an exam. In a reading, draw very favorable cards related to approval. What I want to know from you guys is: while I know that my strong desire can influence how I analyze this result (I want to see my approval, therefore I see it - confirmation bias), can desire also pull favorable cards that do not correspond to the true situation? even if it's a blind draw? Influence of the subconscious? If so, is it really possible to do a neutral reading (mainly for ourselves)?

I'm hoping someone will be able to jog my memory. Several years ago I was taking Tarot lessons via mail with an organization that was well-known for Tarot and magical practices. But, as is my often scatterbrained manner, I can't remember who the heck it was. I tried going through my old Tarot notes, but I can't find the lessons either. Does anyone have any idea who it might have been? I'm pretty sure they were based in the US and it was not the ATA. I remember that the lessons I got were typewritten (I think) and were heavily magically slanted. Each lesson required me to write fairly detailed answered and required a good deal of thought and reflection.

Hi everyone, I saw a great thread on (another tarot site) (link removed) For those who don't feel like reading it, basically this person came up with some creative ways to learn tarot everyday for the next 365 days. Here's some of their ideas: - If the card is pulled for the first time, meditate on its themes and symbols. I am personally planning to imagine myself inside the card and take note of any smells, sensations, tastes, colours, and overall feelings. - If the card is pulled for the second time, spend 10-15 minutes journaling on its themes and how they're showing up in your life - If the card is pulled for the thir…
