Hi all, About reading tarot and using other divination methods and 'where to draw the line' with what to accept as 'the right answer.' Recently I've been experimenting with coin tossing and online Yes/No button to predict. Unlike Tarot cards, these give strictly binary yes/no answers. However, I've noticed that often the answer doesn't fit, because the situation is ambiguous, for example: Will it rain during my walk? NO. There ended up being a slight drizzle but nothing so heavy I would have required an umbrella. So is this rain or not? Technically, it is rain, but the purpose of my question was do I need an umbrella. Tarot often gives answers that are 'ye…

Now I may not be able to explain this well....so I’ll understand if there are many questions before my question is answered..but does anyone do readings with success when the Moon is Void of Course? I’ve seen many different sides as to why one should or shouldn’t do readings while this is occuring. Just for the longest time I have kinda had it stuck in my head to never ever do readings during this time...whether the moon is void for a half hour, or for the whole day....but I’ve wanted to try and change my own opinion, and would like to help from people here (or maybe I’m right to be thinking this way). Here are two articles I’ve found, one of them being from a blog that …

I'm leaning more and more towards this myself. I know the minors and court cards, even Ace's have their place, it the Major Arcana's I find myself only drawn to towards answering the question, the metaphors and even the numerical values with their numerical partners. Numbers are very important to me, but not so much with the minors. I feel a master can advise more clearly that that's the way to be what you are, that's the spiritual exercise you have to do better with the Majors.

Hi all! I'm a new member here and a newbie to reading tarot as well 🙂 I have a "friend" who seems jealous of me and I did a reading on her asking what she's jealous of, of me. And I got interesting results. But I don't know how to interpret and link them all into a coherent story. Being a newbie, I only know simple meanings of each card so that makes things very difficult. Could any of you guys please help me on what these cards could mean? Thank you so much in advance!! Question I asked the cards: "What is [insert friend's name] jealous of when it comes to me?" Cards I got: King of Wands (clarified by The Moon, T…

Hello 👋 I first became interested in tarot when I was 13 (let’s just say many years ago lol) and I purchased my first deck at the mall. I had only the little booklet that came with it. Back then we didn’t have the Internet forums, myriad YouTube videos, and courses online so I had to go to my library and read whatever 1-2 tarot books they had available. As an older young adult I took lessons from someone who worked at my local bookstore taught private lessons on his lunch break. I was just curious how you learned to read the tarot? Home study course? Videos online? A professional teacher? How long ago? Would you recommend that method today to someone else? Do you ta…

I would love to learn more about folx thoughts on the "brighter" or "more loving" sides of Swords (if you feel there are any). Often thought of as the colder suit, I have found them turning up in reads where I know love or positive in the energy for the individuals/couples very much exists. So I'd love to learn a more optimistic view of this often dreaded Suit!

I just started reading Tarot recently and found sometimes my reading is quite accurate but sometimes it is not. I probably doesn't understand the card well enough as I am still very new but I guess there are many influences at the same time. I will like to ask the experienced Tarot sisters and brothers, how do you score the below if I ask you to determine the factors that contribute to your accuracy in reading, especially online session? xx % Card Knowledge xx% Intuition / Psychic ability xx% Experience

Hello! I’m just starting to learn the meanings of the cards. I’ve looked at 3 online sources & 1 book. The book has almost opposite meanings than the online sources. I’m really not sure where I should learn from. Any pointers?? Any would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hello, I'm looking for the author/title of a tarot book I once read and I was hoping someone here could help me. In the introduction, the author (a professional Tarot reader) describes having done a kind of scientific test. They had an assistant have 10 different querent ask a question and then shuffle the deck of Tarot cards, and then the assistant wrote down the top cards of the deck (to determine what the reading would be for that querent). Separately, the Tarot reader then wrote out readings for the 10 different tarot spreads, and later presented all of the spreads to the 10 different people. The idea being, if there was something truly paranormal happening, the…

Was doing a reading for fun for a friend. I'm new to tarot so learning but her question was "is the man i like in a serious relationship?" She likes this man who seems to be hanging around a lot with this one girl and she wasn't sure if they were in a relationship or if they were if it's serious as in something with long term potential. I kept that in mind and the cards were all pages then the last card was Ace of Wands. How would I interpret that? Is it a not looking serious or yes? I have read that ace of wands can mean issues with long term potential but then it also says new love so I'm lost as to how to interpret. Any insight would be appreciated, thank you…

Hello everyone, I've seen a section about tarot that reads like "the meaning of cards are never always as they seem.", and the meaning of the card "The Devil" is more interest for me "not always means the evil or distruction, it can mean other things", the personal description about the devil card is more attracted me "a dark lover approaching, bringing terror. irreststible. part of you, but not. the whisper of something ghastly and betiful." My personal expectation for me is to be able to achieve this level of personal interpretation of the cards before I can be qualified to use tarot cards, So, wherer should I begin to learn??

I recently acquired the Tarot of Mystical Moments, and while I find the art charming, I was disappointed to see that the sides of the cards are gilded in silver. I generally find gilding annoying and loathe the rise of its popularity in the last few years. It often makes shuffling difficult and renders the cards needlessly sharp, and its ubiquity means that it is not even a special or lux characteristic anymore. However, I do acknowledge that there is variation in gilding quality. The highest quality gilding stays firmly on the card. The second highest quality comes off on my hands in small sparkles as I shuffle. The lowest quality chips on the cards as I shuffle (usually…

I just read this in a novel that's all about Tarot... It happens to be written by an academic who really knows her stuff, and I believe also reads, One character is suggesting that women find tarot more natural and are "better at it" (NOT getting into that bit just now) but this was interesting "Women can see new patterns better than men. Think, for example, of textiles. For centuries, women have been weavers. And those women have been able to see patterns and make inferences that create beautiful things. All we’re doing is weaving together a life. Trying to see where the different threads take us." Discuss. It actually feels like it makes sense - …

I am a newbie and interested in exploring more about spreads. I am eyeing two books on amazon but at the moment can only get one. There is one by Barbara Moore and one by Liz Dean. Are either of these recommended, and if so, is one better than the other? Or if there's another book that you recomend please let me know. Thank you.

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, I couldn't figure out the best one for this question... I'm going to Kensington, London for a few days soon and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for little quirky shops, the sort that will sell tarot cards and crystals, etc please but not at ridiculous London prices?

In tarot books or videos online, I have yet to see a single person who uses the Hindu shuffle method. Although it takes a while to randomize the cards this way (similar to overhand, or slightly faster) it is very gentle on the cards, and you get a good feel for the cards this way (and i think it looks better than overhand). If you look it up on YouTube you can see it done better than I can explain it. I highly recommend it. I have big hands tough, maybe it is not so easy for people with small hands. What is your favorite method of shuffling?

I hope this is the right place to post! Does anyone have any suggestions for resources or advice on using Tarot and Oracle decks together? I am curious to start using the two together for a little more insight, however, I have had a hard time thinking of the how. I was thinking perhaps doing a spread with Tarot and using Oracle cards as a clarifier of sorts? Apart from that, I am drawing a blank as to how to use them together.

Tarot & Boxes When it comes to buying or, if say, a person was a collector: A Does a Tarot deck devalue a lot if there isn't any box. B Devalue somewhat if the box has signs of shelf wear or any light wear and tear. Eg Discoloration/Scratches. C Does not lose value if all the cards are there in perfect condition. Box or No box. Been wondering this for a wee while... DND X/

As Rose Lalonde mentioned, I was also thinking about a reading circle idea and thought I would share it here to get some feedback-RL and I were talking and were thinking we could maybe start up the two circles :) So this circle would be called Circle of Seasons. It would be a typical monthly reading circle, but the spread each month would specifically focus on the season of the year. For an example, in autumn we might do a harvest themed spread. I'm was thinking of a 3 to 5 card spread each month. Would anyone be interested in such a circle? The rules would be basic- you let me know you're interested in that month's circle by a given date, I assign you a partner, y…

How much time do you spend everyday with your tarot deck/tarot decks? At the moment it's not more than 5 minutes a day for me, it's when I draw my daily card. :-[

I’m thinking of maybe getting a new deck in the new year and was thinking that the beauty of the back of the card is every bit a part of the experience as having great details and beauty on the front of a card. Besides, most tarot deck references show card faces and not card backs as examples. Does anyone know one that shows both? Does anybody have a favorite card back they’d like to share? Thanks!

Ok, firstly to clarify what I mean by beginner decks: Exhibit A: The Simple Tarot, Beginner Version Exhibit B: The Apprentice Tarot Decks that have keywords on the cards, more or less, enough that they make interpreting the card without prior learning viable, or make recall of the card's fuller meaning easier. So, my question is basically, what do people think of the idea of using these kinds of decks in a professional context? Both from the perspective of reader, and from the perspective of potential client. Incoming thought prompts, don't feel compelled to answer them all. Are these decks off-putting? Do they imply that a reader is new or unable to read the…
